Lovely stay in the Penthouse - good space and amazing views. Hotel is a little tired in places but that is reflected in the price plus the main bar area and staff more than make up for it.

The stay was okay. The staff was nice. The hotel is pretty clean, just the rooms are a bit simple.

I stay here when on the island for work as it’s a good location, good value and always clean. There’s also a comfortable bar and restaurant on site which I find great after a long day and breakfast is self serve and has good choice for a quick bite before heading out.

Average at best. Stayed there for a wedding with my 18 month old son for 2 nights. Firstly, they charge £15 per night for a travel cot which is shocking. I've stayed in 5 hotels with my son and never been charged before. Put me in a room where i had to get up and down stairs with a pram, an 18 month old and bags on my own. Also charged me £3.10 for a pint of milk to fill up a bottle.
Breakfast was ok. Tiny plates and cheap filter coffee.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially getting the chance to listen to an inCREDible piano player, named Phil, on two different nights.

Very nice hotel, large room (117)- unfortunately no view, just a roof.
However nice bedding, soft towels & hot shower. In house bar with a good menu, meals were substantial.Breakfast had all you needed to start the day.
The reception staff were friendly and very helpful, a big plus from me

we stayed for 4 nights in Aug 2024. The hotel is older, but elegance and character. Comfy bed, nice o ean view from our room, good buffet style breakfast, nice lobby restaurant, fast check-in/out. Would stay here again.

Great location in the middle of the promenade. A classic hotel but kept in good nick. Rooms were nice - not the biggest. Breakfast was excellent. Only disappointment was arrived about 45 mins early and told there was definitely no rooms available without even checking our booking or room. Baggage storage fine though, didn't really detract. Recommend staying here

Good standard hotel that’s well located for exploring Douglas and wider IOM.
Room was of good order and clean excepting all sealants in bathroom were poorly applied.
Good value but no better .

Firstly I had booked this Hotel because is says PARKING AVAILABLE! Which there is no on site parking, it is street parking and you're allowed to park for 16hrs in every 24hrs, yes it is a bit confusing! Some of the side streets are free on road parking but this is a lottery and a bit of a walk to the hotel.
The room was clean and comfortable all though you could hear people running up the stairs during the evening and night.
The bathroom was of goo quality but required updating, much like the rest of the island a bit run down and dated.
the bed was super comfortable and I did wakeup in the night thinking that I was actually in my own bed at home!
The staff were pleasant and the food at the piano bar was good although limited, there are a few restaurants if you're prepared to walk along the sea front towards the main town.
Breakfast was very good, with a good selection of english buffet, continental and plenty of fruit to eat.
I stayed for 8nights on a business trip and would more than likely use the same hotel again.

We had a classic sea view but we were woken by fights and arguments outside on most nights.
Breakfast was enjoyable and reasonably well organised. Order taking for tea and kippers was a bit hit and miss.
We were very impressed by the food offering (and the staff) in the piano bar. Shame the beer is so expensive!
We would return.

I requested a early morning call. Which was ignored by the night man. But a resident talking in the hall way luckily woke me up. Other than that enjoyed

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, great location, parking can be hit and miss opposite hotel, room lovely, stayed here several times, i dud notice on this occasion breakfast was "different" no yoghurts, sausages were cheap, i think breakfast is due an overhaul, no kippers 2 days in a row, pastries on one of the days. Other than that spot on.

Very comfortable for a short trip. Staff were very helpful. Good transport links and great location.

Only comment would be, noise from other rooms. Could hear snoring and talking. Which stopped me sleeping at times, but not sure the hotel would be able to do anything about this.

As a one night staycation, it fitted the bill. My room was very comfortable and very clean.
All the staff l encountered were very pleasant and helpful.
The breakfast was excellent, considering it was a buffet.
The location is what you would hope for, with views over the harbour and beyond, and close to the shopping area and the Villa Gaiety.

Had room 406 on the top floor with a sea view and plenty of space. Reasonably quite room with minimal noise from vehicles in the street. Good views out to sea. The floor slightly slopes in parts.
Breakfast was included and provided a good range of food. At times it was very busy and there were the occasional short delays whilst items were re-stocked. We ate dinner in the Braserie 3 times and it was good quality. Would recommend the Empress.

Very small room and bathroom not particularly comfortable but did the trick. Better value available no doubt.

Great views, great room, great friendly service. Room service food also great quality.

Excellent, friendly service from all the staff.
The hotel was a long walk along the front from the ferry terminal but taxis were available outside on the street in front of the port.
Very nice breakfast each morning which offered porridge, kippers and boiled eggs to order as well as cereal, pastries and full English.
The room was lovely and clean with views over the sea front (we paid extra for the sea view)
In the evening a gentle man was playing the piano in the bar which was pleasant while you had a drink or a bar snack.
The restaurant served a small but very nice menu each evening.

It was ideal for a night with open sea views.

Ask for the Balmoral room!! View of the bay. Two rooms off the entry: bedroom and a sitting room with the view. Easy walk to the center of town.

Arriving at the hotel I was told that my room wasn't ready yet but I actually felt they wouldnt allow anyone to check in until the published time.
When I did get in my room it was cold and small.
After a very early start I tried to rest for a little while but could hear the music from downstairs so struggled.
When returning from dinner with a customer the music seemed to switch off around 23.30, the room was still cold and with a small single and thin duvet it was cold.
I was then woken up by yet more noise which I think was the pipes from the small radiator in the bathroom.
I hardly slept.
When asked in the morning they asked how my stay was and when I explained it was very poor they just said "sorry about that"
I'd booked a room for later in the year already but will be cancelling this and finding something else.

We have stay here a few times and it's great, no issues. You can park a cross the street 16hr out or 24hrs. Breakfast is excellent too.

The food and the restaurants were spectacular. The location is great for visitors with no cars. The lobby area is so nice.
I’ve stayed at the Empress many times and we always had a sea view. I really missed a view this time. The view was just a boxed area outside our room.

The Empress is in a great location. The bus stop from the airport is extremely close (4). This id ideal for exploring the whole island. Staff were very friendly, we dropped off luggage prior to check in. The hotel seems to have recarpeted throughout and underlay very comfortable. Room was a Triple as we travelled as a family of 3 Adults. 3rd bed was a proper single not a pull out. Room was quiet, extremely clean and well maintained. Breakfast was faultless. We ate on 2 occaisions in the Piano bar. Food was excellent, well priced and extrely large portions. Nice to have a real ale on in the bar. We would definately use this hotel again.
