Room was dirty but was corrected immediately. Owner was very nice and went above and beyond to make it right

Overall the hotel was nice and had lots of wonderful historic qualities. The beds were amazing for comfortable sleeping. The only thing that wasn't the best was the food in the tavern it could have been better and it was pricey. Other than that we had a wonderful stay and everyone was very hospitable. I loved the history of the place and the fact that you could walk to the Natural Bridge place from it very convenient!

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Our first room had no electricity, and they promptly gave us a different room. I did appreciate that service. Additionally, the online description says they offer infant cribs. When I asked the concierge he looked at me like I was crazy.
The new room had signs of poorly repaired and possible recent water damage. And the bathroom was full of mold and mildew. I mentioned the issues when we checked out (for context we checked in around 11PM and checked out before 8AM) and received no apology. I’m very frustrated. We were planning to stay there on our return trip too but I’ve cancelled the reservation.

My wife and I enjoyed our weekend stay. We enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel, which was different from your run-of-the-mill modern hotel. Had wanted to see the Natural Bridge for a number of years and we added a Va Tech football game too.

This hotel uses its supposed “historic” designation as an excuse not to update anything. The shower was the smallest shower I’ve ever seen in my life. I’m a thin 5

Very old and dated. Front staff was courteous, however there did nit seem to be any other staff. Stay was fine, just a place to place to sleep that is very conveniently located in the state park.

Very clean and comfy room. Beautiful views. Would stay again.

I love the history of the building. The rooms were very clean, and the beds were comfortable. The staff was cordial. What I will say is I went down to the dining room in the morning to get 2 coffees. I decided to grab a muffin and some eggs which I was charged $25. The eggs were cold and tasted horrible, so they were thrown in the garbage. Also, I went to walk the dog at 5 in the morning and the floor was so slippery in the hallway in front of the kitchen I almost fell. When I went to come back in the back door was locked and would not unlock with key card. I had to walk around the building to get back in.

The room was overpriced for what it was - smallish, no chair, only one soap and one coffee cup though we had registered as 2 people, and a musty smell to it. The shower is very small, but we understand because it is in the older section. At $220 per night they should have included breakfast. Reasonably clean, reasonably decent beds but certainly nothing like other hotels I've stayed in at that price range. The hotel itself does look impressive and the lobby, eating room are very nice. Staff was friendly.

Nice historic hotel with a beautiful lobby. Only problem was the tv was small and the picture on the tv was even smaller with some sort of lag

We knew the hotel was a bit dated but LOVED our stay here-beautiful view, lovely staff (especially in the tavern) and fascinating history room. We are ok with no room service, taking our own luggage in and periodic cleaning, so it was ideal for us!

Room was great. The morning desk clerk was very unfriendly and not helpful. Continental breakfast was pitiful. Would have been happy to buy breakfast but restaurant was closed. It was a weekday morning but could have been much better.

The front-desk staff was excellent. They were professional and friendly. As you drive up to the property it looks amazing, almost regal. But as you enter the front door you will see that the property is quite outdated…BUT, you can tell that this was a luxurious hotel at one time. The carpeting was worn and smelled musty in the hallways. The elevator is old. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Towels and toiletries were good…. The breakfast that they charge you $16.99 for is what is given in many other hotels for free…. Not worth the $$$ and there were no baked items.

Only comment I I’ll make is that over the 2 to three years that I stop there midway in my trip that I witness constant upgrades to the facilities. The bonus to stopping here is that It is pet friendly.

A really nice historical hotel with wonderful staff, good food, clean room, and comfy bed. Right across the street from the entrance to the Natural Arch State Park

The house we stayed in here was dirty. There was a plate with food on it under one bed and popcorn under another. Couch was so horrible, you sit on it and sink into a hole with the leg bar jamming you in the back of legs. Walls had peeling paint/plaster. Spiders in almost every room. Mouse droppings in the kitchen. When walking in, the smell was like a super old dusty atic. Fans had layers of dust on them. Seems like no ones pays attention to detail at all. The shower sprayed in every direction except down. Only thing i liked, was the large fridge i could put frozen breast milk in to keep frozen during our traveling.

Love the surrounding grounds by the hotel. So much history and the information that they have laid out to read. Will definitely go back and tour the site again. Will make it a 3 day stay. Again the staffing went over and beyond in making our stay there very enjoyable. 10

It was a very nice place to visit. The air conditioning was not working in the lobby restaurant or hallways. The hallway smelt moldy but it was due to not having air conditioning on 100 degree days. The room air conditioning was working fine. That’s the only fly in the ointment everything else was great.

Had a great meal but service was slow, they were understaffed, but very friendly service.

The room smelt like a very old building. The walls had stains and melted paint. The cleaning service was not provided unless requested every three days according to the hotel policy, but there’s an envelope on the table for tip.

The room is clean. The food in the dining room is excellent. Definitely try the steak.

Thought I booked a suite in the Hotel .. this was on the outskirts of the property ..a small Cottage .. no locks on the windows and it was ground floor .. cobwebs and spiders galore.. peeling paint on walls and ceilings .. traveling with 3 grandchildren .. we checked out after checking in when we saw the “SUITE”, desk clerk told us to find another hotel as she had nothing else available.. we were on the road at 10:30 at night to another location.. this is unacceptable and someone from Wyndham Corporation needs to be doing a better job on the oversight of their properties.. even the siding on the exterior of the Cabin (SUITE) was rotting away .. nothing like the pictures posted online of the Tyler Suite ..no window coverings in the bathrooms.. ground level and curtains on the remaining widow’s barely reached across the width of the window .. no where did it mention it was a Cabin when I booked online.. Deceitful for sure

We found out about the hotel looking for a place to spend the night after purchasing the tickets for the animal safari. After I bought them I realized it was 4 hours to get there and 4 to get back to my house. There were not many options for stays and the first option was this hotel. I say it honestly; What a beautiful hotel. His story behind is impressive. The cleanliness of the room and the restoration of the bathroom met my expectations. The bed and pillows are too comfortable. I will return next year.

The hotel a rather old and Dirty. Has an old musty smell. I stayed two days and they never replaced towel or made the bed. I said something to the front desk and the response was sorry they must have forgot. Wow!!! Service was horrible.

The reason to stay here is the view and access to the natural bridge park. It was amazing. The property has a lot of history which is interesting to learn about. But the table in the tavern was like fly paper it was so sticky. The beer taps didn’t work. The suite could be nice if it was well furnished. It has potential but needs more funding for its decor.
