Along with a marina, this smoke-free resort has 2 outdoor pools and a golf course. Self parking is free. Other amenities include a restaurant, a fitness center, and a bar/lounge.
Lakehouse Resort offers 143 air-conditioned accommodations with complimentary bottled water and coffee/tea makers. Pillowtop beds feature down comforters. Beautiful hotel! I didn't realize there was lake in San Marcos but we really enjoyed our view/stay. We came down from NorCal for the CSUSM orientation and ate at the local restaurant which was DELISH. Would absolutely stay here again!

Such a nice find. Clean “boutique” feel resort. It was off the beaten path so it wasn’t so crowded yet the coast was only a 25 minute drive. The staff was very friendly, the lobby was recently renovated and the room was extremely comfortable.

Love staying at this place. Met girlfriends and hung out by the pool. Pool water was cold but towels, chairs, umbrellas were great. Had a great lake front room, excellent dinner and wine at Amalfi. Loved sitting in our adirondack chairs and looking at the evening lights reflecting on the lake. A little weird in the morning that a guest from another room came and sat on our patio in our chair - and also a staff guy walked by our patio a few times with chairs while we were still in our jammies. Had another delicious meal at breakfast at the golf patio while we watched our fav football teams play Sunday morning. All in all, a really lovely place. Will definitely be back!

Pros: Cute little lake area. Great for couples and families. Food and service at Amalfi was amazing. Jake at the front desk was very friendly and willing to help. Dog friendly. The live music was fun and entertaining. Great that water sports are onsite and somewhat included. They are very strict on giving you your “included” daily activities and try to charge instead. Fire pits and smores galore - love! Cons: Lake water is entirely brown. Residents on the lake have hateful flags up, seems like pretty politically charged and angry residents here. It’s a man made lake in the middle of a bustling city, it’s not exactly a wilderness getaway. We were totally upsold on paying an extra $400 for a lakefront cabin. We weren’t told it was HA…my boyfriend literally couldn’t fit under the shower. The room smelled like must so we called asking for more candles which helped. Went to shower at night and found out the hot water wasn’t working. Maintenance spent the entire next day on our patio with tools and equipment everywhere replacing the water heater and we were now offered another room. The carpeting in the bedroom smelled like pee and the bedroom door was completely off track. In a nutshell - don’t get upsold, don’t be surprised by the pure brown water and residents on the lake, bring some febreeze and your patience :)

The property itself was very good, the amenities were very well maintained at a great location and the staff friendly. However, we had bedbugs in our room and I woke up to multiple clusters of bites on my legs. I would have expected a resort property this well maintained to have been clean and bug-free.

Room was on the lake beautiful view from back window. Upon entering there were bug guts on the wall. Once in the room, room had an odor and live bugs on the ceiling, by each of the doors and on the walls. The hotel stated lake bugs, offered for someone to come clean/remove the bugs. I asked for a diff room. They did not have one available for several hours. I canceled the reservation.

What an Amazing hidden Gem !! Such a relaxing peaceful resort yet so much to do on site you don’t have to leave So many activities on water , love that there’s more than one pool, a restaurant/bar Grounds are very nice too Beaches are also close by Just a fun place to stay and staff are great It will definitely be a go to place for me in the future

We love staying here! The rooms and hallways could use a little TLC, but the staff and grounds are just incredible. The lake is gorgeous. Both restaurants are incredible. The pools and hot tubs are clean and inviting. This was our third time staying, and we will definitely stay again!

The restaurants were awesome. Friendly staff too. Overall great stay. I would stay there again. Only complaint... A couple hotel staff members didn't have the best response to a couple requests made. They were kind of rude about it with a smile on their face if you know what I mean.

We stayed in two rooms and both were very nice and clean. We paid extra for the view to the lake but the alternative was looking at the parking lot. The lake is pretty and quaint. The beds are comfortable and relatively quiet, although we could hear every step in the room above us. The air conditioning worked fine except it was very loud. In the end we also had to pay a daily $40 “resort” fee, however at least parking was free. The pools were small and often crowded and we could not find a restroom nearby. You can’t swim in the lake and there is no beach either. Breakfast was not included. We liked San Marcos in general.

It was our second time here and this time with our son. We booked the premier lake view room on the second floor. It has a balcony but we are unable to go to the balcony since there are plenty of insects flying around. And the balcony looks like it hasnt been cleaned in a while. The chairs are so dusty. The first time we were here we stayed on the first floor premier lake view and it was a lot better. They still offer the free 1 hour kayak.

The Lake House provided a quiet respite. Accommodations were clean and spacious. The 2 pools and lounging area offered a very relaxing ambiance. Kayaking on the lake and riding a bike cruiser in the area was fun too. Didn’t get a chance to hit golf balls in their resort driving range however but next time that’ll be in the agenda. All these activities are part of the resort fee which is very nominal compared to other resorts. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay welcoming. A plus is the Italian restaurant next door to the resort Also, parking was so convenient.

The lake is great is summertime. Loved the kayak free each day for an hour. Coffee maker in room didn't work, but we didn't bother to complain they have a coffee shop on property
