This is a fabulous property with a family feel seeped in history and amazing staff that go the extra mile to optimize your experience! We had an onsite cooking class that was an amazing Tuscan adventure too!

It was a nice venue for an anniversary celebration for me and my wife. My brother and sister and their spouses joined us for our stay. It is a beautiful facility and well-run. Would highly recommend.

The Villa il Poggiale was the perfect place to recover from jet lag. They were attentive to our needs, everyone was very welcoming and the location and grounds were stunning.
We’ll definitely be back!
Thank you to Monica and get staff for a wonderful visit.

A true Renaissance villa ! Finally.... After reading description and description of villa this and villa that, how wonderful to arrive and find an actual, verifiable 15th century (restored) villa.
Loggias and interior courtyards and terraces and views for days, Il Poggiale was a delight. Kind, attentive staff. Enormous guest rooms and lovely baths. Every space was a gift for the eyes and the imagination.

The staff was so helpful and friendly. We got advise to go eat at a local restaurant about 15 min from the property that was the best steak we have ever had. Just exquisite. The pool and the views were just gorgeous. I would stay here again. 🙂💕

The hotel is amazing and the location as well. Service was Also really great and the dinner as well. However we had a lot of beetles (bugs) inside the room, and Also in the bed!! So we had a hard time sleeping. We noticed first after the dinner so just before we went to sleep. If this was not the case I would recommend this place to everyone!

The villa is beautiful and full of old world charm. Hospitality was outstanding and staff helpful and accommodating. They have a great pool very clean and the chef Anna gives a great cooking class. Loved waking up to hot air balloons in the morning and watching the sunsets in the evening! The only negative is the location of some rooms is an issue as they are next to the road and cars and trucks are zipping by all day, all night. When booking on your site they will only give you ground floor room all other quiet ooms away from the road are E60 extra. We ended up moving to a lovey quiet room paid the extra $$$ and just loved staying there. We would return but specificallyrequest a specific room.

We (family with two teenage kids) stayed in the separate family apartment which is approx. 150m from the main house for 3 nights. The apartment is very spacious (two bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen and living room) and has beautiful views. We very much enjoyed our stay, especially the great pool. Breakfast was very generous with lots of variety. We had dinner twice in the nearby village San Casciano. There are various options, but we ended up at the same restaurant on two nights: Nello, which was also recommended by our host. Very cozy which excellent local dishes.

Wonderful people, fantastic views, fresh bakery goods in the morning.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel very much. We were two couples. Our room was spacious and very nice. The other room was quite small and was less comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and had good recomendations about the towns around and especially where to park. The food at dinner was very tasty . We ended up having our dinner at the hotel each evening. We will certainly return to Villa il Pogialle.

The Villa il Poggiale was the highlight of a truly fantastic holiday in the South of France and Tuscany. The bedrooms are lovely, the common areas comfortable and beautiful, the staff incredible and the views from the terraces breathtaking. The breakfast buffet was quite good, but dinner was outstanding. We'd not thought to eat in, but choose to do so because we enjoyed the meals and the atmosphere so much. The staff members are friendly, personable and helpful; they make you feel welcome and are very accommodating. They reviewed my daily itineraries, provided additional information and tips, made reservations for wineries and tours, and advised on the best routes to our destinations. Bikes are provided; we rode close to the hotel past the olive orchard and vineyards. However, the public roads are intimidating for the casual rider and the hills are quite challenging on the private roads! We found the location perfect for visiting the villages in Tuscany - Sienna, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, Montefioeralle, Greve, San Miniato, Vinci, Badia a Passiagno, Castello di Verrazzano, etc. - and close enough to Florence that it was an easy 40 minute drive for an early morning flight home. The villages are very close together so you can visit several in one day without feeling rushed. Several of the other guests used the hotel as the base for visiting Florence, Lucca and Pisa. We had chosen to stay in the larger cities for a few days, but either option would work. Highly recommend

Absolutely amazing villa! We spent 5 nights of our honeymoon at the villa, and we wish we spent all 10! The staff was wonderful and helped us book dinner reservations, excursions, and anything else we needed help with. They treated us like family, and that is exactly what we were looking for. We cant wait to come back for anniversaries in the future!

A wonderful historical building with excellent views, amenities and exceptional staff.

The Villa is absolutely stunning. Its just a pity that the kitchen is closed during winter as you cant find food in the local restaurants either as everything is closed. So we went hungry at night as we didnt realize this till our second last day. But otherwise an amazing experience and a wonderful place to stay. Staff are very helpful and the Villa is out of this world. We will definitely go back .... In summer!!

We are very frequent travelers who have never been to the Villa il Poggiale before and loved it. We visited in late September - not too hot and the evenings were cool. Perfect time to go. Federica, Irene, and the entire staff were absolutely wonderful from arranging our to/from airport transportation to making us feel at home. The grounds were lovely, although the pool was not heated in late September. We had breakfast everyday at the Villa - the chef does a wonderful job. They have a simple menu for dinner, and a couple of times we stayed in the Villa for dinner and wine. We found the dinners to be quiet enjoyable. Even their house wines (which is on the honor system and chosen by the staff) were all excellent. We had a full suite which has plenty of room to relax with a semi-private porch outside. Our traveling companions had a junior suite which also had plenty of room. Now the "OK" news: The bathrooms could be updated. They are OK, but could use some refreshing - more modern amenities and some contractor work perhaps. But this is a minor gripe compared to the overall experience. This is a very, very nice Villa in the heart of Tuscany. Think if it as a larger bed and breakfast but short of a full resort. If you can splurge, go with at least a junior suite, and rent a car in Florence to explore the countryside. Yes, we would go back. Thank you Villa iL Poggiale!

What a gem, in the heart of the countryside, overlooking vineyards and the Chianti hills. This beautiful 14th century grand house is only 17klms from Florence. We only stayed one night on our way back to Florence. We wished we could have stayed longer. It was like walking into a period drama or a grand museum. We loved it. We felt like royalty sitting in the large sitting room, having a drink from the honesty bar, after a delicious dinner. Very sad leaving the next morning. Promised myself I would return.

If you are looking for a Tuscan villa away from the crowds this is for you. Personally, we were with a family so it wasn't perhaps the right fit but that is not a criticism of the Villa. The breakfast was impeccable. The food was locally sourced and fresh (the eggs were perfect), the rooms large and traditional rather than modern. They were very clean although with a slightly overbearing smell of potpourri. The views at breakfast were superb, the setting the classic Tuscan landscape, and the pool was clean and inviting. Only drawbacks were that you need a car to get around, and there were not many other local restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Overall good though.

I can't say enough about our stay at Villa Il Poggiale! The scenery, accommodations, and service made our trip very enjoyable. Monica and staff were very helpful with information about the area. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious breakfast every morning before going out. At the end of the day, we looked forward to sitting outside, overlooking the tuscan hills with a bottle of wine before dinner.
We traveled as a family and Suite 19 was perfect! A small apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. On the first day we didn't have hot water but before I could speak to someone it was already being fixed.
My husband and I hope to return again.

Having read all the great reviews about the villa we were very much looking forward to our 3 night stay. The villa is nicely located, has a swimming pool and nice surroundings. However the rooms are of a massive need of an upgrade. We booked superior room which turned out to be small, quite dark, had some damp problem in walk in wardrobe space and had a very basic en-suite. One would definitely expect more from the price paid and the plush pictures shown on the website! On reflection I don't even think we were given a superior room. Also if you are a light sleeper don't expect great rest at night as there is a lots of noise coming from the nearby road pretty much 24/7. The breakfast was nice but the selection was quite average (if compared to other cheaper villas in tuscany that we stayed in). Overall will not be coming back and would not recommend.

This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had.
The management were extremely rude.

We recently stayed here for 8 days while on vacation in Tuscany. It was conveniently located right outside of San Casciano in the heart of Tuscany. The villa's staff was very attentive and professional. The room, a junior suite, was large and beautiful. The entire villa was beautiful, in fact, and very well maintained. There were many patios and other sitting areas on the grounds with lovely gardens surrounding them. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Everything was wonderful - a pleasure for all senses. We travel frequently around the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia and I can say without hesitation that this place is not only excellent in quality, service and ambience, but great value.
Visually a feast for the eyes, both within the property and surrounding views. Our room was beautiful with lovely rugs, decor and super comfy sheets and bedding. The room and hotel even smelled amazing, with fresh floral scent or around meal time, we were blessed with lovely aromas from the kitchen. Lovely relaxing music played at a perfect volume in the large sitting room. Outdoors, you could enjoy silence in the evening or birds in the daytime while enjoying the panoramic view at breakfast tables or near the pool. Breakfast was good quality, fresh food. We opted for dinner in town during our 2 night stay so cannot comment on restaurant although the menu looked good.
Location is excellent if you have a car. Close to Florence, Volterra, San Gimignano, Siena, etc. Lovely small roads to explore all around.

This is a gorgeous hotel. Very old, with character, romantic, clean, and excellent service.
