Nice hotel for a one night stay

Very helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful grand exterior and very interesting breakfast menu. Everyone we met was extremely polite and kind, which we appreciated after a very long 2 days travelling. thank you! Sadly quite a bit of the hotel was being renovated so we weren’t able to access it but the parts we saw very very nice.

A bit of relatively quiet luxury, in what is often the dusty and humid city of San Jose. Except for the absence of a swimming pool (they have two Jacuzzis on the roof instead), it is a lovely hotel.

VIP member and received quarter bottle of wine rather than whole bottle as entitled and expected to sgare with travelling companion.
Breakfast only allowed for ONE cappuccino even though it cost $27! My companion paid $14 for same experience paid separately. Totally outrageous situation

The property is beautiful. The staff in the reception were very kind on arrival. They helped us to arrange transport from the airport in advance, which was reliable and professional. The driver was on time and was so helpful.
However, in preparation for our trip we tried to contact the hotel multiple times to explore possibilities to help us to arrange an excursion to the volcanoes. All of our emails were ignored. We also tried to ask for help and recommendations while there (for local knowledge) and the staff would just tell us to google options. Not very helpful.
The bar at the hotel is really beautiful. However, the staff at the bar at night are EXTREMELY rude. They act as if you are making them waste their time even though the price of the drinks is not cheap.
Funnily enough the waiters working the breakfast shift were incredible.
Make your plans for excursions independently, do not count on the hotel. And either ignore the rude and snobbish waiters or get yourself to one of the many great bars around (Azotea 7 , Apocadero, etc) for better service.
But the property is nice and the breakfast was incredible.

Simply a beautiful hotel to give the guest a true feeling for this beautiful country. Not a typical sterile chain hotel. Every room is unique, the garden exquisite and the hotel staff exceptional. And the food is great! Stay there!!

Very good Restaurant, the room was ok, the location of the hotel was not safe at night and I did not received an upgrade or a bottle of wine as it was stated in my reservation for a VIP expedia customer.

This was a very nice hotel that is in an OK part of town. The hotel itself is amazing, the restaurant is very good. I stayed for a couple of nights because it was close to the airport. I would stay here again.

Service and restaurant was excellent! The only downside was the insufficient lighting in the room.

We had a 2 night trip in San Jose after “roughing it” for 2 weeks all over Costa Rica. We splurged on this place so we could get some good rest and we did! Also really liked the hot tub. We did not eat in the restaurant (very pricy) but found a wonderful cafe around the corner for breakfast. Would go back.

Amazing old city architecture in the heart of San Jose, pretty close to Central Market and Museums. Great restaurant with open air courtyard. Very neat!

For the price I would expect a much nicer room. It’s clean and bed is comfortable but it’s cramped and dark the restaurant is very good. Next time we’ll just eat here.

Wonderful hotel with a great restaurant.

Air conditioning was extremely slow to change temperature. Found mosquitos and small bugs in the bathroom due to no screens on windows.

Excellent staff, from the reception desk and housekeeping to the waiters in the restaurant, outstanding. Of course this includes the kitchen staff who provided exquisite meals. The ambiance is charming and warm, will stay there again. Great boutique hotel - 40 or so bedrooms in total - with a good location to explore San Jose.By the way, at an astonishing low price.
