We had an excellent experience but we were there due to the ac not working at our place so our focus was elsewhere. I can say that the service was excellent and the room was comfortable and clean. The history of the building is an experience of its own!

The hotel was nice but later that night we realized the heat was broken andit was 27° outside and the space heater they put in the room was broken as well and they was completely booked up

Love this old fashioned, homey hotel. very nice at a reasonable price.

This hotel was a gem!! Definitely will be back! It’s an old place, but very well kept. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. Walking distance to downtown.

Nice old historical building. Very authentic. Room was big. Clean bathroom. Central location and free parking.

The hotel is beautiful. We loved all the furnishings and the old wood floors, and the courtyard. The four-poster bed was nice, but the mattress was not good. My head was “downhill”, so I didn’t sleep well. I think for a one-night stay the hotel is fine, but I would not recommend a longer stay.

The hotel is historic but has not been renovated. It smells musty, the wifi didnt work, the bathtub had rust in it, there was no fridge in the room, the coffee maker was cheap and had dust in the compartment where you put the water- i doubt it had been used in years. Thankfully the bed was comfortable but that’s the only positive thing i can say about this pretty run down hotel. It needs a complete overhaul.

We enjoyed our stay. While the property is older that is part of the charm. Our first room had no hot water but we were able to move to another room the next morning. Overall the staff was very accommodating. We would stay again.

Got a call a call the night before our stay that they were trying to pull money out but it wouldn’t go through. I told the lady I picked the option to pay at the hotel because I was splitting the trip with my mother. Lady got super rude with me and said “ugh I don’t know why hotels.com does this to us that’s not an option” I said no problem and was going to give her the card number. She said our systems are down so I can’t take payment. But she assured me I was fine and my reservation was confirmed. The following morning before heading out on the 8 hour drive to get there I got a confirmation email confirming our stay and how much it was going to cost. Perfect.
2 hours before we arrived at the hotel I got a phone call from a woman named charlotte how had to be one of the nastiest people I have ever encountered in my entire life. She was calling to inform me that they were booked up and didn’t have a room for me. When I tried to talk to her she kept stopping me and interrupting me. Never once apologized and treated me like it was my fault this was happening. She said don’t worry we are getting you a room at the holiday inn. What?? I booked a stay in a historic hotel. Not a holiday inn. She basically said “you want it or not” I told her I don’t have a choice we were already driving. I swear I have never been treated so terribly before. Both women I talked to were incredibly rude but charlotte was the worst. How dare you talk to someone, anyone, the way she did. I’m disgusted

Most amazing stay with such beautiful accommodations, gorgeous room and lived our stay.

Staff was wonderful, however the hotel had some issues that the owner needs to address. Our first room was not the room we booked and had no AC. (box fans when we arrived) The staff was able to move us after the first night (it was a 3 day stay) to a beautiful new room, however, that room had no hot water.

Booked in advance for an August 10th stay. The day before the stay they cancelled the reservation due to their air conditioning was broken and said they would send everyone a refund the following week. It’s been over a month and still NO REFUND. Liars and cheaters!

This hotel has a lot of potential. You can tell that at one time is was a great property. With that being said it is in need of major renovations and upgrades.
Upon entering the lobby the hotel has a very noticeable musty smell. The rooms are spacious, but they do not have a microwave or fridge. Also the bathroom needs to upgrade the shower/tub to a walk in shower. The bathtub actually had a shower curtain. I haven't seen a shower curtain in a hotel in a long time, and I do a lot of traveling. The floor boards in the bathroom needed to be replaced. You could actually see the insulation. The doors to the room are old, they actually still use keys. I haven't seen keys at a property in at least 8-10 years.
The hotel does not offer any food, and there is a large room on the property that could easily be used to offer some type of food.
However, with all of that being said, the hotel does have a lot of charm. It is also in a great location within walking distance to restaurants and its in the middle of downtown.
I think with some investment, or maybe getting taken over by a large hotel chain this place can be restored to its former glory.

Booked this room to take one of my medical boards since I was traveling from out of town instead of staying at a reg chain hotel. The inn is charming, gives historical southern vibes. Check in was easy other than even if you select pay upon arrival they’ll try to charge your card beforehand, if it declines they cancel the reservation. Thankfully for me this wasn’t the case for me, just FYI you may be charged beforehand. Kathy was nice and helpful when checking in! I had a king suite with a balcony, really enjoyed the aesthetic of the room but the walls are VERY thin, stayed next to a couple. I believe if you can see where I’m going with this (: could also hear everyone in the hallway. There’s no fridge/microwave so just be mindful of that. I couldn’t store any cold food or water I brought. My bathroom door didn’t open all the way from getting stuck on the vanity and the magnifying mirror wall mount was broken, didn’t have hot water either. There’s no lock on the windows to the balcony (huge safety hazard). Only 2/4pillows had pillowcases on them;wasn’t sure if this was a decor thing? And blanket had some stains. The info binder in the room also mentions breakfast, this isn’t a thing. There’s no bar either?
All in all it’s a beautiful inn and I enjoyed my stay. Remember it is *definitely historical*. The staff is very friendly. I just think they could do better with maintenance and housekeeping. Oh and my room was super cold, but that was probably the ghosts (;

I did not enjoy this stay. 1st thing, when we got to the room I noticed it wasn’t a balcony room I paid for. Then I go to the desk and bring it up to the lady and she tells me they had to do work to the balcony room. Never once notified me of this change through email/phone or even when I checked in. Secondly it took forever for the room to cool off which was frustrating in the middle of summer. I was so over the place. We stopped there for a night so we didn’t have to make the long trip to Destin in 1 day. Never again will I stay at this place. Only good thing that came from stopping at this place was we got to stop at The Ruby Slipper Cafe for breakfast the next morning which was so delicious.

I have stayed here in the past and it was delightful and historic. Still historic but falling apart. Elevator broken, stayed in a courtyard room that had flood damage and bad tile job in bathroom. A bad attempt at historic putting modern cheap tile in bathroom. It looked disheveled and cheap. I was embarrassed taking my partner here after telling them how glorious it was and the historic antique furnishings on the second floor balcony rooms. I also felt unsafe and glad I wasn’t alone.

It is charming with the courtyard! BUT the air conditioner did not work, the room stayed 77 the whole night. It was miserable. The elevator did not work, so we had to carry our luggage up the stairs and had no hot water for shower.

The property was cheaper, which was nice, but super old. The room was only cooled by a fan, and the surrounding area was weirdly vacant. But it was a place to sleep. 3/5

The staff including Charlotte and Tracy are so nice and accommodating. The hotel is magnificent as long as you realize you are staying in a historic home and don't expect the newest brightest but tried and true shine through. I have a new favorite. Sorry NOLA I'm staying in Mobile

Located in a nice area, good price for a large room, and overall pretty clean. Could probably use a thorough deep clean soon bc it seemed a bit dusty in corners and mouldings. The hallways and rooms smell a bit musty as well, but likely because it’s an old building. I liked that they had their own private parking lot and that the beds were comfortable. I would stay again.
