The staff in the lobby were so friendly and helpful--seriously made it feel like home.

Great stay, very accommodating staff, excellent location in LES. Would definitely go back again. Spacious room with separate front area perfect for traveling with a baby. Little things like having trash cans in stairwells also helpful. Comfortable bed with gigantic showers (best water pressure in NYC). Front desk super helpful with nice personal touches.

Stayed for a family wedding. Location is great and rooms stay quiet even at night. Hotel is in desperate need of a refresh. Lobby does not match the quality of the guest floors. Restaurant was absolutely delicious and worth visiting.

We had a great stay at the hotel on Rivington. Close to our daughter's apartment in the LES and tons of restaurants and bars. Area is lively with young people but also pretty dirty. There is no area to be dropped off in front of the hotel so that is a little inconvenient. They are renovating and the lobby, restaurant and bar are great! Our room was large with 2 double beds, a couch, desk and coffee table. The best thing is the view - floor to ceiling windows we just spent our time gazing out at the view. There are some rough things like one elevator, the carpet in the room is pretty dingy by the door and should be replace and our bathroom door handle was broken. But everyone was very nice here and the service was great. We will be back and can't wait to see how the renovations go!

The staff were great, that’s all I can say about the hotel that is positive.

Our stay at the Hotel on Rivington was good despite a few cons we had to experience. The hotel only had one tiny elevator that was not working during our check-in, so we had to wait to use it and go upstairs. The onsite manager was nice about it and sent us a bottle of wine for the inconvenience. The same night we arrived the AC was not working and we didn't know until we slept an entire night sweating. We called front desk and they sent someone to come fix it. Our window also was difficult to close so I called the front desk around 11pm to have someone come close it and no one arrived. Despite all of this the room was very clean, bed was huge and super comfy and my best friend who we were celebrating had a great experience!

Good size rooms for NYC, nice bathroom, body wash etc, super comfy mattress and pillows, fridge, safe, closet hanger space.

This was our second stay at this hotel. Both times I was impressed with the room size and layout, the staff's friendly demeanor, and the excellent showers. This time we got the soaking tub, and it was clean and almost too big. I wouldn't bring my kids here- this place feels more couple oriented, which is just what we wanted.

Construction in the lobby and only one functioning elevator hampered an otherwise nice stay. Elevator would occasionally take over 10 minutes to arrive and seemed to be heavily used by staff.

The staff were pleasant and very accommodating. Great location and affordable.

Hotel is undergoing renovation. One elevator is operational. Need to change in-room HVAC filters. Noise from neighboring doors closing is loud. No in-room coffee or tea. Mattress not great.

Property is solid. A little outdated but great location in the middle of LES.

Such a great hotel with a beautiful lobby and our room was large!

Wished there was a better privacy window for the shower that had a view. Refrigerator would have been amazing to have in the room, there was no iron in the room as well. Missing tiles and certain walls had unfinished boarding, balcony did not lock

I called and told them it was my anniversary I got to the room they had the balcony doors bolted shut no access… I called to find out why they told me that they can give me a upgraded room for a $70 charge to guarantee a door that opens because they’re doing renovations… the rooftop is now only for private parties which was not mentioned

Amazing hotel.

Hotel needs to be renovated. The beds are absolutely awful and the man at the front desk even agreed and told me they are very old beds. Also, the hallway had no lights and felt very dangerous walking in the dark From the elevator to the room, the elevator inside looks like something from a prison and pretty much everything besides, the lobby in the new restaurant looks very outdated. We also had an opened window that we had to figure out how to crank shut. The pictures are very misleading as this has not been renovated.

The hotel was conveniently located, had really comfortable beds and great water pressure. The bar was fun. Service was great

I’d definitely stay here again. The employees at the front desk were helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and clean. Bathroom was large and shower had good water pressure. Convenient location. Only suggestion I’d have is it would be great if there was a small table or shelf on both sides of the bed.

the location of this hotel is amazing: right in the thick of the lower east side. the staff were super welcoming and personable. when i requested the "quietest room" they delivered (note: the hotel is only a block away from two major streets, bring your ear plugs). the new restaurant in the lobby is AMAZING modern japanese, the staff there super knowledgeable and the food yummy. the only real downside is the condition of the building: this place is about 20 years past a total renovation. from the walls to the windows, every inch needs to be gutted and replaced. what was once a modern building is now a sad, old and shabby one. it saddens me to see the current state. the roof top is closed, the gym doesn't have one machine that works, the infrastructure is in shambles. if you are concerned with cleanliness, this is probably not the hotel for you: not one of the pieces of art, the closets, the windows or walls has been cleaned in ages. other than that, we totally enjoyed our stay!!

Rooms were a bit stuffy, almost seemed there was smoke damage from indoor smoking. Furthermore, there were a few nights where other guests were very noisy during late hours of the night. Other than those 2 issues, it was a very good stay.

please note there are many homeless around the area

A great little hotel hidden by scaffolding and flanked by the ubiquitous NYC rats. Don’t let the exterior stop you from booking. It’s cute as a button inside with friendly and attentive staff that’s eager to help you. The room was spacious and the view was excellent. The only negative about the property are the beds which are futon style mattresses on a platform which are very short (I’m 5’6’) and have no inner spring so they aren’t supportive. The fabulous water pressure was a welcome treat. Excellent storage in the room which was a bonus.

Very nice hotel overall. The view from the 16th floor was spectacular. The bed was very comfortable and the room had enough space. Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. But the response time when something was ordered to the room was not prompt enough. No coffee at the hotel but there are enough coffee shops close by. The area seems a little unsafe but there are enough places to eat or grab a drink close by. I was very satisfied with this stay and would recommend it to anyone.

The staff was absolutely amazing!! They were so kind, caring, and thoughtful! This is the best hotel in the lower east side! I highly recommend it to all travellers and am looking forward to returning soon!

I have been staying at the Hotel On Rivington for 20 years since they opened. I'm not sure if it's under knew ownership but our most recent stay was awful. We will not be staying there again. The lobby was under construction and we were given no heads up, the staff was completely uncommunicative and not helpful about the many inconveniences that popped up during our stay. Very unfortunate.

Definitely a slightly outdated hotel but overall a nice place. My friends didn’t like their room but our room was fine. Staff were super friendly and they’re updating the hotel a bit. Lounge area is really nice and quiet with wine hour. They just opened a restaurant on the day we checked out unfortunately but looks super nice! They are definitely updating. Hoping they update the rooms and elevators. Only one elevator was working but it did end up getting fixed. Overall place was decent and spacious for the price.

The front desk staff are absolutely amazing. Professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Wonderful

This hotel is under a lot of construction at the moment so there is no lobby or ambiance of any sort. The hotel rooms are very dated (hardly any outlets no USBs, phone doesn’t work) but spacious which is rarity in nyc. Service a little bit or miss as the phones didn’t work in the room, housekeeping still rap on the door when it says do not disturb, and they don’t let delivery folks up to drop off things at your room or bring them up themselves. The wifi is problematically slow to the point where I couldn’t do meetings from my computer. The staff at the front desk was very nice though.

Friendly staff, but otherwise not recommended. Very desirable location on the LES, which is likely why they feel like they can charge these rates. But the interior was thrown together as cheaply as possible in an attempt to look trendy. Exposed drywall in the room; walls with cheap paint that's covered in spots, marks, and handprints; dirt and dust in the hallways and elevator; cheaply made light switches that don't work; outlets in weird locations and missing in convenient ones. Construction may be sound but appearance is slapdash, doesn't feel clean, and reflects no pride of ownership. Will not stay ever again.

If I could give more stars I would! The staff at Hotel on Rivington made my husband and I feel at home. Each member of the team went above and beyond to make us feel special, feel seen and have a memorable experience. The room was beautiful and clean and loved the concept art in the rooms and hallways.
The neighborhood is eclectic and artsy… we found good food and shopping near the hotel.
The hotel is also opening up an upscale Japanese restaurant in its hotel, keep an eye out for the end of April, from what their manager noted.
No other hotel staff in NYC will give you the same kind
Of care and attention than the Rivington staff!!
For Travel Reference:
We flew into Newark and took the train to Penn Station and it cost about 20 dollars each person.
On our way back home we took an Uber and it was about 100 dollars on a Monday.
Hope this helps!!!
