The spa is really great! It’s a very clean hotel and spa and we enjoyed its proximity to the beach.

The hotel is beautiful and well located. We stayed in a suite and it was great! Having a large terrace was very nice!

The hotel is modern and very comfortable, the pool is amazing with all the Thalassotherapy amenities. Very good restaurant with wonderful ocean view, and the beach just a few steps away.

I would have expected a proper coffee machine on the rooms not instant coffee .
Check in lady Sarah needs to improve her customer relations .

Our family will be back. Our best experience in France, staff incredibly friendly and my family said "here we want to come back". St Jean de Luz also a great place to take your family

In the COVID context, excellent stay at this hotel. Situation is perfect, very close to the beach.
To be noticed, reception was surprising and room not available before 4PM.
Hotel Internet access is renewed à noon (without quick access to the password), prepare a back up connection if necessary.

Great staff and location.

Spa was amazing and location. I didn’t get to have drink in the bar as went during the day and couldn’t find anyone working in the bar?

Great location, walking to anywhere in the old town was convenient. The spa was very good. The hotel is a bit dated but not so much to avoid it. Check in with Joan - not so smooth, but all other staff were excellent.

Location was excellent as was the spa area. Overall the building and rooms need updating but still comfortable and clean.

We love staying here. The thalasso is always worth the trip. A shame parking not included but if you’re willing to walk you can find free street parking. A good hotel to only use hotels.com for since trying to set something up independently is a maze of treatments and packages you don’t want. We’ll be back

Good hotel but no outside seating, sunbeds etc. Good balcony restaurant though.

Ok hotel. Didn't pay full price for our last minute booking and from that perspective it was great accommodation, would not have felt that it was value for money otherwise.
It was very clean, great beds, spacious and great bathroom. But it is a little out of date. Keys to room and spa was not working serveras times which was really annoying. And the straff do not speak English well, but on the other hand they really don't do that anywhere else either, but I guess you might expect that in this kind of hotel.
The spa is more of a normal bath area, very noisy and loud and a little old, but clean.
The hotels location is great, very close to beach and city. Also great that it is possible to park in a nearby parking house, although it does cost.

Bathroom had mould on grouting smashed tiles. Dirty skirting. Old small towels. Paper cups for our tea. The bar consisted of a few bottles of spirits!! Could not offer much choice for such a big hotel. Staff in-interested. Never again.

None of the rooms have sea views. The internet barely worked. The staff were nice. We loved Pub du Corsaires for late night drinks, especially Manon - this bar is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. They make great drinks and even have a beer (IPA) from Boise, Idaho. Open to 2 every night which was appreciated in this sleepy town. Chez Theo has very good food and service.

Helianthal is a lovely hotel. I stayed at another spa hotel in Saint Jean de Luz last year and found the atmosphere there cold and unwelcoming. In contrast, Helianthal is warm and cosy and full of kind people (staff and guests) who make your stay that more delightful. The seawater spa parcours is close to visiting heaven. Heaven on earth with walks on the beach in your dressing gown, in February! I hope to return every year, maybe twice a year.

The wifi was terrible. Beach access so easy. Breakfast good but expensive.

Said it all above, asking me to right more is stupid

We had a great fortnight's holiday here. Our superior rooms were smart and spacious with good air conditioning and with balconies that enjoyed shade in the afternoon. The location is very good - effectively right on the beach with the town centre no more than few minutes' walk away. The gym and spa facilities were excellent. There was not a great deal of fluent English spoken amongst the staff but with goodwill on both sides this was not an issue. We cannot comment on the food - there are so many good places to eat in St Jean-de-Luz that we ate out all the time. Both Hotel Helianthal and St Jean-de-Luz are highly recommended!

Expedia asked me for a check-in rating, but I was afraid the hotel might backlash on me if I rated the hotel badly while still staying there. So now that I am safely home, I can only say that it was disappointing, starting with check-in. First, someone who spoke English had to be fetched. Then we were told that parking accommodations were not worth one-night stays, such as us. The room was all right, but far beneath the previous 4-star hotel where we stayed further north. It boasted excellent storage facilities. However, things slid down from there. The carpet was horribly stained. I didn't know how to rate "room cleanliness" when the room had been cleaned, but not to the point of removing stains from the carpet or the usual problems of seaside establishments, such as corroded chrome fixtures or worn wood. Why were no international TV channels offered? No sea views. Definitely not a 4-star hotel.

We were very pleased with this hotel. We loved the town as well. Beach gorgeous and you can access directly from pool and spa. We hope to return next year.

Booked a superior room with terrace. Terrace was shared with four other rooms with only a couple of pot planters with weedy plants separating each rooms space in an attempt to provide some privacy. The terrace was furnished with two ancient sun beds, not even a table, chairs or a sun parasol. It was covered in pine needles and had weeds growing between the paving slabs. A pretty poor show. The main bar near the dining room and sun deck was closed. After some enquiries we discovered that the Hotel was closing for a year in 2015 for refurbishment and it looks as if services have been run down in preparation. The room was fine except for a 15" step-up through the door to get on the terrace. The WC was fitted in a very narrow space and you needed to reverse in. Booked for 5 days and left after two. The refurbishment needs to spot on for us to return. At £167 per night it was an expansive mistake.

Hotel is located near beach and downtown
The staff was pleasant
air conditioned did not work even though we asked to fix it

Very good. Staff service most helpful. Rooms small would prefer larger for longer stay. Hotel needs updating.
