Hotel has been refurbished in parts. Our room was small but the bed was so comfortable. Small things need to still be addressed- toilet seat not fixed firmly, flickering light in bathroom not fixed.
Staff didn’t seem to be focused on customer care as one fellow was on his phone the whole time when in reception.
Service at bar was very disappointing.
Outside entry was dangerous in wet weather.

We had a lovely two night break here. The room was spotless with a super comfy bed. Room was warm amd cosy. Delighted with the wee extras, hotchocolate, bottled water and bathroom essentials. Staff were very friendly. We will definitely be back.

Central location, on the promenade, walkable to anywhere in Oban, very few available parking spaces if you are arriving by car, we were lucky to get one. The hotel is recently refurbished, has its own restaurant and bar.

The staff asked me to give an honest opinion:
Reception staff were excellent. Warm and friendly and very helpful.
The single room which has been refurbished was not large, but imho was perfectly sufficient. Even hadca double bed. Also nice to see was that it had Tea/coffee with a biscuit and even a free bottle of water. This is something many expensive hotels dont offer these days!! Tbf the refurb is ok, but not perfect, the laminate flooring is afraid of the cheaper variety and is already showing signs of being scuffed and chipped. The windows dont open, and unfortunately the hot water takes 5 minutes to reach the tap and shower.
I would also suggest a small bedside lamp be put in. There is a downlight, but its very bright and if youre lying down reading, shines right in your face.
Its clear the main refurb expense went on the reception and dining room which are both very nice.
In summary, i would be happy to stay again if they sort out the issues mentioned. Hotel is in a good location and also the breakfast included in the price was very good and much cheaper than what most hotels charge these days.

Not sure where the bad rating came from, but we had a fabulous stay. Location was great. The room itself was good - clean, enough outlets, nice shower. The common areas were a bonus - especially the dining room. And the staff was amazing. One worker came outside in the cold to help us see where to park, and Prescious, who works in the dining area, was super friendly and great. Would highly recommend.

We were unable to open the window in our room so we got offered an upgrade to a much better category for free by the super-friendly lady at the reception

Good position and hotel in Oban.
Signs of refurbished room we stayed in.
Car paring in Oban is a challenge but to be air we arrived around 7pm on Saturday night so town was very busy.
Overall stay in hotel was satisfactory, but Markie Dans bar was a great pub and breakfast in a little cafe around the corner was great also.
Overall Oban is a place I would like to spend more time on next trip

The hotel seemed ok when we checked in, clean BUT our room had a window that wouldn’t close and no curtains. Consequently we weren’t able to quieten the (considerable) early morning noise or the light in the morning. Between the two we managed about 4hrs sleep. Both WiFi and TV signal was patchy at best. Nice but wouldnt go back. The shower was good

It was within walking to shops and restaurants, and also the port. There was no parking available on site.

Great hotel in the centre of Oban, very close to the distillery. Room was nice, and breakfast was good. Staff are very helpful and friendly.

Last minute booking, so not cheap (£182 for a night) but beds more comfortable and shower more powerful than a Premiere Inn at least. Had to download Netflix app as none were set up beyond terrestrial TV and pool not available due to refurbishment, so not fully sure why it cost that much. Parking was terrible (i.e. there was no free parking available - paid to park across the street). Great views of Oban harbour however. Did the job.

had a great time, nice hotel, situated right on the water, close to all pubs and food places, great all round experience

Very conveniently sited hotel. Nice, friendly staff. The shower had the smallest cubicle I've ever seen! TV signal was very bad, not a big problem for us as we didn't watch much but for those who do, would be very frustrating. Asked for a glass of white wine in the bar but was told they only had red. We just went out to another bar. Overall, nice stay

Excellent service by the staff. The room toward the backyard and no AC. Outside our window we had the outflow from the kitchen fan. Great location and stay overall.
0.5 / 5.0
No heat controls in the room. Windows painted shut during their partial (refurbishment). Room temperature continually increase through the night to match the outrageous heat in the public space. Shower flooded the bathroom as door was ill fitting. Restaurant was overpriced and food was average, what they served did not match the details on the menu. Staff taking personal phone calls while I ate.

Great location but the newly renovated property wont last. Cheap renovations executed and will need a new one by next year. Nice people, clean rooms, and a budget friendly stay.

Excellent hotel, staff very courteous and food was superb. Room was very comfortable, clean and spacious and bathroom was massive. We also had a brilliant view. Bar area was lovely. Can’t say a bad word. Breakfast is defo worth having.

This newly renovated Muthu hotel, The Regent, will please those who like to be within walking distance of the center. The rooms in the historic section are comfortably spacious with high ceilings and large windows.
The new interior has mostly maintained historic elements with whimsical decor elements here and there.

We were really disappointed with our stay. The lift was not in working condition, which should have been mentioned on the site when booking. Our room was tiny and the bed blocked the door to the bathroom, had we been any bigger there is no way we’d squeeze in. Staying on the 4th floor in May, for some odd reason the heat was still on in the hallways making the rooms very warm with no way to cool it off. There is also no parking on site and staff were very unclear about where to
Park and actually advised us to park in a no overnight parking area. Overall this was definitely not worth the amount paid and I would not stay at this hotel chain again.

The room was very small and the lighting was far too bright, no ambience..parking was a challenge to find somewhere within walking distance.
2.5 / 5.0
Location - excellent, on foreshore road, easy walking distance to main street and ferry terminal
Service - very attentive. Parking is very limited, most guests need to park on the street or overnight car park (fees apply 9am to 6pm, free overnight)
Accommodation - excellent, recently refurbished
Eating - breakfast was good, continental or full cooked
Wi-fi - excellent, in room
Summary - highly recommended

We stayed in Muthu Alexandra Oban hotel since its sister hotel Muthu Oban was being renovated. The hotel was great. Would stay again

Receptionist informative and very pleasant.
Room comfortable and clean.
Breakfast, plenty of choice but a bit disappointing. Alot of the cooked food was, at most, tepid if not cold. My bacon was tough from being left in heat too long. Not a good way to start my day.

Hotel is dated. Not clean. Needs refurbished. The shower is like a water canon. Not for the faint hearted. The wall was half papered. We got an 11 am check out. House keeping was chapping at 9am, hoovering outside the room early. Just awful
The lady on reception was nice and helpful
I would never return and never recommend it

The hotel has seen better days and needs major investment to restore it to its former glory The Art Deco exterior and interior require major work. Some of the interior paintwork had been touched up however this had been done very badly and flooring curtains carpets and hand rails were smeared with white gloss paint all adding to the general feeling of being run down and uncared for! The lift was broken this wasn’t helpful as I have a heart condition and I struggled with the stairs .
Our allocated room had seen better days and the noise from the extraction unit from a nearby restaurant was deafening but to be fair the receptionist we were promptly offered a choice of 2 alternative rooms . We opted for a room with a view to the harbour but this necessitated me struggling with another 2 flights of stairs !! The beds were comfortable and the linen and towels were clean. The shower worked well . The bathroom was clean and had been painted however the general appearance was spoiled again by smears of gloss paint on the flooring which any reputable painter and decorator would have removed . Breakfast was good and plentiful . Staff were friendly and helpful I think possibly to cover their embarrassment at the state of things . What a shame for this grand old building and the staff who work there ! Not to mention the guests ! In a strange way we are drawn to go back and see how things have worked out!

Hotel was tired looking and seems to be going through a renovation. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was excellent with a good powerful shower... once I managed to get it working!!! Breakfast was ok. Not a fan off deep fried sausages thiugh.

The reception was very friendly and efficient. The location of the hotel was really good. Sadly it’s run down and in need of an upgrade. The wall in my room was only partly wallpapered for some reason. The room was well equipped with tea/coffee and toiletries and was also clean. Not sure you can expect more for the price to be honest

On arrival the manager was very jovial and standoffish . He gave us our key and off we went to our room when we got to our room there was only one bed we had asked for a double and a single as our son was with us . I went to change our room and the manager was coming up on the lift with another key which was fine , he took us to the room which he had to knock incase someone was in which was alarming in its self . There was no sea view but promised to change us over in the morning , on the morning my partner went to the front desk and the young girl who was pleasant said that it would not be a problem come back in and hour and the too
Will be changed , we went for breakfast and came back she said it would be an hour so we went about our business and on arrival back at the hotel the manager took us to one side and said it wasn’t possible to change rooms or a refund . Which would have been fine if we hadn’t paid for the sea view on the first place , he offered an extra night which wasn’t feasible as we were both working the next day , totally ruined the feel good factor of why we were there to enjoy ourselves. I would give this hotel a body swerve and pay a bit more extra for somewhere else . Trust me I’m doing you a favour.
