Hacienda San Gabriel Palmas is a gem close to CDMX, and easily my top pick for a quick getaway! The beauty of the place is unmatched, offering the perfect backdrop for some much-needed relaxation. However, I do have a note of caution based on my experience: the hacienda primarily operates through hosting weddings. Despite planning my visit from Tuesday to Friday to avoid the weekend hustle and noise highlighted in other reviews, the preparation for upcoming weddings still impacted our stay. By Wednesday, the focus had shifted towards setting up for the next event, resulting in noticeable noise, restricted access to certain areas, and a staff busy with wedding preparations. At one point, we even had to vacate the pool area due to the overpowering smell from a treatment being applied to the dining room floor.
I understand that weddings are a significant part of the hacienda's business, but it's something for potential visitors to consider if they’re seeking a completely peaceful getaway. It’s a beautiful place, no doubt, but your experience might vary depending on their event schedule.

Beautiful historic property. Well maintained and full of charm.

Great hacienda. Personnel were great, food and all was execellent. Except the room it self. Bed is uncomfortable. Rooms are screaming for an update. I understand its meant to be an old hacienda . But updating the rooms a litle would make me want to come back again. And please put a lock on the doors

Everything was excellent. Would have loved to have a fitness center although there is a trail for walking/jogging.

Good place, just the pool was cold and I ordered a special room with jacuzzi that couldn’t get into a hot temperature

A wonderfully preserved historic property with modern amenities. A very relaxing and enjoyable experience. Highly recommend it. The spa was top notch.

Great weekend away from Mexico City. High level and friendly service, good quality of food, enormous gated area with tennis, paddle, spa, horseback riding and an amazing swimming pool. Will definitely return and can only recommend.

I loved the Hacienda and will certainly go back. It’s a museum.

I love this hotel. I think it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. The grounds are gorgeous and the staff is kind and helpful. The major complaint I have is the policy that the price of each room only includes one child. The first line of the hotel description on Expedia says “This family-friendly hotel...” A hotel Is not family friendly if only one child is included in the price and then you have to pay $30 per child after that. I have never heard of a hotel for families that assumes you only have one child. They actually suggested that my husband and I split up into two different rooms with the children because we have four children. My children are all under the age of 8 and we can all easily fit in one of the rooms here. In fact, on Expedia you can’t even get a room here if you put 2 adults and 2 children in the search. It tells you that it exceeds the maximum number of guests. Expedia needs to change the family friendly wording because as gorgeous as this place is, I don’t feel that they actually want families to stay here. We were told there was horseback riding and when we went to ask, they said it was only for adults. This is the perfect place for adults or adults who only have one child. I want to come again, but I hate having to pay extra.

The old Hacienda has only 20 rooms and the place is just spectacular, very well taken care of, but the best part aside from the waterfall, pool and gardens is the staff, everybody is just helping to make your stay fantastic
