Air conditioning needs to requested separately and is not included in the Expedia quoted rate
We had two fans in the room and a door that opened to the lake and we were comfortable as we were only in the room after sunset.
The dining was excellent.

Fabulous location , wonderful hotel . Very comfortable beds, superb food , we booked half board ,which even included afternoon snacks. Only thing to criticise in our room ( we booked a superior double with sea view ) was the shower, very small and the shower head not fixed properly and making it difficult to shower, we called maintainence, but it wasn’t fixed . Trains regularly going past the hotel also very noisy during the night
4.3
Lovely hotel, staff amazing, direct access to lake for swimming in summer. Only let down is no air conditioning in rooms, just fans so quite warm at night.

Good hotel clean

A bit of emperor's new clothes situation going on here. Wants to be fancy but isn't.
No shorts allowed in bars and restaurants but sweatpants were. Food was average, breakfast seemed store bought.
Staff was great, location also. Spa was also nice.
We had a stinky drain and there's no ac.
It has potential but it's not exploited probably.

Wonderful stay with great staff. Bruno in the dining room was an exceptional waiter with great attention to detail. We will definitely be recommending The Grand Hotel to our friends!
4.3
The perfect spot to enjoy Zell am See.
4.3
Fantastic on all levels, especially the dining - will return!
4.3
Excellent breakfast options, amazing 5 course dinners as well as afternoon snacks, just what you needed after a day skiing. Grand spa area was fantastic treatment for post ski recovery. Absolutely loved our stay at the Grand best location.
4.3
The hotel was wonderful & staff were amazing, always extremely helpful. The area itself was beautiful with some many options for delicious meals.

Flat pillow resulted in pain at hubby back for the rest of our trip. We stayed in various hotels prior to this and had no issue. Although they provided different types of pillows but are really flat. They damaged my luggage too. It was a new samsonite luggage I bought in Austria as the one I had was damaged by ground control at the airport. Just 1 week old and it’s damaged again, it was carried and put into our room by the valet. They offered compensation though, by waiving off our room service dinner. But I rather they be careful about handling our stuffs than such compensation.

What a wonderful hotel! Beautiful historic building in a stunning location with wonderful facilities, food and fantastic staff. I received a free upgrade and had a huge wellness room with an in room sauna and a stunning balcony overlooking the lake. The half board was such great value with a lovely 2 course mid afternoon snack, fabulous 5 course gourmet dinner and wonderful breakfast spread. They even dropped me off at the station as it was snowing. Lovely staff throughout the hotel, and great spa and pool facilities. Highly recommended, I will definitely be back!
4.3
The hotel itself is excellent with optimum access to the lake. The hotel employees are dedicated and professional.
We will not go back there because most guests are from the Middle East. It's like being in Dubai but in Austria.
One day, this hotel will have to choose its clientele.

Beautiful location and room. Really pleased with our stay. Big size lake view room. Service was really good. Breakfast and dinner were both great and waiting staff were amazing. Reception staff was very helpful and friendly.
4.3
We had an incredible stay at the Grand Hotel. Fantastic service with friendly, knowledgeable, helpful reception staff, beautiful facilities, beautiful views, delicious food. Perfect location to explore Zell am See and enjoy the lake. Loved the complementary paddleboat and bicycle options. A really special treat, we felt completely spoiled and the hotel is absolutely gorgeous, as are the spectacular mountains around Zell am See, jaw-dropping, 'Wow'!
4.3
Location is very good, but the furniture is very old and consumer the beds and mattress very bad not comfortable and it’s noisy place because it’s near the lake and in the center. The parking it’s has valet parking not included the price of the room booking.
4.3
The hotel wins by its incredible view from the room. But the room was a little poor and need an update. The type of hotelguests that comes here, are noisy and rude.
4.3
Since I entered the room I requested them several time to fix the AC with no proper response no acting to help.

This hotel is amazing and a must try for all who loves a quality hotel. Professional and friendly staff, great location, and the food is amazing. Remember to treat the staff with normal respect (as one always should!) and you'll have a stay you will never forget. I will be coming back to Zell am See and this hotel, due to its staff! Thank you for having me as a guest.

There was a horrible smell that emanated from the shower room. Smelled like sewage. Originally the area smelled more like bleach (as if they tried to correct it). But as the evening wore on - it became overpowering. We shut off the door and opened the windows int he middle of the night and were okay. When we drew the hotel's attention to it in the morning all they did was tell us that we should have brought it to their attention in the middle of the night - that they have someone on duty 24/7 - as if we were at fault. This is a shame because it put a damper on wha would have been a delightful stay. I would argue they probably should have apologized profusely and knocked some euros of the room charge. But they didn't. Pretty bush league for a fancy/expensive hotel.

This is the second time we have stayed here and we love it. Fabulous location, very friendly staff, very comfortable rooms. The breakfast is fantastic (I think the best we have ever had,) Apparently the evening meals are great too but went out.
The swimming pool area is lovely. As I wasn't skiing I had it all to myself in the mornings - I understand it gets busy with children in the afternoon.
Our only gripe is the position of our room - 223. It overlooked both the lake and the town so we got best of both worlds.... until Monday night when the goods trains started rumbling past - almost continuously. There are also two family rooms next door and unfortunately we must have had the noisiest children ever staying in them who started shouting and running around from about 6.30 am.
But that's our only gripe. THe hotel itself is lovely and we would definitely stay again.

Excellent staff , lovely hotel

This grand old hotel has all the glamour and old charm you see in the photos. It takes you back to a different time & if you like that, it’s all you need. It is not all redone/repainted or remodelled for today, so don’t expect that. The hotel is beautiful and the view/location cannot be beat.
The staff were amazing, so helpful and smiling always.
The breakfast is pleasant & included in most packages.
The lounge upstairs was an experience in itself, so do check it out.
The spa was dated, but quite cozy & again fit the bill for relaxation.
Overall we loved it!

Staying at this hotel was the primary reason I stopped in this city. I was looking forward to a beautiful room overlooking the water and a cozy scene as depicted in pictures. I need to remember that pictures lie. I was initially given a room on the 6th floor. The view was fine, but it was SO HOT and there was no air. Reception (Thalia) was extremely helpful and offered a downgrade to an air condition room. While the view was better and I paid for a higher room, I also needed to sleep so I moved. I regretted that decision as I was placed in a different building which was not convenient to getting to meals, etc and I discovered spiders. Parking was also confusing as it was not communicated just to pull up to the door and I ended up paying for parking twice. My luggage was damaged by staff when I was leaving the hotel and I wrote the hotel with no response from them regarding this issue. When I went to go to dinner that night there was an issue finding my name on the room list and I was made to feel like a trespasser. Then once I was settled they uprooted me to move me to another table. Completely unnecessary and insulting with people staring at me wondering what the issue was. My server also made fun of my trying to speak German to him causing more stares. People also kept coming by asking my room number repeatedly. I was not comfortable having my room number repeatedly stated out loud while traveling alone. What should have been a relaxing stay was sadly anything but.

Beautiful location on the lake. Hotel room slightly dated however good soundproofing. Only niggle No iron or ironing room. You could pay to have it done done if needed
4.3
The hotel is very old.
the staff is great.
The breakfast was great
There was a spider hanging in front of our window.
No one informed us that the parking is not free, we were surprise that we had to pay them for that
4.3
Couple of things, such a prestigious hotel but they don’t take American Express, and for the first time EVER a hotel that charges you for the little sachet of crappy instant coffee. Poor show.
4.3
We loved the Grand Hotel. The service was great from check-in to check-out. I found the beds super comfy, although some found them too hard. Breakfast was great with a fabulous choice. We were leaving early on our last day and they let us have breakfast even though it was way before "opening time". We would love to come back in the summer.
4.3
The location overlooking the lake was spectacular the fine, friendly and exceptional service provided by staff members. A big plus for providing shuttle service back and forth ski lodge. Will surely continue using your hotels anywhere located on future trips.
4.3
Over all the experience was great
4.3
Beutiful hotel but for $300.00 a night the room was disappointed, smal and a train running many times at night.
4.3
Amazing location, stunning view from our room balcony. Staff were friendly and cooperative. The location of the hotel is the best in Zell am see area.
Breakfast time is always busy, and staff are busy serving different people, so better to come early. The outdoor tables closed most of the time when it’s cloudy weather.
4.3
It was a wonderful place to stay in, however it was very hard to find a place to exchange money..
the hotel is amazing and the breakfast was beyond expectations… love this hotel 👍👍
4.3
Great hotel with a remarkable location and history. Convenient spa facilities with private access to the lake and pedalo for rent.
On the downside, the hotel restaurant does not keep the tables for hotel guests and we end up wandering around the city to have a dinner (super hard to find a free table without reservation) the staff was apologetic and admitted it's quite embarrassing. Other small things are lack of in-room A/C and poor minibar fridge cooling level but nothing really major.
4.3
excellent location, nice hotel, little worn out, but has lot of character.
4.3
Amazing food, great facilities and wonderful staff, attentive, proactive and thoughtful. We were there many years ago and came back again now. We will come again for sure! Thank you to the employees of this great hotel!
4.3
Lovely hotel in fantastic settings. Rooms are well equipped, bathrooms are extremely clean. Ample food choices at both breakfast and dinner. The staff are functional and efficient, occasionally you get some humour and a smile as well. The main negative is the lack of coordination with the free ski bus to Schmittenhohe which ends up being a free for all. Some from of queuing system would avoid this unpleasant start to the day, alternatively just take a taxi, the public bus or walk to CitiExpress.
4.3
The room is NOTHING like the pictures on either hotels.com or the hotel website itself. I strongly suspect that they have one room that looks semi-decent and that’s what is being used for sales purposes. The rest are garbage, at least insofar as our room was concerned. Considering that we paid the same amount for 4 nights here that a suite at the Ritz-Carlton in Hong Kong costs (actually, it’s currently less to have the Hong Kong suite) the value for money is a joke. I would almost go so far as to state that the hotel is clickbait personified.
4.3
my husband and I really loved our Deluxe Double room with sauna. The room had 2 balconies overlooking the lake and the mountains. The room was spotlessly clean. sauna was a must during winter months. We used it every day. We were on half board and the food was varied. The hotel is very close to the pier where the cruise boat departs from. There is also a very pleasant après-ski bar just opposite the hotel. the room was extremely quiet. We enjoyed the peace and quiet. Usually in the hotels there is a constant noise of doors slamming , but not in this hotel. We had very good sleep there.
4.3
It is a very nice property and very well located.
I would think it is the landmark of the town.
It is very classic but needs to be remodelled as it is very old
