Unique place. Will never forget!
4.0 / 10.0
The common areas are truly excellent, with beautiful decoration, new equipment, and more. I would rate these areas as nearly 5-star hotel quality. The hotel restaurant is also outstanding, offering exceptional food, atmosphere, and service.
However, the rooms are simpler and more basic, even in the higher-tier ones like the one I booked. I believe a 3-star rating is more appropriate for the rooms.
Overall, I would rate the hotel as around 3.5 stars.

This was a great stay. It is starting to look dated but progress in up grades can be seen around the resort. Resturant was great. Lots of choices for food and beach space in area around by foot.
For our first time in Brazil from Canada felt safe walking around even at night
Only bad thing was heavy sewage smell in bathrooms all three of our rooms with no vent fans
Staff at front desk was over the top, most of the time with English option.

Nice property near the Itupua beach. Not that far from the airport, a little far from the city center. Clean Hotel, good food, incredible beach.

It is a beautiful and boutique property , very special and unique. The service was fabulous and the staff was so friendly! We love the breakfast each morning and the pool is amazing. It was great for our family and would recommend to anyone traveling with kids or just a couple looking to spend a few nights away. A truly lovely little getaway in Itapua!

A nice hotel with excellent service from very good staff but a few rough edges. The fit and finish around the hotel is beginning to show its age. The sofa in my room was not comfortable and the chair at the desks is too low. However the food is excellent and they even allow you to order from the restaurant menu as room service.

As a fan of bossa nova and Vinicius de Moraes, I really wanted to have an enjoyable stay and leave a good review. However, it was very difficult to get quality sleep in the hotel/suite. There was little to no noiseproofing in the room, waking me up multiple times every night from people passing by the hallway, staff using their walkie talkies, and the opening of the door from the room across from mine. There was construction every single day except on Sunday of my ten day stay, starting at 7am. The property was beautiful and the staff was very polite, however I was quite disappointed
and won't be staying there again because of the noise.

The staff are delightful and go out of the way to be helpful. Across the street from the beach which is ideal. Beautiful grounds

This hotel must be updated with new furniture and repainted .. My bed had bedbugs. I got major bumps on my back and it is inching so badly . This is not a hotel that should get 4 star for it. I feel very sad for being ripped off on this deal.
STAY AWAY !!!!!

Uniqueness is the history about it, being the house of the famous poet.
Would recommend to improve/upgrade overall facilities

We very much enjoyed it!
Unfortunately we had to leave a day early, because of a death on the family!
I would like to back again!

My stay was great the staff was friendly and professional. They are way ahead of the curb. With the problem of the pandemic I and my wife was greatly surprised by the excellent hospitality. I only wish their cable service was better and they had at least one English Channel

this is an iconic place to stay.
just around the corner from Itapoa light house ,where Vinicius de Moraes lived with actress Jesse Jesse and where some of the great Bossa Nova songs were composed along with Toquinho , one of the great partners Vinicius had.
The hotel staff was incredible and the Restaurant is much better than one would expect from a Hotel place.
this is the third time we stay there and not the last....

I didn’t have an adaptor to charge my cellphone.
They don’t provide amenities such as razors, comb, toothpaste, etc

The hotel is set across the road from a beach with a beautiful view of the lighthouse. The room was adequate, plain, spacious, and needed updating. It had a good size balcony which we enjoyed seeing the sea from the 3rd floor along with palm trees and birds singing. The 2 pools are small but clean and a nice temperature that was refreshing. The service was good and friendly. The area felt safe and the hotel was walled in. The onsite historical restaurant had good food and a plentiful breakfast along with seating indoors and out. Overall the experience was very good and relaxing for an older style hotel.

Guy helped us with parking and luggage. Showed us around and the room...telling us about the beautiful Vinicius house. Enjoyed the service and delicious dinner. Very nice, quiet, romantic hotel. Ah and check in was quick and breakfast delicious too.

We were every year in this hotel since 5 years. My two brothers came to take from there. But the staff at the reception did not let my family enter in my room ;((

The location is great as ít is next to the beach and the light house. I could literally walk across the street and be at the beach.
The restaurant is nice but breakfast menu is very limited.
The hotel was clean but the room was smaller than expected and seemed to be a run down place as 2 1/2 or 3 star hotel only.

It was a great stay and we were treated well. The restaurant was also delicious and the beach across the road was divine.

Hotel was very nice. The bottled water was too expensive for the small bottle.

The only down side was that I had no WiFi in the room at all and the bikes weren’t available to rent at all

Mar Brasil was a great place to stay for an airport layover. It was a short ride from the airport, yet it was at the beach. It was adjacent to Farol de Itapua, and i had a view of the lighthouse and the surf from my room.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The facility and rooms were very well maintained, which is unusual in my experience in Bahia.
The hotel was located in an area away from a lot of commercial activity. This made it a peaceful experience. There are a few good restaurants within a few blocks, but no stores that i found close by. it's about 1.5 miles to the main touristy part of Itapua; I'm glad i didn't stay in that area.
