You won't find more friendly staff members at any hotel. From the front lobby to the cleaning staff, everyone made us feel like we were family, photos were taken upon our departure. The hotel is conveniently located on the main road into the city from the train station located less than 10 minutes away. The rooms are interesting, ours included hand painted frescoes on the walls. Breakfast buffet was excellent with plenty of choice served by staff who truly feel proud of their hotel. Tropea is such a beautiful if busy town with lovely beaches and clear blue waters. Nearby Pizzo is also worth a visit. Excellent stay in a very special place.

Very clean and nice apartment, big enough for 2 people, having a lift in somewhere like Rome is always great. The restaurant right at the entrance is amazing

The staff is very friendly. The location is amazing to walk to the most beautiful parts of tropea is only a few minutes away.
We booked the suite. This is an underground room with no ventilation and air conditioning was broken. We couldn’t sleep all night from how hot and stuffy it was in the room even though the weather outside was not warm. There was no draw sheet on the mattress and we found a cockroach in our room. We could have left the sliding door open for some air however that would have felt unsafe. We would have been better off with a regular room since those have windows. There’s also no designated parking so we spent 30 euros paying for parking for one night. This property was ok and definitely not what I expected of a 4 star rated hotel. This must be an old rating.

I spent extra for a Triple Room and the woman at reception tried to convince me that I did not. I was offered the only room they had left, a double, for myself and my family. The room itself was not in a state of good repair, and was dark like a dungeon with the lights off. The mattress was too big for its frame, causing it to bow concave up, making for a terrible night’s sleep. The bathroom was an absolute horror. The toilet seat was cracked and glued back together. The shower in the stall did not work, and use of the tub flooded the bathroom. The handheld shower wand was full of mildew. The light above the sink flickered on and off. It was rather obvious that no real effort was put into maintaining the room. The only redeeming quality was the buffet breakfast, but that was far from enough to overshadow the misery of the room. Considering the amount spent, it was a travesty. To anyone considering staying here, Caveat emptor.

The property looked charming, but there was no advertised bar, no room service, no hairdryer, no advertised gym facility, the rooms themselves were small musty and overall disappointing.

Beautiful old building from the 1800’s which has been converted to a hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. Best breakfast we have had in Italy.

Very nice place, our room was very spacious for four people. Location was great! I would not recomend going in August, very, very busy.

Profile of Hotel Villa Antica on Expedia website was very misleading when it indicates 0.32 km (which suggest only approximately 300 meters from the beach). I reserved two rooms for my family of six based on such false information. In fact, the hotel is located on top of a hill / mountain in the main town of Tropea and at least 1 km distance from the beach. I re-booked (not with Expedia) the next day at another hotel located immediately in front of the beach which offered better accommodations at a lower price than Hotel Villa Antica.

From setting up my shuttle service from the airport to arriving at the hotel, everything about the Hotel Villa Antica was very well done. I really appreciated the friendliness of the staff. The location was incredible! Although it's not directly on the beach, it was right in the middle of all the action of the city centre (and a short walk to the beach). The room looked exactly as it did in the photographs, and although it looks old, it was super clean. Didn't come across a single bug in my room. The shower was also quite nice (considering it's a small town in the south of Italy and I'm used to North American standards). I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Tropea.

Hotel has lots of original features and we stayed in a lovely old room. It could do with a bit of updating but we liked the atmosphere and very large room. Breakfast was typical continental. Staff were friendly. Good value and great being in such a good location.

Charming hotel with friendly staff. Rooms were large and with a personal outside seating area. The pictures on the website do'nt do the hotel justice.

Our room was very nice I warm colors and "antic" wall paintings. Nice staff and proper cleaning. Breakfast was ok regarding we are in Italy.
AC was broken and they had replaced it with a useless type of AC that stod on the floor and was very noisy with very poor cooling effect. Traffic is disturbing in the rooms nearest the street.
They could try try to harmonize light source in each armature regarding color temperature, strength and so.
We had some nice days in a nice hotel and a absolute marvelous cosy old town.

We recently stayed at Villa Antica for four nights. The place was really cute and the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Great breakfast too.

Hotel staff was great, and the hotel grounds are very attractive. The rooms are each through a door and then up their own full flight of narrow stairs, making hauling heavy luggage up difficult. The heat in our room did not work and the bed was unbelievably hard.

Perfectly situated in the centre of town near parking, liquor, shopping, restaurants. The room was spacious with very high ceilings and nicely furnished. The shower was a bit odd, like a small space capsule. Not ideal for a large man. The service was great, breakfast was better than most similar priced hotels. Highly recommend

I'm going to make this quick and painless, unlike my stay there. It's only positive is its location. That's it.
Old, dated, very archaic feel. I understand it advertises as an antique place but not what we were expecting. Shower was tiny, bed was a rock, AC barely worked. TV and phone did not work. Not a pleasant stay at all.
There was one woman there, I forget her name but she seemed like she ran the show, she was nice and accommodating but the place itself leaves much to be desired.

This is a nice Villa near to the station on the top of the hill, is a only a short walk away down to the beach. I would be happy to stay here again. The room was a nice large size.

We booked the room 6 months ago but when we arrived, the hotel changed our lodging to a b&b style room ten mins away, down a dark alley. No lift, no car access, with our 28kg bag we had to climb 6 flights of stairs (54 steps). Noisy room, the crowd in town didn't leave until past midnight. No code for Internet access as no staff around. What's more - the shower only gave a trickle of water and it's cold ! All in all - disgraceful is the word to describe this hotel.

Only downside is parking and a very hard mattress. Charming hotel within walking distance of town center. Would stay here again.

Impossible parking; clueless staff; long, narrow stairway to a small, cramped room with a too-hard bed; noise all night long; wifi on the fritz. Computer down.

The hotel is an easy downhill walk from the train station and right on the main road that leads into the town center. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was served in a cheery room. The common areas outside are pleasant for relaxation, but there is little common area space inside the hotel.

Very charming hotel, close to everything. Staff was great. Room was a little small (that's fairly normal in Europe) and was a bit dark, but it was very nicely appointed and functional. Great breakfast terrace and room. Very nice place to stay.

Hotel is in a fantastic location. A 10min walk to the main part of the beach. Clean. Very basic with regard to facilities but the proximity to everything makes up for it tenfold.

We have stayed here twice in the past five years and would recommend it to anyone visiting Tropea. The rooms are clean and the staff is very helpful. They serve a good breakfast, but best of all is its location right in the heart of the town.

Lovely hotel, we had a lounge area as well as bedroom and bathroom. The rooms are beautifully decorated with paintings on the walls.
The hotel is situated within easy access to shops, bars, restaurants and the beach is not too far.
I used the gym a couple of times whilst I was there which was very convenient for me.

A beautiful and charming hotel, very well located to explore the town and not too far from the beach.
Although english was hardly spoken by the staff they did all they could to make our stay enjoyable.
Breakfast was plentiful and lovely each day.
Our only complaint was that we found our bed to be quite hard and uncomfortable.

The Villa Antica is right in the heart of Tropea only 15 mins walk to the beach. The rooms are clean & spacious, the hotel is nicely decorated and the staff are friendly. All in all it is one of the better hotels I have stayed in in recent years.
