The hotel was situated very near to the main square. The room was well equiped but had a fan instead of aircon. The breakfast was a little basic.

Right in the center. Make a right at the H&M. Run down. Elevator broken. Good view. Mostly quiet. Needs new carpeting.
4.0 / 10.0
Hotel palace charges way too much for a 4 star hotel. The rooms are very shabby with old carpeting. There is a 4D movie theatre next door and you will hear and feel the vibrations of the movie. The floors are wooden and the walls are paper thin and you will hear everything. The bathrooms are very tiny and old. There is no air conditioning. I got a fan but the fan made a lot of noise. There is also no mini fridge. However it is very conveniently located near Piazza Maggiore and is near all the major sights. The hotel is about an 15-20 min walk to the train station. Overall it is fine for a one night stay out of convenience but it’s not good value for your money.

L’hôtel est bien placé dans le centre historique. Des que vous entrez dans le hall vous vous rendez compte que l’hôtel est dans son jus original. Very old and tired. Very tired. The carpets are wrecked, the wall paintings need a new paint job.
The worse was the family room with 3 beds. The room is set apart from the others, in the fire exit stairwell. The lock is with an old key and you need to lock the door or it can open by just pushing it . Inside the room there is no standard aircon. We had a standing aircon with its big air pipe’s exit on the window ledge. As a consequence you have to live in the room with the window opened! Day and night when you have 30 degC outside at night! The pipe made of thin plastic was cut in 2 places so you were receiving inside the room the strong hot air from the aircon together with the cold one ..impossible to sleep at all sweating like crazy. Then the bathroom door was perfectly joined on the door frame on the top half. Bottom half had a large space between the frame and the door. The carpet was so old looking dirty but was obviously vaccumed. This hotel will be a fantastic hotel they refurbish it. Until then don’t book any 3 beds room.

The location is fantastic! It’s conveniently close to several landmarks and tourist attractions, shops & restaurants.
The hotel had a charming, old-world feel, like stepping into a living museum with antique furniture and classic paintings.
The room was spacious & clean. Shower worked well but Bathroom is small.
No air conditioning With warm night, it made sleeping uncomfortable. Bad breakfast. The options were limited & food quality wasn’t great. If you travel by car, the hotel has garage but limited spaces. Friendly staff.

Staff was kind , we only stayed for one evening ,however the toilet ran the whole night and the tank leaked everywhere. The bed was horrible you could feel the springs in the mattress dig in to your body every time you moved. However it is located right in the heart of Bologna so exploring the city was nice and easy .

There is a problem with the heating system. The heating was weak, so I told the hotel and they brought a small heater, but it was not warm enough and I slept with my coat on, but I caught a cold. Colleagues in different rooms all had the same complaint. I would recommend staying in this hotel in the summer.

The hallways had literal mould growing from the ceiling I have photographic evidence, the taps in our room had the chrome eroded off, the carpets looked awful and threadbare. More than 4 things were out of order including an elevator and vending machines. Staff gave us no information on arrival about breakfast, recommendations of restaurants, the sights of the city and we wasn't even told about the WIFI. Overall for a three star hotel we were disappointed we had just come from a 3 star hotel in Verona and they were miles better.

I'll just say this.....I prepaid for 2 nights. I left after the first night. I didn't even think about asking for a refund.....this hotel needs all the cash it can grab. I'll ask my accountant if I can't claim my lost prepaid night as alms for the poor.
Yes, THAT bad!
I should have believed all the other reviews about the dirty carpet, loud cinema noise, unfriendly welcome.

Building is awful, location is good but bologna is so tiny. Find a better hotel than this, you will thank me. Rooms are old and cold. We had a big room for our family of 4. Dirty carpet and the cherry on top: bed bugs

The staff overall were friendly and helpful. The room was fine. Everything is a little outdated, but clean and basicaslly comfortable. The shower head fixture in the bathroom was broken so one has to hold the shower head the whole time. The location is excellent and in that sense good value for money. But a major problem is noise: the hotel is right above a cinema and even on the third floor, the sound and music blasted upwards into the rooms until about midnight. The walls and ceilings are also paper thin, meaning one can hear people talking in other rooms and walking overhead or in the corridor outside, until late at night and then again early in the morning. Not for light sleepers...

So loud and noisy hotel. Also there is a cinema next building and you can hear movie and vibrations until midnight. Another thing is floors of the hallways and doors which are making disturbing rumbles.

Hotel was perfect for seeing, eating and drinking out on the city. Polite staff, clean rooms and a great location!

There is a rumbling. Maybe a subway or something? It was not ideal but I got over it and my stay as nice.

We happened to stay when temperatures were around 30, so the lack of air-conditioning was a shame. Very helpful staff on reception desk - thank you.

Terrible water pressure and temperature in shower made washing in the hand basin necessary.

This hotel has charm and a unique feel. We had a very pleasant stay here. Staff were helpful and polite, room was clean and well presented and we had Aircon and an extra fan for temperature control.
I would recommend this hotel because it's convenient, good value and it's like a piece of history in itself. Beautiful.

Really good location in the city center and helpfull and smiling staff. The building is old and the room are also simple, but the price was reflecring it. However a good experience and eecommended.

Staff were friendly. However..they are not going to be able to save you from a stay at the WORST HOTEL I have ever stayed in..
The hotel was build a furnished in the early 1900’s and likely not last refurbished since 1960’s. The carpet had more infectious diseases than an STI clinic.
The bathroom had a horrendous smell come through the pipes. A mix of poo, bacteria and hundreds of years of pipes never being cleaned. It was similar to a slaughter house smell.
The rooms had NO AIR CON, each rooms door was like an entry to a wardrobe. The floors were so rotten they creaked all night (ghosts?)..
The common areas resembled an old folks home and smelt like one too.
The location was good if only to be able to sit in the nearby McDonald’s to use their aircon and get away from the damp and smell.
I would advise staying away even if the value looks good it’s not worth it, this hotel may be less than €100 a night for a double room but I’ve had better value out of £10 a night hostels than this hotel.
PLEASE STAY AWAY FOR YOUR OWN GOOD UNTIL THEY REFURBISH

I read about the carpet being unclean and the property smelling bad but I thought it may be overblown. IT IS NOT. The carpet is pretty dirty and stained and the whole place smells odd. The room is OK, but with more carpet so overall there is a feeling of things being dirty. It is very well located, that’s why I took the chance but if you can find something else around the area and the price, definitely consider another hotel.

This is an older hotel, which shows signs of age as is mentioned in other reviews, but it is reflected in the price. This is a good value option if you just want to be perfectly placed to explore central Bologna. Breakfast is basic and there was no fridge or kettle in my room, but realistically you're going to be out eating all day in this city.

Very friendly and helpfully staff👏👏The hotel is located perfect in the middle of the old town, in a very cozy neighborhood.

Very dated hotel, no tea/coffee or water in rooms. Windows single pane and in poor condition. Room
Vibrates with outside noise. Impossible to sleep. At €140 a night expected better. Hotel would be 1-2 stars at best avoid

Ideally located and a passable breakfast but sadly that's where the good stuff stops. It's a lovely old hotel that desperately needs some TLC, well worn carpets at reception adn up the stairs didn't leave a great first impression although the staff were helpful and friendly. Our rooms were tiny and had paper thin room

Historical building. Clean rooms. Warm and friendly staff.

Nice vintage experience, but the hotel is a bit shopworn. One elevator "temporarily" out of service. Walls transmit noise from adjacent room. Doors are thin and you hear all of the foot traffic in the hallway.
But not a bad experience overall.

Very nice lobby. Almost seems like a luxury lobby. But all I care about are low price and no bugs; this hotel did not disappoint. Plus it's very close to the interesting sites in the historic center of Bologna. Only issue is the top floor rooms are an attic and can get very warm like a typical attic. For me that was a plus: I sleep best when I'm baked (as in hot, not high). They do have windows you can open to air them out for those that need a more normal temperature, so I'd not expect it to be a problem for most people.
