Good central location, and pleasant reception staff. A bit dated and disorganised with stuff lying around on the third floor. Rooms quite small. Noisy cleaners talking loudly (shouting) in the morning. I’m sure there are better places to stay in Angouleme.

Great hotel. Perfect location. Super friendly staff.

Loved the quirky style of the hotel. It is also well placed in Central Angoulême. Staff were friendly and helpful too.

LIKED
Friendly, helpful staff. Quirkiness of the decor and furniture that you only find in French hotels. Overall cleanliness. Very comfortable bed and room. Ample breakfast. Availability of tea and coffee.
DIDN’T LIKE (just minor things)
Parking very tight and therefore tricky, no milk with the tea and coffee (though got a jug on request). No slip mat in bath when using overhead shower, nor any handles. Coffee at breakfast served in an open jug so went cold by the second cup.

Overall good .Just there wasn’t AC on the room .

A great hotel in a perfect location. Right in the centre of all the action.

An overnight stop on way north. Hotel very well placed for centre of town. Good parking arrangements but limited numbers so worth booking in advance. Excellent service at front desk and for breakfast. Dog friendly and those important "green" areas close by for dogs to use. With daytime temperature reaching 32 degrees the room was too hot for a comfortable night's sleep. Would only recommend for cooler months.

We loved the original decor and artworks around the hotel. Reception was excellent and the breakfast was generous and delicious. Just make sure the pain au raisin don’t run out so quickly please.
The room was small but clean and tidied every day. Loved the orange but some of the artwork would have made it even more special.
All the staff were helpful and went the extra km. whenever we asked about something.
The location is wonderful.
We had a lovely time. And it was inexpensive!

This hotel is very convenient for shopping, sight seeing, all the restaurants and bars. I loved the interior with its paintings and furniture pieces. We had the continental breakfast which we enjoyed and there was a good variation. The only thing is that not sure if we would stay in our particular room in the height of summer as there is no air coditionning

Funny decorations.
Good breakfast and friendly staff.

Very good stay. People are friendly, the hotel is charming and the location excellent. Rooms are a bit small with the minimum comfort, but still good enough. Staff is very helpful too.

Old building, needs a lot of repair, but still has flair.
Prime location to walk the upper city. Lots of cafes and restaurants around.
Breakfast was exceptional, fresh and home made crepes and cake.

The hotel is very eclectic. I nice change from other hotels. Our room was very small and the bathroom only fit one person at a time it was so small. The room was extremely hot even with a fan and the window open. NO Airconditioning. Hard to find parking. Great location. They have other rooms that are nicer I have no idea why we were put in such a small room since we were two people not one.

A lot of effort has been put into this. Nice and cosy.

A typical old french small town hotel. Probably more so in this case it is in a tightly confined area inside the old town walls. It has a quaint charm with interesting upcycled furniture in the lobby and llunge areas. Angouleme is well worth a visit - full of character. More a long weekend in itself, but with places to visit round about. The hotel car park needs to be booked (not apparent on the Hotels.com website) and one has to reverse into it as it is so small! Breakfast is fine, a typical continental breakfast, but a little dear at 11.50 euros per person.

Its not on the hotel listing, but this hotel does NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING!!! If the weather had been average for the time of year it would have been tolerable, but a heat wave over 100F/38C and no A/C made the room unbearable. They did provide a fan but that did little to help. The staff were extremely wonderful to deal with and the hotel itself was charming and in the heart of the old part of the city...we happened to be there during an annual music festival, an unexpected surprise. Breakfast was terrific and there was a great restaurant next door (Chez Paul) as well as a yummy bakery just up the block. Word of advice, DONT try to drive here! The small streets are difficult to navigate even with GPS and parking anything other than a micro car in the garage will be a chore.

A nice building located in the historic district, the Hotel du Palais has a very old French feel, a nice very helpful staff, and a nice breakfast room. There is underground parking and easy access to other squares on the hill where the old city is. It is easy to walk out to whatever you may want and come home to the hotel in a few steps. I recommend it.

Only a short overnight stay but still got a very favourable impression. Very friendly welcoming staff and easy, painless check in. Adequate rooms, good facilities and free, but slow WiFi. Quirky colours. Very well located for touring the old city and masses of bars/resuarants/brasseries nearby.

Very friendly and accommodating staff, quiet, colourful and quirky rooms. The hotel is in a great position in the centre of the old city close to bars and restaurants... We would definitely stay again!
