Very nice, clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Louiz. He was wonderful. Grounds were beautiful with a lot of birds and flowers. Restaurant food wasn’t great but the staff was very good.

Beautiful views and grounds. Great location and very spacious. Our kids loved the loft space in the rooms and beds were comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. On site restaurant was very good and breakfast included made an easy start to our days.

It was run down compared to other places we stayed. There was no heat/air conditioning and no way to open windows. It was just average.

We arrived late and were received with the same enthusiasm as the first customer of the day. Our rooms were clean and comfortable and the property was immaculate. Our breakfast was absolutely amazing! We loved the charm of the hotel and the staff was very accommodating. Close to everything as well.

When we checked on, the person working the desk spoke to me as if he had an attitude. I did not feel welcomed. The needs were not comfortable and the pillows were flat. At night, it got really cold because there is no heat in the rooms. We tried to reserve the jacuzzi, but was later told that the heater was broken. I was going to plan a proposal while in the jacuzzi, but that fell through. thought about checking out a day earlier.

The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, breakfast buffet was good...BUT oh my god the parking near impossible to find if you come in at night. Stayed in 500’s section and took forever to find parking for the area (had to drive to sign that said Art something and then another sign that had name of different hotel and holy cow if you went wrong way and had to reverse to turn around on very narrow gravel road) ... if you don’t have a car or drive in during the day it’s alright.

Confortable room. Nice bed. Great view from the top of the mountain. Breakfast is too simple with little options. Fruit was not fresh. Nice location in Monteverde. Difficult to climb the hill for people with dissabilities.

Hotel Heliconia is conveniently located in Monteverde not far from the Cheese Factory or Santa Elena. The most surprising thing by far was the size of the rooms and the space! Our room had a glassed-in sitting area with table and chairs and a separate bedroom. The bedroom included two king-sized beds and a loft with a queen-sized (?) bed. You could easily sleep six people there with room for the kids to run around like crazy people. ;) The shower was very large and the finish of the room generally was typical Costa Rican, lots of tile and wood. Parking was easy, but the hotel was a little difficult to see at night (no lights pointing at the sign). Nice place with tons of space!

Nice hotel. Rather plain rooms but well kept. We stayed in the upper building (the one in the picture with the green roof). It is a long walk from the office but what a view!!!! You can see to the gulf of Nicoya beautiful sunrises and sunsets from the deck right out the room door.

The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. Would have been comfortable if they had WIFi access in the rooms as there were times when the weather was not favourable to walking down the hill to the main reception area. Yes, there was good shuttle service but one does not always want to depend on that.

Staff was excellent and made all of our arrangements for our daytime and nighttime adventures. The room gave us a woodsy, cabin-like feel, which was fitting considering you're about 4500ft above sea-level.

Our room had a King bed and two single beds in a spacious loft. Large soaking tub for two as well as large shower. Very clean, would definitely stay again.

The room was not ready at check in time. First room smelled like urine so they took us to another room that had not been cleaned. Then they gave us a suite, which was nice, but up a super steep hill and very far away. We had three sleepless nights because of the sound of the wind howling. We left two days early and they refused to refund any money. Breakfast was not good.

We were blown away by the size and beauty of our room. We had two king size beds and a queen bed upstairs. There was a closed in patio, where one could entertain and an open balcony with a beautiful view. The staff was very helpful and let us know of all the activities that we could do during our stay. The staff was also very responsive to our needs and requests. We could have stayed in our room for the whole stay and enjoyed ourselves.

The Hotel was on a busy corner with lots of noise and traffic. The jacuzzis were drained. The toilet leaked all over the floor when flushed (which my husband fixed). The doors of the room would not close properly so the wind and mosquitoes came in and kept us awake. It was unfortunately the worst night of our Costa Rica vacation.

We stayed at the Hotel Heliconia for two nights. It was definitely overpriced for what it was. The room was very basic, no TV, heat, or air conditioning. There was wood paneling everywhere. The most noticeable thing was the smell, which was a general dank scent. The beds were very old, the sheets and the bed cover seemed to have been ~50 years old and probably contributed to the smell. The pillows were lumpy and we found bugs in the bed. The walls were paper thin and the windows didn't fully close. There were also no screens, so bugs could freely enter your room whenever they wanted. In fact, we found a live scorpion crawling up the shower curtain while taking a shower. We immediately packed up and left, leaving the scorpion in the bathroom. It might still be there now!

This is an amazing place to stay. Every direction you look has an incredible view. The room we had was giant and very nice. Very professional and friendly staff. Convenient location near everything. There is also a restaurant with delicious food. Will stay here again in the future.

I found 3 star hotels in Costa Rica are perfect. They are very nice, clean and the staff was awesome. The room was very nice. Animals out your front door. The buffet type breakfast was delicious. My only problem was we could only stay for one night:( next time I want to spent more time in that area. The hotel had a great location. Very close to town and the park esp if you have a car. Get ready for the drive into montaverde. It's a rocky dirt road for many miles. I would try and do it in the day time ( we didn't of course) but that would be a lot easier and the views are just amazing. We drive out of the area in the daytime and it was a lot less stressful.
