We liked the place, good location and friendly staff. They were welcoming and they maintained our room clean and tidy.

After a long day trekking a good shower, clean comfortable bed and a quiet environment is all I need, but you still have a centric location to eat, sightsee and party if you want!

Pros:
* Staff was very friendly although they spoke no English.
*Location couldn’t be more perfect, right outside the main square of Antigua.
Cons:
*Walls of the room were in complete disrepair. Wallpaper is coming apart and black mold in the bathroom which is a health concern. If you even touch the wall gently it will break.
*no refrigerator in the room
*no A/C in the room although there was a fan, it’s loud, which was nice in a way to block some noise given the rooms are right outside of the dining area for the hotel restaurant.
*The shower barely functioned, just a few streams of water coming out at different strengths… it was warm though.
*The bed was very uncomfortable, you can feel every spring through the mattress.
* I also noticed another room when I left had some waters inside it, snacks, and other things ready for the next guest, my room had nothing except for some soap and shampoo.
A little TLC and upkeep would make this place a lot better.

Room pretty dark, only 1 light worked, second lamp missing the light bulb

Please beware, this place had immense humidity and BLACK MOLD in its wall. This is extremely unhealthy to people as black mold

The Posada Don Diego is a family operated little hotel and cafe directly across the street from La Merced in the heart of old Antigua. The people there are friendly and welcoming - and the coffee and breakfast in the morning are always delicious! It is a small simple place and a very pleasant experience for budget minded travelers and I recommend it for those who want a nice local experience!

Great stay, got what we needed at a reasonable price

Posada don Diego is a great small place to stay, it is close to everything in Antigua. The staff is great and always cheerful.

Nestled behind a cafe which is convenient for coffee and bread. However, the rooms are only separated from people sitting down in the cafe by a door and a small lock. If you don’t close the curtains, anybody can see in. The room was alright and did the trick. The shower in the bathroom had almost no water pressure and made showering impossible. Was a good enough short stay for the price.

Small older Posada hotel, not modern but basic with a very friendly and helpful staff.

It was amazing. The ladies that work at the hotel are just the sweetest and best hostesses. The place is great! I will definitely return!!!

Good and quiet option in Antigua, staff is supernice! Important! Hotels.com location is wrong, it is located in front of la merced temple.. i had to call them and the girl was supernice to come and pick me up where i was. Its a very basic hotel, very clean, coffee is good. I recommend

You have to let the water run for quite a while to get just barely warm water. The wash base was so small there was no place to put a glass for washing teeth. No heater and the place gets cold.

very friendly staff, nice garden, very familiar and gentle place, great food, check in it was difficult because I was not receiving the room I booked, it was impossible to give us an extra bed despite paying extra for people who were staying. I understand people just follow orders.

The pousada is near all points of interests, main square, restaurants and shopping. It is a very old building and the rooms are very musty, the maintenance has not been kept up to date so it is a bit run down. The hotel staff are very friendly.

Clean, nice, peaceful location and friendly staff. Communication my be a problem if you don't know some basic Spanish, but since Guatemala is a Spanish speaking country I certainly can not deduct any points there!

Great little spot within easy walking distance of all of Antigua's sightseeing spots. It is located right in front of La Merced, which is especially beautiful when lit up at night, plus makes it easy to find your way back either walking or if giving directions to a tuk-tuk driver. It was also very convenient to have the on-site restaurant out front–we enjoyed breakfast here the following morning (sweet crepes with banana and nutella–classic and oh so yummy!), even though it wasn't included in the room rate. Our room was beautifully and simply decorated and the high pressure, hot water in the shower was a real treat!

Room was OK, could be better though with a wooden floor.
Good value for money (we had an Expedia offer I believe).
Nice patio.
Bathroom small and toilet seat needs fixing.
Church bells from nearby church sounding 530AM and 7AM Sunday.

The hotel is cute and charming. We stayed in the biggest suit and the bathroom was extremely tiny, of you're tall it might be a bit uncomfortable. The room was clean and spacious and the staff was friendly.
The hotel has a coffee shop; we asked for a cup of coffee around 10pm and they told no after they told us that there was a person who was able to serve us all night. Overall it's a great hotel.

The hotel was simple, but it had everything you needed. A small restaurant that would serve typical food. Every procession for Easter came by the front of this hotel, so depending if you are here for that during Easter week, it can be a great thing, or something you are not into. However, if you are in Antigua for Easter, that is the main attraction. I loved this place, and would stay again.

We did a volcano hike and spent the night on the volcano. They allowed us to store our luggage in a locked room and then return to shower and change clothes at no charge! Everyone was very helpful and had a smiling face. I would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family.

A small (I think 4 rooms) posada. Its primary existence is as a cafe with rooms. Pleasant enough and well positioned for the Semana Santa ( Easter) processions around Antigua. Carlos the owner was attentive to our needs but rushed off his feet as the cafe was so busy.

A good price for the condition of the hotel, good location but pretty small. Hotel staff is not friendly and their priority is the Cafe, wich is really good but they cleaning room service is awful!! The day that we checked in the room wasnt ready and we had to wait almost an hour ( until 16:00 p.m ) to get into the room and the day that we leaved the hotel the next guest was in the hotel and our baggage was still inside the room while the staff was already cleaning it for the next guest!!...and we finished to pack our last minute shopping while the staff was cleaning the room. My husband and I couldnt even use the toilet before leave the hotel because they were cleaning it and throw away our personal items leaved in the washroom like thoothbrush and dental floss!! Also, is not a good choise if you're looking for having a good rest because the Cafe opens at 7:00 am and there are tables really close of rooms, so close that you can hear diners speak!!

Great location in the center of town. The staff helped us out greatly when we had to recover an item left in San Pedro the night before through the use of the buses running between Antigua and San Pedro. We didn't think we would be able to recover it but we were very pleasantly surprised when a lot of very helpful people (at both San Pedro and the hotel staff) made it happen.

Conviently located to the center of town. The service was fantastic from the moment we were picked up at the airport until the time we left. I will certainly book again.

Nice affordable small hotel right in the center of activities and a few blocks from the main center of town.
The owner Carlos and staff were of great help and went out of their way to help us during our stay. Owner Carlos went out of his way to get us transportation back to the airport in Guatemala at 3.00 am.
I highly recommend this small hotel, had a great and peaceful time at Posada Don Diego.
