best vfm in the city - free parking and breakfast

This is a budget hotel with budget rooms, so if you manage your expectations, it’s fine. However, avoid room 101 at all costs. It’s a ground floor single that gets all the noise from the car park and the front desk. And there’s a fair bit of noise, believe me. Use the white noise on your phone and a pair of ear plugs and you’re golden. There’s a bag breakfast on offer, and it’s an easy walk to the train station, though there’s also a bus to central Newcastle just outside the property.

Happy, friendly staff, nothing any trouble for them.
Just could do with some coat hooks in the room and some more wardrobe hangers.
Everywhere clean and smelling fresh
Quiet, peaceful night sleep

Excellent for the price. Easy walking distance to the arena and train station. Staff were very friendly and polite. The only downsides were the lighting at the mirror was poor, I had to do my make up in the bathroom. And no plug sockets near the bed for phone charging. I'd definitely stay again.

The room is spacious and clean.

Great place to stay located about 15 minutes from the train station (about half an hour from The Gate and the bus station) the hotel is just off a main road behind Newcastle College. Wasily accessible on foot, the hotel offers a good nights stay away from the noise in the centre of town. The service was excellent, the room comfortable and the breakfast 'grab and go bag' was a nice touch. The hotel took a bit of finding, even with a satnav and an awareness of the City but it is effectively one long road from the train station to the hotel and it is worth seeking out for a great value stay. Customer service was excellent.

The location and parking was a great feature. The staff were lovely and it was such a treat to have a packed lunch included for the road. My only real issue is the cleanliness, there were multiple black long hairs on/in the bed, dust on side tables, the remote was covered in dirt. Additionally the bed was so uncofortable, the mattress was bumpy and the bedding felt like plastic. Overall it was great for a quick overnight stay, and again the staff were friendly, kind natured and the breakfast was a great bonus, but the rooms do need a lot of improvement.

Standard stay.
Easy check in.
Room readily available.
As hadn't stayed at hotel before, took some time to work out how the lights worked etc.
Bathroom basic.
No where to put stuff ie table unless sat behind door to bathroom
Shower overflowed slightly so always stood in pool of water when shower running.
Hot water way too hot.

Looking at some of the reviews for this hotel I was in two minds, but in the end was glad that I booked. I was arriving in Newcastle on a late train so the 24 hour reception was a must, but it was appreciated that they called to check I was still coming around 10pm. The room was absolutely fine & the take-away breakfast a nice bonus.

After been contacted by the hotel I booked to say at they said there had been an over booking and I was been moved to another hotel ( easy hotel ) I thought it would have been a like for like booking.
It wasn’t.
No breakfast ,
No tea / coffee facilities
No parking,
No smart / open network Tv
The room was very basic and I wouldn’t stay there again.
Not impressed

All staff kind and helpful, everything very clean. The building is very worn in places. The door to the bathroom was damaged, tile old and outdated. Plumbing a bit tricky. But overall, great value for money.

Clean large room on top floor. Some noises from other rooms but not unbearable. Will recommend to friends and family. Cheers.

We booked here because it was good value, and we originally planned to come by car so the free parking on site seemed to be a bonus. The room was a decent size and in reasonable condition, however a few shabby bits that needed attention or extra cleaning would have helped the overall improvement of our stay. For the museums and Newcastle college it was a five minute walk, into the centre of town a 10 to 15 minute walk, or the number 1 bus. We were out quite a lot, but the noise from people talking and the constant banging of doors, early morning and well after midnight was very annoying.
Breakfast was a paper bag that you had to collect from reception. It contained a carton of fruit juice, a yoghurt a packaged croissant and a piece of fruit. Ok to keep you going, along with the tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
An ok stop over for business or an evening, for a longer time I'd probably not stay again.

Room spacious carpet near bed a little worn looks like a hole starting to appear, bathroom seen better days . Would be nice if bedroom doors had a slow close as woken up early hours by someone letting their door slam shuddering the whole room.

Myself and a friend stayed at this hotel for three nights when visiting Newcastle. We found the hotel to be pleasant and comfortable and appreciated the light breakfast snacks. We felt very safe staying in this hotel.

Carry out breakfast was a novelty but we enjoyed it. Only 15mins walk into town. Friendly help staff. A few loose bits in bathroom but nothing major to spoil our stay

Checked in 31/07/24 and due to a mobility issue I asked for a ground floor room. I hadn’t asked prior at booking as I can manage a flight of stairs. I wish I had asked for her name because the lady on reception was soooo helpful! She actually said she would check for a ground floor room before I even mentioned anything, probably from seeing how I was.
They were quite booked up as they are a good value hotel. The room we had paid for wasn’t available on ground floor. We had a first floor room for the first night which was quite a bit of a trek along the first floor which was fine as I hadn’t requested ground prior to booking. The next day I had booked a superior room as none had been available the night before and again when I had re-checked in the helpful receptionist had anticipated our room change and ensured me a first floor room.
Nothing was too much trouble for her to deal with and I often feel awkward asking for a more accessible room as I don’t fully need accessible and wouldn’t take one when there could be somebody needing one a lot more than me. She seemed to just listen to my needs and did her best to accommodate. She is a credit to the hotel team. Thank you.

Good value for money. Quiet and easily walkable to city center

Stayed here while using a reward to break a long journey. Good location near university and not too far from station & Tyne Bridge. Check in was good - The staff at reception were polite even though I checked in quite late (buzzer entry after hours but reception is manned 24 hours). Free self parking on site (need to register the car reg at the reception). En suite rooms with modern amenities as expected i.e. towels, toiletries, mirror, tv, kettle tea coffee sugar milk in room, chair plus sofa and side table in room. Free continental packed breakfast (croissant, juice, yogurt, fruit). What needs improvement is (1) there is no water dispenser in the lobby/reception (2) no lift for those with mobility issues (3) aircon or fan etc

Issue with the room was fixed quickly.
Vegan option for breakfast was "leave everything else and just eat the fruit".

The receptionist was friendly when I booked in.
Was booked in room 115, so I made my way up the stairs to the room and opened the door.
The smell hits you as soon as it opens. Musty damp smell.
The bathroom was clearly not the same picture as there was a bath, and as I can't get in and out of a bath, I wouldn't have booked it!
I asked for another room and was refused, the receptionist telling me she was "only covering". Funny that.
The window is half covered in ivy outside and nets that have never seen a washing machine, inside. It also only opened an inch.
Never before either have I seen beds that slope downwards at the head end!
Was allowed to bring a takeaway in.
I was pretty pleased with the breakfast bag too as it meant I could eat a bit in the room and save the rest for my train journey home.
Croissant, Alpen bar, apple, peach yoghurt and orange juice.
Plug sockets are on the opposite side of the room near the window, though there is one tucked away in the cupboard meant for the kettle/hairdryer/fan. But didn't quite reach the bed and I have a long wire.
This app won't let me upload pictures for some reason.

I liked that we could just chill out and not be disturbed. The playground was a bit noisy but I liked that the property was cheap and cheerful. The bath taps didn't work, but we were not interested in bathing only in showering. The bathroom was clean and bright too. The staff also were nice.
