Perfect location, clean, comfortable and spacious room.

Was a bit apprehensive about this as not much info online but really liked it. Very close to everything, lovely receptionist, lots of useful info given, and peaceful at night. Futons were super comfy (my first time).

Incredible attention, perfect location and the rooms are traditional

Everything is perfect

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful island! The rooms and amenities were very clean and comfortable, and the staff were kind and accommodating, even working to meet me in the middle with my broken Japanese. Would definitely visit again!
5.0
Convenient and very close to ferry and shrine

Ocean views were gorgeous, I loved eating by the window for sunset and in the quiet morning. Staff was helpful, location close to everything. Room is not very soundproof and you may hear other rooms, so light sleepers may be bothered. AC very comfortable.

Location was amazing short distance from ferry and from all the sites. The actually room was traditional and spacious. It was just wow. Definitely coming back

Sakaraya was incredibly convenient, within a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal. Staff were very accommodating, helpful and kind. The room was large and the futon mattresses were comfortable. Breakfast was excellent! Everything you need for a short break away from Hiroshima, in a beautiful, historic area.

A beautiful property with truly lovely staff. It was super clean and the room was a generous size. Do yourself a favour and book an ocean view room. Spending a night on Miyajima is a wonderful way to take in the island. I highly recommennd Sakuraya!

We liked the Japanese style room and sea view. The only shortcoming was the lack of shelving or closet to unpack our suitcases.

A cute, clean experience in a typical Japanese Ryokan! The onson was lovely even though its in the basement with no view. Oddly, there were very few restaurants on the island open for dinner. We did find an excellent local one. The beat part was the view of the harbour and hike and tram up the mountain!!!

We had the ocean view, beautiful settings, large room, comfortable bed/pillow. only thing is bathroom is extremely small, public bath is very nice. Staff are very helpful and we really enjoyed their hospitality. They'll serve breakfast for 500 yen, worth the price. Definitely recommend.

Great location, friendly staff, cute room and lovely onsen

Affordable. Walking distance to itsukushima shrine. Clean rooms. Futon to sleep on tatami mats like traditional Japanese home. Yukata for public bath

We loved everything about this property.

The staff were wonderful and the hotel was clean and very convenient. The public bath was great. My mother said, if the room we stayed in had a kitchen she could live there.

We loved this little hotel on Miyajima Island! It was so cozy and had everything we needed. Even the tiny shower had amazing water pressure and was so cozy and nice. Definitely stay here if you're a traveler on a budget visiting Miyajima Island!

The facilities are clean and staff are very courteous and proressional.
It is in a business district so there are many dining options around.
My only issue with the property is it can be a bit of a trek to nearby stations, but it is also a good walk to Minami district.
Overall I am happy with the service, and would recommend.

Perfect location, close to the pier and all the shops. Friendly staff, spacious and clean tatami room. We had the sea-view which was perfect for relaxing after a long day.

Highly recommended definitively would go back

We had a magnificent view from our room. The rooms were spacious and able to sit and enjoy the view. Very close to the ferry, easy to walk to and from the ferry with our luggage. Also all the major tourist sites are walkable and close to many restaurants. We were early for check in but the staff allowed us to leave the luggage in the hotel, while we explored the island.

The staff is the nicest one I ever meet, ready to answer your demands and give you great advices. It’s really great. Rooms are great and calm too. Also, huge plus, they accept tattoos in the public bath! Best bath ever 👌

A pleasant stay that was affordable as well. There was an onsen as well to enjoy after a day of travelling.

Stayed here for one night. We had the best view of the bay. Its a smaller hotel but the people working here are very kind and helpful. Room was clean and spacious. We had a bathroom in the room. It was very tiny. But grateful we didn't have to share one like in other traditional ryokans. You can order a light breakfast for 500yen when you check in. There's also a bath downstairs. Would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable in a convenient location.

Front staff was super kind & accommodating. Gave us family dinner recommendations and Niwa Cafe did not disappoint. Would have been nice if even a small continental breakfast was offered as nothing opens on the island before 9 am-not even Starbucks. Highly recommend you bring breakfast w/you!
Large room fit the 5 of us & extra bathrooms at hotel helped.

Love, love, love our stay. Only wished stores and restaurants open later. Everything closed too early before 6pm. The hotel is facing the water for sunset and sunrise enjoyment !

Excellent small traditional hotel. Great location.

Wonderful hotel by the ocean. Right next to the sea. There’s grilled oysters being sold in front. The room was clean. Futon was comfortable. Breakfast can be bought and paid for in advance. The staff was very friendly and willing to hold luggage for us before check in and after check out.

Great place to experience a traditional stay in Japan. Walking distance from the terminal. Downside a lot of business and restaurants shut extremely early. Limited dinner options on the Island, with everything closing around 7:30 to 8pm.

It is better that the pictures. Great location, great service, super clean. Lovely sea view.
The place is a bit outdated but give you the chance to experience transitional ryokan style accommodation.
Lobby could do with an update but the friendliness of the staff and location plus the Japanese room makes you super happy

Great location, helpful staff. Nothing wrong at all with this place…unless you’re like me, an old goat who is more comfortably accommodated with Western style bedding. Just a friendly observation that may be useful to any other uninitiated Seniors considering tatami bedding.

Was a wonderful stay , people very nice .

Everything was fabulous! Sweet room. Spotlessly clean. Quiet. Great location. If I'm going to be picky...the breakfast needs something extra, maybe some rice, and the bathroom was very small. But overall wonderful.

I like the Japanese style room. And its location is good for sightseeing. The only annoyance is that I stayed on 5th floor, where there is no lift. I had to carry my big suitcase to walk by staircase.
2.5
I have been to Miyajima countless numbers of times but this time I spent the night to enjoy the nighttime illumination. Sakuraya is in a great location and the pricing is very reasonable considering that.

Traditional Japanese rooms with tatami mats. Cute but may not be well suited for everyone.
