White Marble floors and shower assured us of cleanliness. Sheets were new and bright white. We arrived very early in order to avoid L.A. traffic and the hotel owner (so nice) had his staff clean our room first because the prior occupants had checked out early. This is an old hotel which has been upgraded. Our room was large and had a new comfy chair but since there was a Keurig coffee maker with lots of pods and CoffeeMate creamers and a microwave, a small café table and chairs would have been welcome. Since we were only there for one night, we chose the most economical room. I believe that all the other rooms had patios with a table and chairs. Note: It is just a short walk to a gorgeous beach and 5 minutes drive to a Pavilion Grocery Store and a French patisserie. Also, close by car to some restaurants and a Starbucks.

Great location and service. Only issue was a « planned » power outage that lasted a couple of hours. The hotel management claims the utility company never told them. Aside from that, no complaints.

Was a wonderful little room with a nice view!! Will definitely stay there again!!

The grounds are unkempt. There was a dead rat in a trap outside our door, and it smelled terrible. The room was clean and the bed was comfy, and there were plenty of towels and soap. The shower was terrible: a rain shower thing that was weak and there was no option for a handheld or tub spout.
3.8
The balcony had a jacuzzi that couldn’t be used. A lot of spider webs on the balcony and a spider I killed inside. The staff were extremely helpful and I appreciated all of them!

We’ve actually stayed at this hotel a few times just to get away for the evening and have some cool ocean breezes instead of valley air.
The first time we stayed, it was simply an average experience, but we didn’t expect more than that.
This time we stayed in one of their large king suites with ocean view. Room was a disaster. The air conditioner leaks all over the floor. The furniture looks like it fell off a truck and then was placed with no repair or no consideration for appearances, the headboard looks like a crime scene, the windows have cracked film layers on them that either need to be removed or replaced. Forget the lovely ocean view.
When we were mopping up the water leaking from the air conditioner, we noticed that the floors were filthy.
There is no reason for this. This little hotel is in a beautiful location with cute little rose gardens, and a very nice view of the Pacific, but something is very haywire.
The little patch of grass in the garden hasn’t been mowed for weeks and it would take less than $1500 to go to Ashley furniture and get a headboard and some end tables that don’t look like they’ve been tagged for evidence first.
There is also an abandoned restaurant on the property that is beginning to look haunted. Fix it or tear it down. What a wasted opportunity. The whole place is a wasted opportunity. If it’s for sale, give someone the chance to realize its potential. We will never go back as it is.

The hotel needs major updates. Furniture and headboard is old and stained. Tv volume didn’t work. So much potential here. We would not stay here again. The only positive is the location, which is close to the beach.

A nice inn within walking distance to Zuma beach. The staff was also very friendly and helpful with recommendations.
3.8
Place is nice, clean, staff is really friendly and really close to the beach.

It was so comfortable and clean! Spacious too, the bathroom is so beautiful and the balcony was such a nice touch too. The bed was very comfortable as well. The pool was awesome as well. Such a nice secluded area, I would definitely stay at this place again!

Lovely room for one night.

Overall property needs updating

The property is beautiful. It met the needs of myself and my teen daughter as it was extremely close to the beach and we could leave our vehicle and just walk to a beach that clearly was very popular.
We didn’t use the pool, but it looked clean and pretty. Our room was cute! Our back deck was a plus and we could watch the sun set over the water!
3.8
Need better locks on room doors.
3.8
Loved how we were able to walk to the beach to eat, surf, and run! Also loved the Jasmine by our door. Super quiet room too!
3.8
The best feature about the hotel is its location. It definitely needs some renovation! The bed was very uncomfortable and the AC unit is very noisy. The toilet paper holder was broken. Tons of potential that needs to be brought to reality.
3.8
This is the worst hoteI I have ever stayed in the US.
3.8
First room was musty, rickety stairs to get to the level it is on, 2nd room shower was inconvenient and difficult to use, coffee pot did not work, staff not available in morning,
3.8
The room was very nice, great view, comfortable bed, updated bathroom. The building is older and needs some TLC. the check in was easy and the front desk was polite and helpful.

This property is great value

We had a newly remodeled room with a view of the ocean. Staff were very friendly and the room was cozy.

Amazing weekend ! Staff are wonderful!

The reception was nice and the garden/ flowers were beautiful.
We were struggling to open our door to our room as it had swelled and was stuck. I couldn’t actually open it so the gardener had to help me whilst my husband was parking the car.
The advertising said this hotel has been newly refurbished, but our room definitely hadn’t been painted or freshened up for quite some time. Even our balcony was in great need of a lick of paint and new furniture or at least cleaned.
Unfortunately we didn’t read the part of that the hotel restaurant was undergoing refurbishing, so we were quite disappointed not to have breakfast included in the booking. Our own fault of course, but we found a really nice restaurant down the road instead.
The pool didn’t look very clean, so we didn’t fancy a swim.
The location and views were beautiful.
Could be a great hotel if you are lucky enough to be put into a newly refurbished room and when the restaurant and pool are in order.
The staff was friendly

Clean and reasonable

Front desk staff was super helpful. Gave me recommendations about restaurants, beaches, walks, etc. Room was quiet - had a great night's sleep. Great location - easy walk to beach. Parking is a bit tight if you want to park next to your room -- a bit hard not to rub up against the bushes. However, everything else was really nice - cute little rooms.

Great staff, casual, like staying at an inn. Easy parking, no elevator, stairs only for upstairs. Needs some upgrades but everything was clean and worked.
3.8
Nice place but constricted
Parking and window shutters were damaged
3.8
It was a pretty place but they had black mold in the bathroom.
3.8
Easy check-in.
3.8
It's a little bit on the cramped side The room was clean kind of done in retro there's no phone in the room parking was cramped hard to get in and out of the space I will say the staff was extremely friendly and helpful so I'll give that much it has a heated swimming pool but there's no jacuzzi I'd say or stay all in all could have been better but it was pleasant

The location was perfection, very cute boutique like hotel with modern amenities. Lots of space for plugging in & loved the bathroom mirror lighting. Very enjoyable having your own private little decking off the room with plenty of room for yoga & a light work out! Lots of closet space! Right across the street from Zuma beach, Spruzzo's food was fabulous Italian with outside seating w/views of the ocean, beach & palm trees!
3.8
The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable, but the building and windows need a lot of work. Blinds do not work nor do the operable wi does. Had to use a boot to keep a window open.
Gas fire place was missing the glass and no carbon monoxide sensors.
3.8
Tv was broken and shower was dripping the whole night. Room was not that clean
3.8
I arrived late and they reached out to confirm I was coming and stayed late to meet me. For the price I wasn't expecting much, but it had a cute patio and upgraded bathroom. Pleasantly surprised!
3.8
This place has great potential but was very tired and in need of refurbishment. The rooms and the grounds all needed uplifting.
3.8
Simply a perfect location. Very friendly staff.

We had a good time. Stayed two nights. The staff was really friendly. Felt really safe. It’s so close to the beach you can walk and it’s 5 mins away from the Escondido waterfall trail. It does look a bit run down but for the price and location, this place is a gem. I’d stay here again. Felt like home away from home.
