Unfortunately the only stars I can give are for proximity to the beach. I did not have a pleasant stay at all. I booked for 5 nights but left after the 1st night. There was no air conditioning, and it was absolutely miserable heat and humidity. The ceiling fan had also stopped working. I was struggling. Went to the front office 3 times but nobody was there. It seemed their staff was busy attending to a wedding reception on property. No toiletries (shampoo, soap etc) either which I had to buy from a nearby grocery store. Bar and/or restaurant was also closed. I was on the verge of collapse after the fan stopped working and hence, abandoned my stay at this place. Too bad I couldn’t enjoy what others have said about this guesthouse.

Rose was a very nice and accommodating hostess!!

Very clean, quiet and picturesque. Beautiful beach walking distance from the guesthouse. All staff are friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Rose is a wonderful hostess, and her staff are friendly and helpful also. The proximity to the quiet and private beach with the reef so close, and the kayaks available made for a totally relaxing time, a totally safe environment. The gardens surrounding the establishment were well loved and attended, and so colourful! It was wonderful to share plant knowledge and care with all staff. Upon arrival Rose made a trip with and for me for groceries, such a terrific service! I would definitely stay here again… thanks so much.
Grocery supplies were within a few minutes walk, so life was easy…such a holiday!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at CoCo Rose! Rose and her staff were welcoming and helpful. The unit, kitchenette and washroom were spotless. Lots of hot water to clean up after sea bathing either in the property beach or at nearby beaches such as Turner's Beach or Darkwood Beach - easily accessible by local minbus for $3EC. The unit balcony was wonderful to relax on by day with a superb view of the sea and the beautiful property landscaping! Local food is delicious - a must try. And the Antiguans we met were knowledgable and courteous. Thank you Rose!

It was a nice stay

Beautiful location right by the beach, just a quick bus or cab ride away from swim beaches and restaurants. Rose is incredible, so accommodating, gave great suggestions for locations and cab services.

The place was cute, quiet, and off the grid from more highly tourist populated areas. All while being down the road from multiple bars, restaurants, and beautiful, quiet beaches. One of my favorite beaches on the island was right up the road.
A couple comments for feedback and improvement: the deadbolt lock was not working, though the doorknob lock did work. We did also see some baby ants on the floor and some cob webs with ? couple spiders. These did no5 diminish from the stay or cause big concerns. Clean this up/fix the lock, and this would basically be a perfect stay!

CoCo Rose Guesthouse is absolutely perfect :-)
The location is so beautiful and peaceful, with a lovely beach a stones throw away. The room was spotlessly clean and really well equipped. There are lots of bars and restaurants within easy reach. Highly recommended!

Very friendly staff, accommodating, and the room was clean. Is basic, I slept there and went sightseeing in Antigua all day. If they are not full ask for an oceanfront room if possible. Some of the neighbours dogs were barking at night. Common for the islands, if noise bothers you bring earplugs. Many places experience this. An Antiguan friend says the barking puts her to sleep at night.

Excellent all-round. Rose and her family were accomodating and most of all, friendly. Beautiful location away from tourist hotspots, but within a short drive of all the restaurants and bars. You will need a car as they are too far to walk, especially in the Antiguan heat. Lots of local street side food stalls to eat at, which are both delicious, and a fraction of the price of a restaurant. Room has great amenities, including coffee maker and hob. Supermarket at Jolly Harbour is large enough for you to get everything you will need. WiFi can be a little intermittent depending on the weather. The view from the room I had was lovely, and the beach by CoCo Rose was secluded and picturesque. The reef makes swimming more difficult, but great for snorkeling. If you want to have a proper swim then Morris Bay is only a mile or so away. All in all, a wonderful guesthouse, I heartily recommend this place.

Coco Rose Guesthouse is a simple but charming place to stay if you are looking for a good value package.
The rooms are clean, have a sea view, and have a hob, kettle and basic cooking equipment.

Coco Rose Guesthouse is a unique villa located on the south side of Antigua. A good hour away from the city, Coco Rose is a great place to stay if you want to experience local village life and adapt to a slower pace. The guesthouse is located right next to a small beach that is perfect for an intimate stroll. The location is secluded and amenities could be improved, but the owner is a delight who will do her best to guarantee you have a proper local experience in her town. I loved my stay. It wouldn’t be for everyone but most recommended for the traveller sort.

It is hard to give an accurate review as in the end we left for another hotel and did not stay the night here, solely because we needed something more convenient to our activities.
The proprietor Rose was lovely and very welcoming. The room was ok, it was as advertised. It did not have AC so it was a little warm and we would have liked some basic toiletries like soap.
The way things worked out, many of our activities ended up in English Harbour and it just wasn't worth doing the drive back and forth, especially at night with the poor road conditions. However, if you are coming for close proximity for some of the western or southern beaches and do not mind driving for everything, then this is a good choice for a basic, clean, and friendly accommodation.

Rose was very kind and attentive. She provided complementary car service. Recommend for any age group looking for beautiful views. Bus stop on the corner to beaches. Lovely location to relax or party

Spacious room with little kitchenette and balcony. Ideal for the independent traveller as the buses stop at the end of the road and there are a few little shops in walking distance. Best of all Rose and her family are friendly helpful hosts who will make sure your stay goes well. Excellent value for beachside room.

Location - the hotel is located next to the sea in Cades bay. Disappointingly there is no beach. You need to walk over dead coral, sea grass and sea urchins to get to somewhere you can swim Bring reef shoes with you if you want to swim, as you may not be able to get your size on the island. The hotel is surrounded by pretty, well kept gardens.
The hotel is on the local bus route Number 22 from St John’s which passes Jolly Harbour, Darkwood beach and Turners beach. These beaches are about 10 minutes away on the bus, which is inexpensive.
We were put in a street view room overlooking houses even though the hotel was empty. There is a communal seating area facing the sea so we sat there rather than sitting facing the road.
The room was clean, spacious and had a ceiling fan (no air conditioning). The cooking facilities consisted of a fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and a single electric ring. Unless you have a car the self catering is essential as there is only one restaurant in Urlings (Chappy’s) which is reasonably priced and a takeaway serving pizza and local food at around EC$15. There are 3 local shops within 15-20 minutes walk and a lady who sells fruit next to the school.
There was plenty of hot water, good wi fi, international TV channels, and some nice touches like fresh flowers on the table. The staff were friendly.
Tip :- bring soap as none was provided (washing up liquid was provided).
Note:- The road down to the hotel is un-paved

If you're travelling on budget or just don't care for the all-inclusive monstrosities that try to monopolize the coast, then try this place.
1. The reef is 200 yards from your balcony and the snorkelling is brilliant. When we were there the beach was virtually private.
2. Your hostess, Rose (herself) is a jewel. If she can, get her to meet you at the airport. She'll take you to the supermarket and then you're set up.
3. She'll recommend the best car hire, food places, beaches. Nothing is too much trouble.
The room is basic. No aircon. But it's adequate for basic cooking. The balconies (on one side) have sea views. If there's a problem Rose will fix it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks Rose. Hope we see you again.

Clean, spacious, well kept property in great location!
On site resident owners and caring staff. Ocean view balcony with sunning beach directly across from property. Quiet local setting with nearby access to several swimming beaches, restaurants, and grocery options with services ranging from local to exclusive resort. Hard to beat this Guesthouse that accommodates all the basics in an appealing value package on the desirable western side of the island. We did feel we were able to conceive of life on Antigua while staying here.
GPS almost essential for finding way on island, in general, as both roads and businesses often lack signage or located in out of the way locations.

Spotlessly clean accomodation. Lovely private location, very quiet and relaxing.
Staff lovely.
Only work on point (and something to note if you have to work on the island) is that the Internet is very intermittent and mainly unworkable.
Location close to 5 great beaches, some of which very quiet and some good restaurants.
You will need a car or taxi though the everywhere, nothing in walking distance but this is standard for most of Antigua.

Great location between English Harbour and Jolly Beach. Rose and her staff couldn't do enough to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
Rooms are a good size and have everything you need.

The room I had in this guest house was ideal, spacious, decent bathroom, basic facilities for self catering, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator etc.. the guest house was in good location, quite but on a bus route to beaches and St Johns. Best of all was Rose (proprietor) her family and staff, such incredibly friendly and welcoming people. Rose treats her guests as valued friends with cheerful conversion and good will. I hope to return to the CoCo Rose guest house soon.

A good guesthouse within a short drive to the best beaches in Antigua. The hotel's own beach is nothing special, and is not suitable for swimming because of the reef.
Rooms are spacious, and have everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Best enjoyed with your own vehicle.

Lovely, peaceful retreat in Cades Bay area.

It's a beautiful place just on the ocean. Just cannot swim there. Breaches are 5-10 minutes away. Quite a few restaurants on old road which turns into valley road going east in to St. John (city). A little pricey. Rent a car to explore the island. Beautiful beaches all over. Driving is right handed.

A warm welcome, nicely furnished rooms, and a walk-in reef for snorkeling are this places big attractions. You pretty much need a car to get around the area, and there was construction noise at 6:15am from across the street (hopefully a short-time thing).

Rose and her husband made our first visit to Antigua unforgettable. Both of them are hardworking people with the big hearts. The place was peaceful and quiet. The beach wasnt nice but the snorkeling was awesome. Overall, we can recommend CoCo Rose hotel for anyone who is looking for quiet place with very good hospitality.

Rose and her family made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. Taking us to the local supermarket so we could stock up on supplies for our 4 night stay and also dropping us off/picking us up at OJs diner one evening. We were in room 1 which was fantastic, great views and spacious. The guest house is opposite an amazing reef and we would recommend taking reef shoes so you can get out to snorkel and see the stunning fish. We saw such colourful fish, a star fish and even an octopus!! We hired a car for two days and Rose sorted the booking for us. Exploring the island and meeting the locals is a must. Shirley Heights on a Sunday evening is great with a steal band and lovely food. Nothing is too much trouble for Rose, she really does go above and beyond for you.

We found Coco Rose after being let down by another hotel in English Harbour. If you're avoiding the all inclusive pricey resorts I think this is a pretty good bet. Rooms are basis but everything you need. Really clean, lovely view of the beach although not a great one for swimming. There are some good restaurants nearby but not really within walking distance. We were pleased we had a car which enabled us to explore the whole island. Rose is a lovely host.

We recently stayed at Coco Rose for 5 nights - I can't say enough good things about our experience. From the hospitality of Rose and her family to the beautiful beaches and the unique countryside of the south of Antigua - we loved it all! Would 1000% recommend Antigua and staying with Rose to any of my friends and family looking for trip ideas. Aready can't wait to go back!!
Thank you Rose and the whole Coco Rose Guesthouse family!! - Paige & Tyler
