The place is magical. No A/C but it wasn’t too hot. The restaurant is decent and the views of the volcano are to die for. It’s a bud watcher’s paradise and the trails are beautiful. I would stay at this resort again.

Exceptional service and comfort.
Amazing birding throught the property.

Amazing view to Arenal Volcano, literally you have the volcano in front of you. Perfect choice to go relax maybe on a weekend and forget about stress and just connect with nature
5.0
The property has an excellent location surrounded by trails and and trails at the base of the volcano. The free guided hike was informative and a good way to learn to spot wildlife if not doing guide tours elsewhere (although be aware that advance reservations are recommended). The only downside of the location is that you are limited to onsite dining even if self-driving, and the food options are not great value for the price.

Tremendous vistas, birding, nature trails fantastic staff and a very cool welcome.

Our stay was very pleasant, the hotel is on beautiful grounds, we arrived late at night , a portion the road leading to the hotel is not paved, breakfast was superb, you can have both the open buffet and a choice to order from their menu. We ended up having dinner 2 nights at the hotel and those were excellent as well. Very helpful staff that go above and beyond, Sergio was very helpful with his recommendations and directions. Lots of hummingbirds and wildlife that you can experience from your room. No AC but the ceiling fan was sufficient to keep up feeling comfortable. Would love to go again.

Great experience but room key constantly gave me problem. Room key has to be replaced 4 times.
Restaurant food and drinks are great!

Amazing location inside the NP. Road most unpaved getting there. Great balcony where you can see the birds and monkey. Very chilled out vibe with plenty of easy trials around. Shame that the pool wasn’t open and we were not notified, the kids were very disappointed. Also we left very early on the last day and missed out on breakfast as they didn’t tell us we could have a takeaway breakfast box. Overall a stunning place, beaming with wildlife.

My 7 yr old complained about no AC in the room but I am completely fine with it. It is high up in the mountain so felt a little cool even in the summer. View is beautiful because it is super close to the volcano.
The lodge staff is very welcome and kind.
Of course you’d be expecting bugs and flies in the washroom next day in the morning. But I call this nature, we would also be seeing monkeys within the hotel range. Driving up to the hotel is also fun as some roads are un-paved. My husband joked as we got a free ATV experience.

One of my favorite places in the world. We have been here three times in the last 14 years. Love the lodge, its proximity to raw nature, the thoughtful and kind people that work here, and the views. I would highly recommend staying here.

Truly amazing lodge with many different activities, great atmosphere and facilities, good food and super friendly and welcoming staff. On our five weeks round trip (we stayed at 15 different hotels) this was probably our favorite place.

Wonderful hotel with great views of the volcano. Could use some upgrades for the bed. Great service from the staff

You can not beat the location and beauty of this property. The staff went above and beyond. The restaurant was great. Wildlife all around. Loved this stay.

Fantastic lodge and trails.
Amazing staff.
Great views of the Arenal Volcano.
Peaceful.
We saw snakes, frogs, toucans, hummingbirds and tropical birds.
Food is good and fairly priced - considering the nearest outside restaurant is > 30 mins away.

This property is amazing! The views of the volcano and lake are stunning. The trails and waterfalls are awesome. The ride to get there is tough though. The road is gravel and curvy. I would highly recommend a 4WD.

Great location, excellent service. It was just perfect. We liked everything about this hotel.

We absolutely LOVED our stay at the Lodge! Not only was the view amazing from every angle including our balcony, but also the service was OUTSTANDING! Everyone was so kind. And the restaurant food was to die for!! Best filet mignon I've ever had - not kidding!
Mr. Howard at the restaurant was also wonderful, as well as the waiters, including Enrique. What a lovely experience. We'll definitely be staying there when we visit CR again without a doubt!!

We had a terrific visit. The staff was very friendly and helpful. No Spanish needed. Almost every sign is in English, staff speaks English. Fantastic location to the volcano, and monkeys and birds are easily seen from the property. Highly recommend!

The view was beautiful and there are very fun activities to do inside the property.
The upside down is that the rooms don’t have refrigerator and air conditioning, fortunately we stayed only one night and it wasn’t too hot that night. Also the shower drain was clogged.
The service at the lobby was just ok. They can do better.
The food at the restaurant was good and the service at the restaurant also very good.

Without a doubt the most incredible property I’ve ever visited. Our mountain(volcano!) view was jaw dropping, truly something I’ll never forget. The infinity pool and hot tub area enjoyed the same view! The restaurant is 5-star, truly a pleasure. The grounds are gorgeous and felt very safe; and don’t even get me started on the monkeys we watched from our balcony as they swung through the lush trees. Honestly I can’t recommend the resort highly enough. The only part that wasn’t amazing was the lack of A/C. We had a quite powerful ceiling fan over the beds that made sleep possible, but the bathroom areas could feel a bit moist. But then again I was visiting a rainforest in June, which is early in the rainy season, so I should have expected this. My fault, not theirs. Despite this, I cannot recommend this resort highly enough! I hope to stay there again in the future.

Our stay at Arenal Observatory Lodge was incredible! The staff was so friendly, attentive, and helpful. Our room was perfect for a friend trip - it was large and comfortable, with plenty of space to put our things. The private patio was incredible - we woke up to birdsong, howler monkeys, and hummingbirds flitting around every morning. I was a little concerned about the lack of air conditioning, but the ceiling fan made staying cool at night a breeze. It was wonderful to be able to walk out of our room and immediately hit the trails, head to the main reception area to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and watch the birds and monkeys, or go swim in the pool. Of all the places we stayed during our 10 day trip, this was our favorite by far!

Great for bird watching.

It was one of the most beautiful places I stayed at in Costa Rica! Mine was a patio room looking right at the mountain with lush gardens right in front of the patio. If I ever decide to visit Costa Rica again, Arenal Observatory Lodge will be my first choice to stay in that area! I highly recommend this Lodge to anyone planning to visit Arenal Volcano at Costa Rica.

Absolutely stunning property nestled in the National park. Views and hikes superb. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. The waiters at restaurant were fantastic! Can't imagine a better resort!

You're surrounded by stunning views and beautiful animals. The trails on the grounds provide a variety of difficulty and experiences. The rooms are huge, though lack of AC and bugs getting through screens can be a minor issue. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Bring a good camera and binoculars because you'll be enjoying the views a great deal. Also, the pool and jet tub were relaxing and enjoyable. The spa was wonderful and affordable.

My wife and I stayed 4 nights at AOLT and it was delightful! The hotel is right next to the volcano and the sights were mesmerizing. Also the nightly sunsets from the elevated deck overlooking Arenal lake were amazing. And all the birds and even monkeys were a great treat to see. And the trails were much fun and we did them all, with one on horseback. Lastly, the staff and the dining was 5 star, every meal was delicious. We hope to come back I. The future and bring family/friends! Pure vida!

Excellent stay. As beautiful as nature gets! Everything was perfect and better than expected. Only con would be that there is no Air conditioning anywhere in the resort.
