Basic budget hotel / B&B
Slow service checking in whilst someone fixed a stapler (really?!)
Room was very cold but there was an electric heater which I had to leave on all night, no heating in the bathroom.
Quite tired looking - peeling vinyl on headboard, tears in curtains, mould on bath silicone etc.

Lady on reception was very welcoming. Check in was smooth. However, was called back as their system wasn’t working. My room was down graded from a queen size bed to a standard double bed. No manager on site to help. Room is so out dated, carpets are stained and dirty, mould in bathroom, bed was very uncomfortable. No fan in room. A lot of Mosquitos in the room and bathroom. Photos on website are from over 10 years ago. They do not have a gym as per their website. Definitely try to avoid staying here.
The only good thing is they have a big car park.

I've stayed here before and don't remember having a room (217) as poor as this one. Whilst the bed and pillows and desk area was fine, the carpet was almost worn out and the water pressure in the shower was pretty much a dribble. Turn the shower head upside down and the water all but stopped.
However, the barman was good, waitresses good, evening meal was very nice as was breakfast.

Stayed here before several times. The problem with booking with Hotel's.com was the inability to ask for a large double/king size bed on the booking form. So I went for the nearest option of a large single bed, which didn't really make any sense to me, and the hotel does NOT advertise beds of that nature. So we ended up with a twin bedded room.

The reputation was great, the reality less so.

Average overall, a tired establishment.

Nice location, cheap, easy parking.
Hotel is a bit of a time capsule. My room was on the bottom floor, had a strong musty smell that clung on to my clothing and baggage. Breakfast was okay, but deep fried toast???

Reception staff were lovely and friendly.
Room was not clean and had items left from previous guest under bed. Dust throughout. I cleaned ledges before sleepingg go. Holes in duvet cover. Sheets did not fit the beds leaving the mattress (without mattress protector) visible.
Basin tap very loose. Toilet needed good clean
It is tired but that would be fine if only it was properly clean.
Non English/Welsh member of staff (lady) at breakfast was very grumpy. Felt like we were putting her out by asking for a knife and milk with our coffee. Such a shame.
Location great and car parking easy.

Our stay at Ivy Bush was very comfortable and relaxing. The location and parking was excellent and all the staff were friendly. There was a good choice at breakfast but food could do with being a little warmer. There's plenty of room in the lounge areas and outdoor patio was good for when the sun came out! Loved the stained glass windows! We will definitely use the Ivy Bush again whenever we visit Carmarthen.

Although it states its wheelchair accessible, it’s not not enough room in lift for chair and case, corridors slim heavy door( which I understand fire doors). No assistance offered and smelt musty and of sick

Really nice hotel, friendly staff very clean and a good breakfast selection.
The only annoying thing was the doors were very loud, we needed to slam them to close and that was noisy in the morning.

we stayed in room 67 which is under the dining room there is no noise barrier between the floors so you heard every footstep and conversation between people it was that loud we went back out the room itself was very dusty and cleaned to a poor standard but the biggest problem was the shower tray had a big split in it which you had to avoid whilst having a shower it you wasnt aware of it it would have led to a nasty injury all this for £160 was definatly not worth it when explained to the front of house person they didnt seem too bothered

The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is dated, but in good state of repair. Looks like you are transported into 70ies. Breakfast is probably just "ok" if you're not too fancy

Ok for a weekend but dated, our wooden window was so worped we couldn't close it.
Carpets and decor looked tired.

Had a 3 night midweek stay in July, staying in a twin room on the 2nd floor (accessible by lift or stairs). Free parking on site (remember to register your car). The hotel is conveniently located for the town centre (2 minutes walk)
Friendly reception and service staff. The room was a good size, beds comfortable and with tea/coffee service replenished daily. Decor was a bit tired and the bathroom, although perfectly functional, could do with a lick of paint and some regrouting.
WiFi in the room was excellent, although the TV reception was a bit iffy.
Breakfast was superb, well stocked buffet of piping hot food, with plenty to choose from, plus cereals, fruit, juice and pastries. Tea/coffee brought to the table.
The hotel was busy, as it was hosting a coach holiday, but the restaurant and bar areas coped without issue

The only thing that I didn't like was the noise from the boiler. Going on and off all night long. Having said that I was offered a different room. I decided to stay where I was. My room was right above the boiler.

Fine for a night

Nice clean room. Hot shower and full breakfast - which was very high quality.

Nice, basic hotel. Rooms could do with a spruce up and dust but functional. Don’t expect to get anything other than BBC channels on TV as reception is rubbish.
Breakfast good and older lady running service absolutely lovely, a real credit.
There were coach parties, we decided to eat an evening meal and was warned food would take a while but it wasn’t too long

Great night. Great location and plenty of parking.
Great nigh and fab breakfast

We stayed for one night. Staff helpful and hard working. Rooms ok. Breakfast a disappointment. All items were cold and plates and tongs were very hot. Several items had not been replenished

Good base for touring. Hotel of good standard and better than economy chain hotels.

A lovely hotel, great room and comfortable bed. Decor a bit dated but all clean. Wonderful lounge and bar area. Friendly happy staff. There were some issues with the lift but as were on the first floor we could manage the stairs. A very relaxing break. Thank you.

Staff is friendly and very helpful. Room and washroom are very clean and well looked after. Had a comfortable stay at this property.

Our lower floor room had two windows which looked out on to an enclosed area used for storage. No hot water in the evening. Shower was very good in morning and bed comfortable. Bar prices were reasonable.
Self serve breakfast was very poor. Food was just warm and did not look appetising. Croissants were small and not replenished when we were at breakfast. A coach tour took priority, I suspect.
Stayed here a number of times previously in past years whilst working, but would hesitate to stay again.
