Very small room and even smaller shower. Ran out of pastries at breakfast
4.3
Very convenient to the train and the staff was great.
4.3
Great location, outstanding breakfast.
4.3
Stayed at the Royal as we were going to a concert at the Forum which is just nearby. Girl at reception extremely friendly and helpful. We managed to book one of the psrking spaces belonging to the hotel just round the corner which was very convenient. Would stay again.
4.3
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location.

Lovely hotel and we would
Book again. Our room looked a bit tired but we understand they are going through refurbishment.
Lovely
Comfy bed and everything you need in the room.
Like the choice on The breakfast menu makes a change from the normal fry up!
4.3
The mattress and the pilllows were too soft for us.

Great place to stay in Bath. Just outside the hubbub of the city, but very much walkable to the main attractions. Would definitely stay here again. Pay for parking at hotel, or public pay parking very close. It's old, but that's the charm!! Great bar/lounge on first floor, made yummy drinks and loved the local cider. Didn't eat at the restaurant though. Near market as well.
4.3
We had a great stay. Wish our room had had air conditioning. The windows opened onto flower boxes and a very busy street and curtains were a problem. We waited a long time for hot water for first shower.
Breakfasts were great, staff extremely friendly and helpful and room was a nice size. We would stay again.
4.3
A classic hotel in Bath, with updated infrastructure but maintaning the original proposal, and a delicious breakfast
4.3
The hotel is lovely, right across the street from the railway station. It had several adverts on line and I thought I booked The Royal about 6 km away. I assumed a king size bed but it turned out to be a large double. The room was lovely, windows opened, but it was hot. Even with the fan we were uncomfortable.
4.3
This is an old hotel in a run down area of Bath our room only had access to hot water at certain times of the day. Even then it was insufficient to risk taking a shower so we didn't bother. We had a water leak which wasn't huge but but looked like it had been there for a long time and was routinely ignored by the staff. The room overlooked a pretty disgusting rooftop which didn't help. The only positive thing was the location. Would we go back? No.
4.3
Right next to the station and very close to all the shops and restaurants so it’s ideal
4.3
Right opposite the train station so very handy for anyone who has mobility problems. Much quieter than I was expecting and the bed was extremely comfortable. Bedroom had plenty of supplies - including Earl Grey teabags, a cafetière and ground coffee, biscuits etc, also towelling robes and slippers. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. No food service after 6pm but within a short walking distance of many restaurants and bars.
4.3
Great hotel close to all attractions and extremely handy to the rail station. Staff, particularly the receptionist, were very good.
4.3
Very enjoyable stay - friendly staff
4.3
A lovely hotel, very welcoming and perfect for our short stay in Bath. Very close to the station but not affect by train noise and just a few minutes’ walk to the Roman Baths, Thermae Spa and other attractions. Highly recommend.
4.3
We had a helpful and warm, friendly welcome with help in exploring the city and a lovely room. Nothing could be improved upon.
4.3
The people were incredibly friendly professional and helpful.
4.3
Nice staff, big roms, but of you stay here you I would not recommend the restaurant.
4.3
Old things that are difficult to handle

This hotel has a lovely location and could be a wonderful gem in Bath. The woman who checked us in was so gracious and wonderful.
We arrived at our room (107) and the bedding and bathroom were spotless. The room smelled strongly of Clorox or some very strong cleanser.
The room is in serious need of good maintenance. The wallpaper is peeling up in multiple places. The carpet is loose, the caulk is gross on the step to the shower. There is a weird gap in the bathroom ceiling with an open chasm of cobwebs.
We had to ask for help because our bedside light and several outlets were not powered, despite flipping the on button beside it. When we expressed concerns to the man who was working the front desk he came up and fixed it, but was extremely dismissive to our other concerns.
In the end, the bed was relatively comfortable, with quality sheets and comforter.
I think I would be content with this hotel for a lower rate, but thought the price value was way off for $225/night.
This was our second stay in bath- and we found the Bird Bath to be a much superior hotel, for a similar rate.
4.3
Do not stay on the 4th floor. The birds will keep you up all night! Also, the breakfast is NOT free. They don't tell you it is $12.95 each morning.
4.3
Incredible!! Loved everything about our stay in this historic hotel. The reception staff was unparalleled- so warm and friendly and helpful with local tips (thank you Andrea & Tim!!). The rooms were comfortable and clean and well stocked with what we needed for our overnight stay. Only regret is that we weren’t there longer!! The house restaurant menu looked great and the prices were very competitive. Just no time to actually try it. Maybe another time.
4.3
The only complaint I would have is a weak wi fi signal. Other than that, the hotel is excellent.
4.3
Great location and service. Loved bar and restaurant. However, hotel is old and this shows in rooms. They are small and airless. The bathroom was mouldy.
4.3
Nice and cosy, close to public transport and close to "everything".
4.3
The staff were welcoming and friendly, the room was wonderful, there were three of us, my husband , and adult daughter and myself. The room and bathroom were spacey, clean and comfortable. They are in a great location across from the train station (not noisy) and a walk to all lot of sites, no need for a car.
4.3
The Royal is a beautiful and historic hotel. The location is close to the train station and an easy walk to the historic centre of Bath. The staff are lovely and the welcome was warm. The room was comfortable and breakfast was good. I would stay here again.
4.3
I did not realise that I needed to book for breakfast and evening meals as I had not had to do this before in my, not very frequent, stays in hotels in the UK. Consequently, my disabled wife and myself had to go out for meals. A disappointment for us.
The staff were very considerate and understanding of our deafness and my wife's mobility problems.
4.3
Very basic room
4.3
Great location, nice rooms but a little run down. Some lovely touches in the room - tea/coffee tray with ground coffee, biscuits and chocolates.
Staff were amazing - very friendly and helpful.
4.3
I had a pleasant stay
4.3
2 night stay. Lovely hotel with amazing staff. Breakfast was excellent. Had 1 evening meal which for the cost was amazing. Comfortable room and very quiet. Would definitely recommend.
4.3
It was a well-placed hotel (near the train station, not very loud at night) and incredibly comfortable. After a long train journey it was really nice to arrive and find tea and biscuits in my room so I could sort myself. I have to give thanks to Andrea at the front desk who was especially helpful with a few questions, and when they couldn't fit me in for breakfast, suggested the near by restaurant Cafe au Lait (which may be my new favourite breakfast/brunch spot) I slept well, and was able to get a lot of writing done. I may claim it as an ideal spot for a writing retreat. This is a hotel with character so they warn you that it may take a minute or two for water to heat up, and the lift takes a bit of time BUT it does get you to your floor. Yes you get to hear the bells ring from the nearby Abbey.
4.3
would love to stay again, great location.
4.3
Very close to station and an easy walk to shops and pubs. Aside from a really creaky floor, the room was quiet and although the hotel was overheated, our room had opening windows for fresh air. TV was a bit small but Wifi was good. Could do with some modernising but our stay was pleasant.
4.3
Friendly staff, good varied menu. Comfortable room but need some upgrading.
4.3
Good location, clean and comfortable.
Friendly staff, they helped me to arrange staying one more night.
4.3
All very satisfactory
