Hotel staff friendly breakfast nice rooms clean and tidy will stay again

The msin entrance of the hotel is nice but inside it can do with a coat of paint and the corrido carpets need some life. Food was nice.

For a 3 star hotel it was good

Hotel was perfectly fine, the only issue we really had was that the place is cashless, and this was not mentioned anywhere beforehand (I have had a quick check again before making the review). This caused a bit of a problem getting to the hotel after midnight and only having cash, but luckily was resolved and the staff were great about it in fairness. Just maybe make that abundantly clear before people book?

First impression as you pull up, were not great, the hotel looks a little tierd and dated ,could do with a lick of paint, and a bit of a tidy up.
We rocked up to reception, fella sitting on a chair, never really said 2 words , we said we are checking in, name ,we then filled in a form, key was given, .what happened to ,good Evening, welcome to The Trecarn Hotel, customer service seems to have gone out the window, and your supposed to put up with what they dish out, well not me.
Room was small and compact, a few cobwebs on the lights, and radiator, the garden out the back ,had plates and cup outside, and they were still there when we left sunday morning doesn't really create a good impression. Shower was decent, and it served a purpose, would i stay there again, no i would'nt, would i recommend it, no i wouldnt.

Loved the area and local to other destinations. Great price with entertainment most nights.
Great stay thank you

Everything great

Very basic room, bed was very uncomfortable hardly slept, cobwebs around corners of ceiling ,mould along bath. Lucky only overnight stay. 1 tea bag and 1 coffee sachet!!
3.2
A good hotel ashort bus ride from Torquay but a much quieter resort and very nice sea front with views.
3.2
The hotel looks a bit run down and the rooms are basic and in need of redecoration. However, every member of staff was helpful and courteous. There was entertainment each evening and the public areas were comfortable. There had clearly been some investment recently as the shower was new and that was great. There is tea and coffee in the room and can be replenished at reception. In all, for the price, this is a pleasant place to stay and it is close to the town.

Pheonix nights

The hotel staff and maids were very helpful and friendly and ready to assist in any way possible.
The condition of hotel is old and needs updating. There was no curtain door and shower curtain was small so i had to put towels outside in order not too get too wet.
There was no room service every day...probably trying to save money.
I would stay because of location but overall i was disappointed as clearly no money is being spent on the property.

We were staying for one night to attend the theatre. It looks quite run down from the outside. But we were made to feel so welcomed by the lovely lady on reception.
The room was clean and ideal for us.

The place is great well priced and located brilliant

Perfectly good budget hotel near coast, no parking but on-street parking on the same road is plentiful. Staff very friendly and helpful.
3.2
The staff are friendly. I love to spend a night there because it is suitable for me and close to my workplace. Always when I request a quiet room, the hotel found for me. It is great.
3.2
"You get what you pay for" is the perfect adage for this hotel. One night stay in single room. Bit damp, bit musty, so small the bathroom door opened halfway before hitting the bed, ground floor window didn't open. Black mould in shower, and lovely view of the gas cylinders out back. But for £33, the sheets were clean and the bed adequate, and once the loud, live, Sunday "entertainment" had stopped at 10pm and the room on the other side of the paper thin walls had turned off their TV, sleep was found.
3.2
staff was rude and condescending, said free wifi but was actually 7 quid for a night, toothpaste marks on mirrors and hair in the shower
grotty

Nice cheap hotel

Excellent value for money, room was clean and comfortable. We didnt have breakfast but that also looked very nice
3.2
Stayed one night only, arrived too late but the reception was opened.
3.2
No parking available we had to park about half a mile away I am disabled and had to carry my bags and cases up a hill. Then the actual room was up and down stairs and a long narrow long passages. Had to keep curtains closed as the room was overlooked. Was insulted by another guest on the way in because of my clothing. Will not recommend and definitely never stay there again.
3.2
All generally good just some areas of the building are dated/ rooms, & the beds are very firm, would benefit with foam topper would make them more comfortable until replaced.
The parking is a bit hit & miss as it's on street parking.
3.2
This was an okay place to stay for one night but the hotel was well past its prime and badly needs an update everything kind of works like it's jury rigged and fixed in the room. Good location and beautiful scenery around the cliff side
3.2
Could not get dinner after 1930 pm beds were so hard that we couldn’t sleep for long the , locks had to be repaired ,the wall near my bed was damp ,and the outside window frames were really dirty. .would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
3.2
This hotel doesn't deserve the time it would take to describe every complaint. I'll sum it up with "Never again".
3.2
Limited parking but had a nice time and it’s a nice hotel.
3.2
Loves staying at this hotel, have stayed there four times now, staff are always friendly the entertainment is good most nights, depending whose on,and not to far to walk to the beautiful views of the seafront
3.2
Quiet, comfortable bed. Pleasant receptionist on check in.
No window in room ( this should be advised at point of booking) Could do with a lick of paint. Outdoor area untidy. Expensive Wi-fi at £7.00 per day.

A warm friendly welcome set the scene when we arrived for our 3 night stay in June. All staff were pleasant and delightful. Nothing to fault, apart from an uncomfortable dip in one mattress. We did not use the restaurant. The hotel is old but the rate paid was a bargain and we hope to return.
3.2
Great value for money lovely room and good helpful staff
3.2
It’s a big old hotel , it has its faults , but my room had a comfy bed , a good modern tv , and a good hot shower , and the reception were nice people , all for £33 for the night ! No complaints here .
3.2
When we arrived found we were in room 221 which was top floor, was situated behind a fire exit door (fire hazard), the smell of paint was horrendous. Asked to be moved which the lovely young lady on the desk moved us downstairs to room 0001. This room was much better, however, during the night around 1:40am there was a gentleman outside of our room on a mobility scooter, reversing up and down the corridor the scooter was beeping away, the man was coughing and shaking his keys for a good 40 minutes. Other than this our stay was ok.
3.2
I was very disappointed to have to pay for the last night when domestic issues necessitated me checking out a day early. This is vefy unfair .
3.2
The staff are very friendly. I booked for only 1 night. The hotel doesn't have car parking, but this didn't bother me. The room was clean. Very simple hotel, but I enjoyed my evening. Thank you.
3.2
Its not the ritz but overall a very pleasant place. Close to all the amenities of Babbacombe and a half hour walk from Torquay . They booked us in early asked for extra pillows which they gave us straight away. Thinking of going back in the near future.
3.2
The room smelled of cat pee, old dirty everything including a nasty shower curtain… never again …
3.2
Nice clean room, great breakfast at a very reasonable price.
3.2
External planters full of weeds no plants. Large skip on full view as you approach the main entrance along with other building materials at various points at the front of the building. The hedge was also overgrown.
Damage to various parts of the corridor ceilings on the upper floor which were badly patched with bits of plaster board, while other large cracks were just left. The wall paper on this floor is either coming away from the walls or the paint is patchy. In general it needs TLC and a serious amount of maintenance
The food is mediocre at best and the choice for vegetarians is almost non existent. When we asked if the cabanara was suitable for vegatarians we were told no but we could have the veg and roast potatoes like that was acceptable. Why would you pay £15 for that.
I've been to several other Britania hotels and while they have all been basic they were at least a least a little more accommodating so on that premise i won't be rushing back to this one.

The Lack of Choice of Sachets in Rooms for Drinks,
EG Hot chocolate, and other Tea's.
