We had an amazing and relaxing 2 night stay here. Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains. The staff were very kind and helpful, and the Kaiseki meals and breakfasts were great (and huge). The public and private onsens were really nice, and not crowded at all possibly because we visited during the summer. Great location to visit the snow monkey park!

Was a most wonderful and relaxing experience. Only the fact that the indoor pool is closed for the whole month of June was disappointing.

Thank you very much for the hospitality.
Everything was very nice.
If I have to rank from 1 - 10; I would give almost in every parameter 10
Food, will give 9
Still a very high ranking, so would be more then happy to come back.
Shopping of souvenirs, a bit limited, but it is o.k
Thank you again for the excellent hospitality.

This was an incredible place to stay! Authentic Japanese traditions shared with us and the entire place was beautiful! You can walk to the entrance to the Snow Monkeys from here! They make up your bed while you are out. The beds are twin futons on the floor so be prepared, but it was fun! A little stiff when we woke up. Wish we had stayed another night to enjoy the warm bath!

Having the ability to hire crampons and walking sticks was very useful for walking to the snow monkeys

This accommodation is outstanding. The dinners and breakfasts were wonderful and the service was amazing, as was the onsen.

An amazing ryokan next to the monkey park. Loved the Japanese room, the lobby and the onsen, esp the outdoor onsen.

The proximity to the Snow Monkey park was great. I didn’t like that they did not inquire about sizes needed for yukayas as other ryokans had done. Japanese cuisine was very nice.

Good location to monkey park, excellent services, friendly staff, great meals (dinner and Japanese breakfast) and hotel room

Good hotel close to the Snow Monkey Park. Outdoor and indoor ryokan and a mix of Japanese and traditional rooms. Staff speak reasonable English and are friendly and helpful.
Downsides: rooms are very hot in the winter due to central heating. The hotel feels a bit dated and could you a refresh in some places.

Amazing stay and would highly recommend if you are looking for an immersive and authentic experience in Japan with close access to the Snow Monkey Park. The staff are incredibly friendly and hospitable. There is a vendor who brings in fresh fruit. Definitely purchase the high grade grapes as they are huge and very sweet and delicious. The private onsens were amazing. The hotel thought of all the details to make the experience a memorable one!

I love love LOVED our stay. I have been telling everyone about. The service was wonderful. The staff were amazing. Of all the accommodation we stayed in during our trip, this place had the most authentic and special vibe to it. From greeting us at arrival, to the moment of check out, I was impressed with every aspect of the stay: the traditional room, the beautiful garden and waterfall, the onsens, the meals and especially, the lovely service. Do yourself a favour, and stay here.

First impressions are typically lasting ones. My first impression was awesome! They called us in advance to confirm our stay and the time of our arrival and to let us know that there are not many restaurants (at least not for dinner) nearby. We arrived late for check in but the staff were quick to kindly meet us out front before we even had the car doors open. From the moment we stepped foot into the hotel it was obvious there was a lot of time and effort into making our stay enjoyable. There is a view from virtually every window in the hotel. Waterfalls, tree’s, ponds with coy fish, etc... The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and packed with all the necessary amenities. The private onsen was beautiful only to realize we hadn’t even seen the best part, we sat in the hot indoor onsen oblivious to the outdoor one. And the best part, tattoos are allowed! On the public onsen and pool, but for ¥1.500 we choose to use the private onsen. Once we made our way to the outdoor onsen we were nice and cozy and able to enjoy the view of the trees and the snow in privacy. Slept like a rock and woke up to an amazing breakfast with a wide variety of homemade and local goodness. Once dressed and ready for the day it was a 20 minute walk to see the monkeys and the hotel provided a discount to the park. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Awesome hotel, I hope I get the opportunity to stay again. 10/10.

We couldn't have asked for a better stay! The location of the hotel is walking distance to the snow monkey park and the staff couldn't be more helpful. We really enjoyed the facilities, the included meals and the private onsen. Would full heartedly recommend and stay here again.

Stayed for one night to visit the Snow Monkeys and Obuse. Every area is meticulously maintained with exceptional attention to detail. The private onsen was beautiful and being able to be outdoors with snow on the ground was a special experience. Breakfast was served with great courtesy and brief introductions to the items served which enhanced the experience. The lounge, with self service coffee and tea station, as well as the selection of books and western classical music CDs was like a throw back to a more elegant and relaxed era.

We were disappointed to be told if we did not have the special Asian dinner there was no other choice???
All other restaurants in the area were closed on Monday. day.
When we booked we declined the expensive meal for something simpler.
We were also told we needed t let the hotel know 3 days in advance?? But had no choice on arrival. Disappointing

The Property was in very good shape and the hotel staff was very kind and helpful. Most do not speak English so there can be some language issues but that is to be expected. Other than eating at the hotel which was good but expensive there is not a great deal of choices to eat in the immediate area so that into account. If you want to see the monkeys this is the place to stay for sure . But be warned you will need good walking boots because the path can be icy. I saw people walking with sneakers and in my view they were an accidents waiting to happen.

Overall excellent stay with great service. The tea & coffee room is much appreciated. Location being nearest hotel to the snow monkey park is also a big plus.

We had a brilliant 24 hours at this hotel. We could have stayed a week! Attentive staff, train pick up, meals included and great access to the Snow Monkeys.
Hotel room was spectacular with a great snowy valley view.
Terrific swimming pool and Onsen.
Japanese food - superb!
Could not fault this place!

Great location and overall good but we found the food a bit disappointing. One of the main reasons for choosing this hotel was for the restaurant reviews and we didn’t find the quality of food or service as good as other places where we’d stayed during our trip. We felt rushed - one dinner we had four courses at the same time. There was no bar in the hotel. We wanted a beer early evening and were told we had to buy it from the vending machine..... He Onsen was nice but we had to pay extra for the private Onsen which again in other places it was by reservation but no extra charge. Good size bedroom. Swimming pool was a bonus. Dated but great water temperature.

Located very close to the starting point of the walking path to the Snow Monkey Park which was convenient to us. Food and service were excellent. Room was big and we had a good view from the balcony. Bathroom needed an update but they had everything we needed.
