The property was very spacious, clean and staff was super friendly. I would recommend the cottages to anyone staying in Placencia while traveling in Belize!

We stayed in the beachfront villa. The accommodation is beautiful. The pool the beach the location is amazing ! BUT…
But, the service is beyond slow for everything. Ridiculously slow.
I believe we got food poisoning on the last night or a very bad infection.
The restaurant food was good, but expensive and again the service was slow. And the hotel was very quiet!!!!!
After spending $5k on a weekend getaway I would have hoped for a greater level of service

This is an amazing resort, the infinity pool over looking the beach is incredible. The staff was pleasant and cordial. Each person constantly asking to assist you with an needs to make your stay more enjoyable. Freddie the poilside bartender and the other gentlemen chopping coconuts poolside...awesome.

We wanted to like Itz'ana more than we did. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful and stunning with a perfect setting. The bartenders and wait staff were so friendly and great.
But something was missing. First off, I think the front desk and concierge need more help or more resources. Pretty much everything we asked for they seemed like they wanted to help but the hotel couldn't (like an early breakfast because we had to get on the road early, or recommendations for dinner or a spa in town.)
Also, the really cool bar they are famous for was closed
for construction while we were there. I know construction can be unavoidable, but some locals in town told us the bar is like never open anymore because of staffing issues.
One final gripe, the massages cost upward of $200 for 90 minutes. That's more expensive than NYC, SF, and LA. I simply cannot understand why they would be so expensive, especially since the massage room is just a converted hotel room.

What a gorgeous place! Old world glamour meets boho modern. The decor alone is enough to write home about! And wait until you experience the service. Sigh… magnificent experience, can’t wait to get back!

Property is beautiful and clean but staff was a bit on the slow side with food and beverages order. I would definitely stay again.

The resort is extremely beautiful. I visited during the off season(end of May early June) so there was no need to rush to enjoy the pool or chairs. The beach is beautiful with lots of various seating arrangements. I did not enjoy the resort food not worth it at all. The area was peaceful and I felt safe. I would suggest eating at the beach bar not too far from Itz’ana and going into the village for various food selections. I enjoyed green parrot the best( the food was delicious) beach was lovely as well. Overall a great experience.

Gorgeous property, friendly staff. The food service was very slow for both dinner and breakfast, and it was their off season. They seemed to be well staffed. Must just be on island time.

Beautiful property and friendly staff, it was a great place to start our family vacation. Be ready for Belizean time for your meals, they are no rush and relaxed as you enjoy dining on property. While our kids (9 and 5) were probably the youngest ones on property, they never felt out of place and enjoyed exploring the beach or grounds while we enjoyed the pool or longer meals. Our beach view villa was plenty big for a family of four, the kids enjoyed the plunge pool and outdoor shower and bath. The W/D was nice to have!

My wife and I celebrated our 7th anniversary at Itz'Ana and had a great time! The staff was friendly, though a bit slow, even by beach standards. Regardless, we were well taken care of and the grounds are magnificent, we were very satisfied with the trip as a whole! Food and drinks were EXCELLENT, truly well done. Big shout out to Johnny and the cocktail class, it was so much fun!

This was a GREAT resort and we only wished we have more time as we only got one night. The property is gorgeous and unique. It’s right on the coastline with direct access to the beach (and a beautiful hang out area). The swimming area is nice including views of the ocean and there’s a small bar with bites. The restaurant was outdoors and indoors. They had amazing coffee (complimentary) which I know it weird to compliment but some of the best coffee Ive ever had. The staff were super friendly and they were accommodating of shuttle rides daily. The rooms have a/c and balconies. Super clean and eco-friendly. Overall we love and highly recommend this resort.

Beware the false/misleading pictures on the "deluxe" room. There are 7 pictures specifically for the deluxe room when you look at the room info. Of those 7, only 2 show the actual deluxe room, 3 of them show a suite. (the other 2 are just bathroom pics). This is very misleading if not false advertising. I tried to explain this to the front desk staff but they either did not care or did not understand. The deluxe rooms are very basic and small for what they charge.
Other than that, the pool area was great, the couple meals we had were very good, and the bartenders/servers were very friendly and attentive. The property as a whole is very nice, but if I knew what type of room we were getting I would have booked somewhere else given the cost.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our week stay at Itz'ana Resort!! The property is truly exceptional and very well maintained. We swam in the pool every single day, the restaurant food is delicious for all meals, and the bars (inside and at the pool) serve amazing drinks. The staff was incredible. They were so friendly to us, the service was top notch, and they got to know our 3.5 year old son so well. They were great to him everyday! The resort has daily activities that you can sign up for, they will help you with booking excursions, and the beach has fun activities like bean bags, hammocks, volleyball and kayaks. Our room Deluxe Room was gorgeous overlooking the property and they did a great job of cleaning it everyday. They had a little bit of construction going on and needed to access our room, so we were upgraded to a Beach Loft for the last two nights which was a wonderful surprise. They picked us us from the airport and brought us back at the end of the stay. I wish we could have stayed for longer than a week! I would recommend this resort to anyone coming to Placencia, including families with kids!

I'm really disappointed in our stay at Itz'ana in Placencia. The Wifi was not working during our entire stay. When we arrived, other guests said the internet was broken for over 1 week. My husband was supposed to work for 3 days during our stay and the internet never turned on. The front desk kept assuring us the internet would be fixed "in a few hours" but it never got fixed.
The air conditioning in common areas was broken. Our room key cards never worked. Each time the front desk would reset our key cards and they would never work. We would spend 25 minutes walking back and forth between our room and front desk to try to get into our room. This was a huge headache since we had a baby and needed to get into our room. Another guest had the same issue with her room key cards.
The property is beautiful, but when the Wifi, Air Conditioning, and room key cards are broken, it creates a miserable stay. Many guests were trying to work and were unable to get internet for over 1 weeks.

First, this property is stunning, Just stunning. The decor, the detail, is top notch. What was so surprising is how poor the service was. There were some efforts being made in terms of food and beverage, as there was a consultant there, and things did really did improve over the 5 days. The food is really very good. The bartenders were excellent, Michael and Midge! Johnnie did a wonderful gob with a very nice dinner. The front desk staff is just well, awful. There is zero problem solving. One work answers, and they didn't even know what events were goin on, in their own hotel! I was handed some papers and told to "Pick" something in regards to recommendations for a tour. Just get your own online. It was as if they were paid to stand there and check people in. The pool is amazing, the beach is great, just know it isn't really a swimming beach. Would have been nice if they would have refilled the coffee in the morning on the beach. Housekeeping came at 6 pm, didn't even refill my coffee or take away my dishes. Also there was awful loud construction right over my room. They never should have sold that room. I requested to see a manager, and it never happened. Again, a one word answer, no follow through. I would like to go back, and do the sister resort as I heard it is better. I will have to think about it though. It really is a beautiful place, the town is pretty quiet though. I was told it was chill, it was quiet and empty.

Itz'tana is wonderful with one major exeption. The entire staff were attentive, accommodating and genuinely kind. The property is beautiful, the pool incredible, the beach gorgeous. The only issue, and it's a biggie, is the food which is truly, amazingly, almost hilariously bad. We loved literally every other part of our stay there. Were it not for the food we would already be planning our return. The resort is so wonderful, I hope very much they hire someone to come fix the menu. It's the only thing holding Itz'tana back from becoming a world-class property If you go, you'll have a great time, just plan to eat literally anywhere else

Where do I start? The moment we got to the resort we were welcomed by Heidi who brought us to our room. She was the most kind and helpful dront desk person there! Heraldo made our long weekend a blast and kept the drinks flowing. I dont know how many welcome Freshnesses i had, but they never disappointed! The resort itself is magical, like something out of a book. Mark, Juan, and Roland were also very accommodating setting up our shuttle's and golf cart rental which i highly recommend doing. The rooms were impeccable and THAT POOL. You have to see it to believe how prestine and beautiful the Infinity pool is. I cannot wait to come back. Highly recommend!

This property is absolutely beautiful and I wish our experience had been better.
During our "orientation" Pedro told us that the resort was at full capacity and they might run out of towels at the pool.
The AC stopped working in our room in the middle of the night. It was extremely hot, and even with the ceiling fan on, it was impossible to get any sleep. Opening the door to our balcony didn't help at all as the humidity was unbearable and there was no breeze. I called the front desk, but no one answered. I walked over to reception only to find everything was closed and there were no lights on. There was absolutely no one around; not even a nightguard at the desk, as we had been told would be the case after hours.
The resort provides you with a Whatsapp contact for staff to use "after hours". I texted and called, but there was no response. In the morning, I saw they had read my messages, but still no one got back to me.
After breakfast I walked to the front desk and reported the AC situation in my room. They told me someone would "look into it". By noon there was still no AC. The front desk staff said they had reset the unit and it should be working. I was told if the AC wasn't working by 1pm, they would find me a different room with a working AC. I knew this to be false information! How could they find me a new room if the resort was completely full?
Long story short, the AC was never repaired. We paid for 2 sleepless nights.

The pool area is amazing and our room was very comfortable. One of the nicest beds we’ve slept in. Staff were friendly and attentive and were punctual in replying to messages sent before and during our stay. The resort is a 30min cycle out of the village so we made use of the free shuttle and the bikes. The staff very kindly organised a fruit platter in celebration of our anniversary. Highly recommended.
We had a fantastic stay but had a problem with the eco credentials the hotel tries to promote (signs in the rooms). We were asked to hang towels that we were happy to reuse (this is what we did) but everyday the housekeeping changed them all. Over a 4 night stay our bedding was changed twice. Housekeeping always lowered the air conditioning to 16c. Although there is some water around the pool served in dispensers, nearly all water was bottled.

The staff are truly phenomenal. Joel who picked us up at the airport was always welcoming, warm and attentive.
All the staff in Food and beverage and the housekeepers were extremely accommodating.
Kimberly the guest services manager was thoughtful, anticipated our needs and recommends the very best tours.
Overall, the staff make this property what it is!! 5-star service.
