Our group of 4 thoroughly enjoyed this house set above the beach. We had plenty of options for bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen was well-equipped. We just needed to buy some loaf pans from the local thrift store as one of our members makes a great bread. The views were awesome. We did morning walks along the highway to Governor Patterson Memorial State Park to access the beach. We did day trips to Newport, Perpetua Bay, Haceta Lighthouse, and Florence.

Great location and a very unique place. I love the older homey style and feel of the place I would stay again :)
That being said it’s very chopped up with two small living rooms downstairs and two little kitchens and two separate up stairs. It’s set up to rent two very small rentals so kinda strange but cool and if going with two couples would be great for a little separation :)

Property was beautiful and peaceful. Home did have a a lot of spyder webs. No screen in window in upstairs bedroom with daybed over looking ocean where the little one was suppose to sleep.

Was given 2 six digit codes to get in front door which were
sent to my email. Unfortunately I have the Vrbo app. open
which to me makes sense seeing that I booked and have used this app. on numerous Rentals. No codes sent to app.
There we are with Groceries melting on porch with no way to get in!!!! Tried texting on app pleading with someone to call us on our phone and received no return to our 8 calls and texts???? My Dad arrives about 45 minutes later and starts walking around house and finds a phone number on top of carport NOT near front door.
I call this number and a person answers and says let me reset door this may take a couple of try's?? But the real kicker is your 4 digit code NOT the six digit codes they sent to my email is the last 4 of your cell#. Why don't you let people know this an hour or so before check-in on the app??????. The app is there for a reason for the TOTAL transaction!!!! Very frustrating!!!!

This house has the potential to be nice, but it was quite dirty and has an awful odor! I spent the first day cleaning to make it livable for our group. Called to complain the next morning - housekeeping came and did more cleaning. It was better, but the entire place still needed detailed top to bottom cleaning. The outdoor areas also dirty and in desperate need of yard detail.
Overall presentation poor - except has nice ocean view.

We all had enough room - publicly and privately for a long weekend w/family and friends.
Considering making this an annual stay!

This home has the potential to be beautiful and truly inviting. It is really 2 homes combined as 1 with a door to separate the 2 homes. The newer side was fairly clean. It has a lovely master suite upstairs with tons of windows. But all windows (on both sides of the home) were filthy. The master bedroom on the newer side has an enclosed deck off of it with a view through plexiglass of the ocean. But this deck has no furniture to sit on out there to enjoy - and was super filthy. All the windows in the entire home need to be cleaned. And the place needed to be dusted. Sitting on the deck downstairs at the back of the house to enjoy the ocean view is nice - but could be improved immensely if they cut back the over grown shrubs, bushes and grass. It has NO BEACH ACCESS because apparently it was damaged in a storm months ago - and they still haven't repaired it as of June 2023. The larger home of the 2 looks nothing like the photos. It is dark and dingy. The carpet in the larger side of the home is old looking, dark and just yucky. No way did I want to walk on it barefoot. If I owned this place I would remove it and replace it with light flooring of some kind. The bathrooms and kitchen were nice and clean. Fully equipped kitchen in the newer side to cook in. I didn't use the older side's kitchen - mainly because I just didn't like going over to that side it was so gloomy. And the newer side has 2 electric fireplaces - 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs that were very VERY lovely.

We had a wonderful time at our little reunion of 3 couples. One couple from Corvallis, one from Medford and from Minnesota. The ocean view and location was exceptional. If I had any negatives, would be that the furniture is a little tired. Tables could be refinished. Also we were told there was a hairdryer, but there was only the box, no hairdryer!
Neighbors were very friendly and welcoming. Very nice place to retreat to. Would definitely come back!! Thank you.

The house fit all our needs and made our 1 night stay amazing. The house is so unique and we enjoyed all the little details the house had to offer. Thank you for hosting!

We had a great stay at Dowd House. It is actually two connected units, which worked out for our group. The house is older, but clean and mostly functional. There were some quirks, like the bathroom doors that don't stay shut unless locked, but otherwise a great place to stay. We loved that it was quiet and secluded with great views of the ocean.

The Dowd house was a good stay. Plenty of room and pet friendly with 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, 2 kitchens! Loved the wood burning fireplace, and views from the upstairs rooms facing the coast. Waldport is a small town with only a few dining options, Mexican food place and pizza places were both wonderful. House is located on a high coastal bank. Getting to the beach was a bit difficult as the main pathway has had erosion and the stairs have been washed away on the final 10 feet down, so getting down was difficult. We were lucky to find a local who led us back another path down the beach that most would not know if he had not shown us. We also had a leak in the ceiling above the downstairs bedroom when someone was showering in the bathroom above and soaked part of the mattress below. Rental agency did offer to send someone out, but it was late on a holiday night, we managed as it was out last night. Amazing views, super comfortable beds. They would need to address the beach access, and leak in ceiling for me to return, but overall we had a fun time just the same.

Our family had a fabulous time here! The beds were super comfortable ( not often the case at many other rentals we've stayed at), and we had everything we needed to prepare meals. Really nice touch that they supplied firewood too. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. We may have found our new favorite place along the Oregon coast!
