This house is located in a beautiful location at Big Glen Lake. Water is warm and great for swimming, though you do need to watch out for Swimmers itch. We had a lot of fun kayaking. There are no kayaks at the house but they can be rented easily and are delivered to the house. Proximity to the Sleeping Bear Dunes, Glen Haven, Glen Arbor, and Traverse City makes this house a perfect staging ground for many outdoor activities, dining, and shopping. House is big enough for a large party with lots of room to stretch. But the property needs improvement to make this a much more pleasant stay. Carpets are very stained, especially in the bedroom facing the lake on the first floor. They really need deep cleaning or likely need to be replaced. When we arrived, there was food on the floor in the hallway pantry. Patio was very messy and we had to clean it ourselves as soon as we got there. Toys and water gear were thrown on the garage floor blocking one of the side doors. There were mouse droppings in the house. One of the showers had only hot water so it was not usable. More comfortable seating is needed for the first floor patio facing the lake. Bathroom fans don't really work and are very loud. There was only one smoke detector in the entire house which is a safety hazard. Air conditioners work well when needed. There are rusty carpet tacks sticking out of the carpet in the kitchen which we had to cover to prevent injury. Wifi is spotty and does not fully cover the entire house. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and had a great time, but were disappointed in the condition of the house. I expect better for the amount of money we paid for the week.

Great location on Glen Lake. House was clean upon arrival. Amenities could stand to be freshened up a bit. Vacasa fees seem high.

This is a fantastic place in a calm spot on Big Glen! The pantry and kitchen are well stocked for a big group, there is plenty of hot water, and the beach is very close to the house. Plenty of seating and places to spread out. We loved using the firepit and dock. Decor is dated, and the carpet is hard to keep clean, but that's not important when you're in the warm water!

Great location right on Big Glen Lake. Plenty of room for 3 adults. The upstairs area is well done with multiple skylights, ceiling beams, plenty of open space. But we experienced the following problems: • The email with our access code sent to us the morning of our scheduled arrival provided an incorrect code, so that we could not open the locked key box. We were able to obtain the correct code by calling Vacasa's 800 number; staff there contacted local Vacasa staff who quickly reached out to us with the correct code. The problem was solved quickly and professionally. But it did provide a hassle after a six-hour drive. And could all renters solve this problem for themselves? • The ice-maker in the refrigerator was not working; this is a common problem in rentals. We reported it to Vacasa, but did not stress that it was a big problem. We solved it with a bag of ice and by buying two ice cube trays. • The dishwasher was difficult to get to work; it didn't respond to entered commands without repeated tries or waiting a while between tries. Likely a control panel issue. We did get the dishwasher to work as needed and Vacasa indicated that a discount would be applied to my credit card as a result of this problem. • There was not sufficient hot water in the downstairs west bathroom closest to the living room (but sufficient hot water in the upstairs bathroom and the first floor east bathroom). • We had mice in the house twice during the week; both times we were able to capture them and release them outside. We had an enjoyable eight-day stay. The house is nice and the location is great. Mice are inevitable in a wooded area. But the problems with the ice-maker, dishwasher, and insufficient hot water in the one bathroom need to be addressed by someone, either the owners or Vacasa, because this is not a cheap rental.

The beach and family-friendly house are definite positives. The beach is well maintained and lots of fun for the kids. The water is shallow way out, so we didn't have to worry about a close to cabin drop off. However, there were multiple negatives that made us decide not to rent here again. The house is dirty. Others have mentioned this problem as far back as 2018, but we thought with the new COVID cleaning procedures this would not be a problem, it was. There was a bra under one bed, just at the edge, so vacuuming must be very superficial. Underwear in a drawer, so not checking to see if off things are left behind. There was a mouse trap in the corner of the living room and the resident mouse ate the cheese right off it! We trapped it, put it outside (live) and watched it come back in a hole between the fireplace and wall, we plugged it. The ice maker on the refrigerator did not work and the dishwasher stopped working 3 days in. We called Vacasa and were told 'They wouldn't be able to get to it during our stay, is that a problem?'. At $11,000 for our 2 weeks, yes it is a problem, but not one they cared about. There was black mold in one bathroom and spiders and webs all over the ceilings, Not that unusual for a lake house, but probably easy to knock down with a broom-which I felt I had already paid for, so didn't do it. If grunge and other people's dirt doesn't bother you and you really, really focus on the beach experience, then this is truly a good place to stay, but probably not for over $6000 per week which it is going to next year. It is a shame it isn't cleaner, because it was a nice area and easy access to Glen Arbor.
