There aren't too many places to eat. The selection is not large

We liked the helpfulness of the employees and the airco.
The breakfast was okay.
Less positive:
- the official online check-in procedure and digital room access sucks, but we could have a normal check-in at the reception desk
- until 08.00 PM anybody can walk in from the outside
- there was some white mould on one of the walls

Wonderful place to stay, great location and view right on the water. 5 min walk to shops/windmill village. Definitely recommend staying here

Internet checkin is useless as we did not have cell coverage before going to the hotel. The idea is poor
Hotel is great!

Nice hotel! I stayed for 5 nights with my family. The surroundings are beautiful. The room was comfortable and the service was good. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff was extremely friendly. We had a car which we parked in the streets around the hotel with no problems.

The room was big and well designed and fully furnished. It was clean.

Twin room beds were right next to each other not separated. Tight space for the price. We did not get a room with a view which was disappointing

The location is the best for what I wanted. We were able to walk to the windmills and village.

The daytime lady at the desk was amazing a sweet. Only complaint was trying to check in was beyond hard as we didnt get our email with instructions so we almost showed up too late without a place to stay. The gentlemen at the night were not the most helpful in finding our room that was not at the same location.

The check-in process was very confusing. Was I supposed to check in 24 hours in advance? The instructions say check-in is between three and eight on the day of arrival. I found the email to check in online and did so around 5 PM on the day of arrival. I awaited for the further instructions to find the room and get the electronic key. However, nothing ever was received details on the check-in indicated there was no hotel front desk. I was concerned the whole way there, not knowing what I was going to find. It was not a good feeling. Fortunately, the guy at the restaurant said no problem. I can take care of you gave us our keys because we had two rooms and we were all set for the night. It’s not the people it’s the process. The people were exceptionally accommodating, but the online process was confusing concerning and something I really don’t want to have to do again. The hotel was very clean the room pillows and sheets. Everything appeared, smelled, and felt new. The breakfast please, everyone in our party.

Great small boutique hotel and great staff that was very helpful.

The positive things: Good bed, polite staff, ok cleaning. Not any noise so we got a good night sleep. Close to a nice pub, with friendly staff and locals.
Not so positive: Breakfast not impressive, we went next door for a better meal two times during our stay.
Room was small, water pressure in the shower was low, cold floor, even in the bathroom.
Bugs in the bathroom, but not the biting sort. Reported to the staff so I guess they will handle the insects. Not a deal breaker for us, harmless insects, often connected to humidity.
Will we stay there next time? I guess not, it was a ok stay, but nothing exceptional, except for the pub De Kruyis so we probably will try another hotel next time.

The Breakfast was good and the service great. Pleasant young people at the reception and restaurant.
Our room was on a main crossing, but it was quiet. Lovely small town feel to the place. Super convenient for sightseeing. Safe and free parking was available.

When we got to the "annex building", we were not less than shocked by the difference between the boutique hotel and this annex building which has nothing to do with Hotel statement, but more than a building of rooms. In addition, the room has a glass door directly to the street (used to be an office I believe in the past) where my wife and two kids were afraid all night. If this kind of building was pictured and presented on hotels.com website (which is not, for a good reason) as the "Annex building" no way I would reserve it, definitely not for 183 euro, as I was willing to pay this amount to stay in the unique hotel above the river. When you order a room you also pay for the location and uniqueness of a hotel as should be with a "Boutique" one.
When we reached the hotel reception and claimed the building, the answer was that the hotel is fully booked and there is nothing they can do about it.
I personally think that this is not something I can refer as a fair business and standing behind a statement that it was stated in the reservation itself...
Also,hotels.com did not take responsibility for this misleading (as it appears in their website) and was rejected any request for compensation for the fact that the hotel is not willing to do so. Not less than a bad joke. Stay away !!

I stayed for 5 nights for work. The room was spotlessly clean and a very comfortable bed. There were a few very minor issues: the coffee machine in my room didn’t work. There was no shower gel provided in the bathroom ( only shampoo ), there is no light in the wardrobe and it was very dark so made it very difficult to see clothes when getting ready very early in the morning. A all fridge in the room would have been appreciated as it was very huge when I stayed so any cold drinks or food went warm very quickly when left out on the side.
Some of the restaurant staff were quite abrupt & service was quite slow. I asked for some parmasam cheese for my pasta and it arrived 15 minutes after my pasta had.
There also isn’t anywhere you can sit and eat your own food. I understand that the hotel has its own restaurant but one evening I wanted to eat a quick salad I’d bought from a supermarket (I’d eaten in the resultant 3 nights already) and was asked to leave the premises or eat in my room. It seems a shame that there isn’t a small outside space that guests can enjoy without having to purchase something, especially when it was very hot when I stayed and my room was on the ground floor next to the bike store so I had to keep the curtains closed during day time.
These are all small niggles though!

This property was very convenient for seeing the sites, & areas. Our room was on street level, & it was very noisy. There was also a lot of noise from other guests coming in and out of the building, as that room is right by the street entrance. The room was also very dark. Painted a very dark colour, & because the windows and sliding glass door were on street level, we were not comfortable having the curtains open. For the size of the room, we felt it would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room.
Proximity to the sites really was great. Breakfast was good, staff was friendly.

Beautiful town, wonderful view, the lift wasn't working, but they helped us up steep stairs with our luggage. They gave us ice at the bar whenever we asked. The breakfast was good, sausage, bacon, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, granola, breads, danishes, the most delicious chocolate spread. I liked this area far more than Amsterdam.

The shortage staffs. The service was not to the my expectation. So far met only one of staff Jamie who exceptional good service. She was helpful on what we needed advice. Really appreciated her service.

Few issues, young Spanish waitress extremely rude telling the guests everything was ‘impossible’ you never say that to a guest?! Room was not clean on check in, room key stopped working and the ‘annexe building’ is down the Main Street on the opposite side of the road? So if any issues can’t just pop down to reception after a long day of siteseeing. Staff all helpful other than Spanish waitress, she’s not pleasant at all.
Really nice location to get the train into Amsterdam.

Location is excellent.
Friendly staff

Pretty much all the lights in my room didn’t work - overhead lights didn’t work, bathroom mirror light didn’t work, and the one standing lamp had a flimsy bulb barely hanging on by a wire. The staff were great and Veer did her best to assist, but overall the cost of this room was way too much for the quality of the room. I was given a complimentary apology glass of Prosecco, but next time I’d definitely ask for a partial refund. Location was excellent.

We really enjoyed our river view room here. Most the staff were lovely too and we had a nice welcome on arrival and lots of help when we arrived back late and needed to find somewhere to eat. The room was clean and the bed was comfy! The only issue was that the shower was cold for us one morning but we let the staff know and they were keen to look into this. We would happily return here one day, the location is great for accessing local cycling, traditional streets and of course windmills!!

A really nice, comfortable and beautiful hotel! The service was top notch and the in house restaurant is fantastic.
The only down side was the bathroom was freezing cold.

In love with the surrounding especially the view from your hotel balcony.

Nice view, Good atmosphere. But quite dark and low ventilation inside the room.

We found the air to be overly intoxicating with the chocolate factory on the door step. We chose a room with a view of the river and yes if you look out of the window to the left you have the river. We had a view of the bridge and factory. We also found that between five and six in the morning the road on the bridge gets very busy with traffic and I can only put this down to a shift change with the factory. On the plus side we were given a continental breakfast. The staff were polite and the sheets were changed on the 3rd day The train station is five minutes walk and the town is quite lovely.

I had some trouble with using the phone app to get in , the Lady at the restaurant helped make us a key card. The carpet was really dirty and the air had some kind of strong air freshener smell- we almost couldn't stand it

What a great find in a lovely quiet town only a twenty minute train ride from Amsterdam Central The first thing we noticed about the town was the wonderful smell of chocolate from the nearby Cocoa factory. The hotel sits on the edge of the water above an Italian restaurant. The clean and comfortable room we enjoyed had a balcony with flowers and a lovely view of wind mills and the historic village of Zaanse Schans. The bathroom was spacious, with a nice soaking tub. The simple breakfast consisted of meat, eggs, cheese and bread. The hotel does not have full time staff on the premises, however, the restaurant staff was helpful when assistance was needed and the Hotel responded quickly to email requests. The only negative was the rooms are not well insulated and we could easily hear the people in the room next to us. Note – there was not an elevator and the stairs were steep and narrow and could be a problem for some travelers. To summarize, this is a great hotel in a picturesque small town. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax and be away from the large cities this is a great place to stay.

The room wasn’t very clean shower curtain had mould on it. A good clean would have made it a whole lot better
