Great views from the hotel room & close to restaurants. Breakfast was alright, not that great.

The hotel sits on a lovely bay, walkable to restaurants and bars and a market and souvenir shopping. The room was nice but the ac unit was a little weak. It finally did cool down and it was pleasant. The breakfast was amazing. Great variety and quality. Stayed for 5 nights. Streets are decorated which is fun. Lots of tourist coming during the day and for dinner. Ate twice and Tobos

The room and the rest of the hotel was very clean and it was cleaned every day. They thought about sustainability. The swimming pool was nice and the restaurant was very good. The quality of the food was great, better than other restaurants in the neighbourhood. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. We had a great time here!

Great location right across from the bay.

A very pretty Hotel in a lovely location looking out to sea. We would suggest its worth chosing a room with balcony or facing sea as our room, although a big room, was at the back and a little noisy.

Great hotel, very nice staff. Good breakfast. Pool and sauna is situated on roof with lovely view of bay. The sauna door needs fixed however. Parking is tricky in the local area. Would stay again.

Construction noise was a little loud but the hotel was excellent. Right on the bay with wonderful views. Breakfast choices were anazing with lots of fresh fruit and homemade pasteries. I want to come back!

I love this hotel. Great location by the harbour in Camara de Lobos, fantastic facilities, lovely staff. Been twice now and love room on upper floor with balcony
5.0
Ground floor room was so great with the blinders closed and balcony room open, sleeping to the sound of waves.
They even noticed that I had my birthday while staying there, really kind gesture.
The room was spacious enough, clean. Location is fantastic.
Would stay here again.

This hotel is set in a wonderful, fun district with lots of energy. It is also very clean and seems modern.
However, the air only kind of works and kept resetting to a higher temp throughout our stay. There is also no onsite parking, which was very burdensome.
i don’t think we would be in a hurry to stay here again. But we did get to enjoy a fun area that we probably would not have known about without this hotel.

Very friendly and professional staff, great location, not too busy and too crowded. We fully understood the local construction works at the harbour promenade; although noisy they will make the place even more enjoyable. Cheers to Winston C!

The are importants and noisy construction works on the retaining walls just in front of the hotel. We cannot enjoy our room balcony and we were woke up very early most of the days except Sunday. The bathroom is tiny and basic.

I booked this via Expedia and they helped with ensuring I still had my booking due to very high winds unabling planes to land on the island. Great job!
The hotel was nice, clean and central. The room was modern and had a nice view of the fountain.
The Reception staff in Fisherman’s hotel were outstanding! Helpful, jolly and had time for you. The breakfast was nice but the same daily. It would be nice if they changed it up. The room was also tight for the buffet. Staff very helpful.
The bay was beautiful along with the weather! I am glad I booked with Expedia and had a great holiday.

Pestana properties are our 'go to' properties when travelling in Europe. The staff are always super friendly & helpful. Churchill Bay is a lovely authentic fishing village. The hotel has a lovely roof top restaurant. The food was fresh & very well prepared. We stayed 4 nights & dined at the hotel every night. There are many other options but we enjoyed the convenience & birds eye view of the bay's activies at the sunset.

Lovely staff, great location and clean
The rooms are all of a high standard
Rooms on ground floor are close to the passers by so ask for a room higher up the building

My wife and I stayed at this hotel and from the moment we arrived we absolutely loved it. It is a lovely place so what’s not to love but things could always go wrong well not here - it didn’t. We stayed for 6 nights and were so sad to leave. The room was great, we had a King room 2nd floor with balcony and a extraordinary view to the bay - like waking up and the first thing you can see from the bed is the blue water, just absolutely gorgeous. The other amazing thing that made the whole experience to go another level was the staff. Huge thanks to Joao Caldeira - yes I got their names. They were amazing people. Hands down the best service, beyond customer service- these people made the time there so enjoyable. Joao Freitas at the breakfast bar - amazing guy, superb service. Angel Salazar and Nuno Pinto again beyond amazing guys at the bar and breakfast area. My wife and I always had a blast with them. They would also provide recommendations for nice local places to visit. Last but not least, the ladies at reception, all of them were genuinely nice and helpful in every way. The property is beautiful, small but it got everything you need and we totally loved Camara De Lobos area - only 15 minutes from downtown Funchal but far enough from it to provide a low key night to relax around their small streets with lots of bars and restaurants including the bar at Pestana and they also have a restaurant although we didn’t eat dinner there only breakfast which it was full breakfast! Love

This is our second time staying at the hotel. We liked it so much that we returned for a follow up visit. Like our stay the previous year, the facility was great and the staff was friendly and helpful as before. Our critiques are minor. We were there over the Christmas season and the loudspeaker broadcasting holiday music during the day was right outside our room, meaning that having the window open for fresh air and the sound of the waves was not an option. We did use the sauna and found that the door hinge was broken and we worried about breaking the glass door as we were going in and out. Other than that, we have no other concerns. We would happily stay there again and would recommend (and have recommended) the hotel to other visitors.

Really enjoyed our stay, would recommend to anyone who wanted a chill out time. Great staff very friendly and helpful.
Had balcony room separate from main hotel, but really good, nice view of little fishing village.
Resturant and roof top pool above our room, but no noise from it. Only stayed 5 days but will be back again soon.
Had problem with fridge in room, but resolved quickly.
Great weather for late November.
Nice that it was not busy and near enough to get bus or taxi into Funchal about 15 mins in taxi 16 euros.

The staff were incredibly nice & went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. 12/10 recommend this hotel!

It is an excellent property. Loved waking up to the sound of waves. Loved the sunset and sunrise views. Only thing that I do not recommend is being on the 1st level. At night there can be a lot of foot traffic and can be noisy. Also felt like didn have privacy as people walking by side of my balcony can see through my room. But views were unbeatable and near restaurants and also a grocery store 5 min walk away.

Awesome hotel! Clean and spacious rooms with very helpful staff. The location was great and cabs into Funchal were inexpensive. Even better the hotel helped us purchase Hop on Hop off bus tickets and we would get on nearby and be taken into Funchal. Would recommend especially if you are a Winston Churchill fan.

Our family has just spent a wonderful week here, our first time in Madeira and certainly not our last.
We had a ground floor room facing the bay and the view was beautiful. The roof terrace view at breakfast was wonderful and there was plenty of choice of hot and cold food. As others have said, the hot food could have been a bit hotter. The coffee was delicious, we opted for Americanos instead of the coffee that is poured for you. There were lots of other coffee options too. A special thanks to Emmanuel who served us with a smile every morning and is definitely an asset to the Pestana team.
We always managed to get a sun bed by the pool whenever we wanted and if you’re there at the right time you could be offered complimentary sparkling wine ☺️
We took a few trips (sunset mountain hike, canyoning and a trip to the Valley of the Nuns). These were booked through Viator and even though the pick up was meant to be from Funchal, they were all happy to pick up from our hotel. We got the bus into Funchal most days (ask at reception for the bus timetable) and often got a Bolt back which only worked out at 10 Euros a trip.
To sum it up….a friendly, clean hotel with an amazing view!

It’s a lovely hotel, all the staff are really friendly and helpful.
Never been to Madeira before, had a day in Funchal, so was glad not to be staying in the capital, which is still easily accessible by bus or taxi.
Camara de Lobos had enough restaurant to choice from, so ate in the town 6 out of our 7 night stay.
We had 1st floor room with terrace, so had a great view, same view from the restaurant or swimming pool, so when not exploring the island didn’t need to search for anywhere else to sit, relax and drink in the view.
The hotel rooms are clean and comfortable, the toiletries provided are of good quality. The breakfast is exceptional. Had 1 dinner in the hotel and that was lovely too.
I would highly recommend this hotel.

This may be the most favorite hotel that I have ever visited. The staff were fabulous, the rooms clean and comfortable with a beautiful view, and from them we could hear the lovely sounds of gently lapping waves. We loved sitting on our balcony with a glass of wine, and soaking up the sounds and sights of our surroundings. The rooftop restaurant was excellent, and the breakfast buffet and setting was perfect. I would recommend paying the extra for a second story balcony, which separates you from the ground level with the people walking by. The location is perfect for exploring the local restaurants and shops. We loved the feeling that there were very few tourists, and had a wonderful time exploring the local specialties in various street side and marina based restaurants. We toured the island with a local guide and loved all of it, but loved Camara do Lobos the most. The only downside, and it is a small one, is that the locals seem to walk by in loud voices in the middle of the night, but it is brief. I wish we could have stayed longer, but very much hope to go back.
