Great location. They gave me a "Basel Card", which you could use on Public Transport for free.

Long way up the stairs. The hotel looks old and shows signs of its age. Had shared facilities, OK, as long you are not in a hurry. Only 1 shower on the floor. It is a Budget Hotel

Only thing going for this hotel is location.

Keep your receipts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went out for the day to Mount Rigi and only got back late. There was a note on my door in Swiss (didn't understand as I'm from the UK). Went the restaurant to be told I had stayed two nights and only paid for one. The owners asked for proof and even followed me to the room to see this. Proof given. The next morning one of the staff knocked at my door at 09.30 to see if I had left. What an insult after showing proof that I paid the night previously. No heating in the mornings. Rooms really cold. Very very noisy hotel from the restaurant guests, some even smoking in the hallway and having to walk passed them to get to my room. The noise from the kitchen and restaurant go on until at least midnight and start back again at 7am, so if you expect a lie in, you won't get one. Overall, an appalling stay.

I was happy that my room was ready early for check-in. The check-in process was efficient and quick. Great location, right in the city centre. Very good connection to public transport. Very clean.

The room was very basic, as expected. No wifi was available. The room is very poorly isolated, and it was very noisy until late in the evening and early morning (people talking very loud in the corridors, a lot of noise coming from the restaurant kitchen downstairs, as well as noise from the outside).

It's very central!

Staff was very unhelpful, even coercive, shouting me. There is no dedicated reception and you have to go to the first floor to speak to anyone. The rooms are uninsulated I could hear the neighbors TV and theywhere caughing all the time. The hotel sign was so bright I could not sleep and the bed was so old a screw fell out. The toilet smelled of cigaretts.

They rent a couple of rooms on top floor in the restaurant. It is a bit youth hostel kind of thing.

The rooms are clean.

Bathrooms outside of rooms, need keys to use them.

Everything was easy and friendly and fit for me and my friend's purposes and needs - somewhere inexpensive to stay to sleep and wash etc. while we attended a conference nearby. It was basic, spartan but very clean. Towels being changed daily was a nice surprise. Bed was reasonably firm (I do not like soft beds!). Value for money in an otherwise expensive city was excellent.

Nothing to really dislike, though I'm glad there did not seem to be many other guests, or, with 8 rooms on the landing, using the (spotlessly clean) shared toilet and shower room could have been a problem for timing if it had been busier. A key for each guest with 2 in a shared room would have been useful.

All the basics, very clean and tidy, and good old fashioned hospitality in the city center near the major museums and other sites around the corner

The facilities in the room had shared sockets so you had to choose between the lamp or the TV. But as the TV didn't work it wasn't much of a problem..

Nice stay in central Basel

Great location, great view from my room at 8th floor facing the Christmas Market and very nice stuff. The room is basic but clean and overall a great deal for a stay in central Basel. The Basel card they offer for free public transport and a few museums is a useful gift. It was easy to find, the name is written with large letters on a building facing the street, just enter the building and ask (check in in second floor restaurant) It is a bit noisy due to trams but can’t have a central street view and silence too. I would stay here again.

Doesn't make you feel a guest

It was quiet, but because I was the only guest I think

No toilet and bad in room, poor internet, cold, the whole room was not inviting at all. It didn't make me feel I was a guest but just a way of making money. I will definitely not return. I am a regular guest of budget hotels in Germany, Italy, Switzerland. This was the worst one.

Good to know in advance that the hotel is above a restaurant with the same entrance.

Haha, the church bells went off at 7 in the morning. Luckily I had to get up anyway.
