Clean but with money-focused hosts.

The room was clean. The gentleman they leave in charge, Sr. Martin, is the highlight of the place. Kind, helpful and present.

The owners are never there, the internet never worked in two days, the room had no water on the second night & morning, we called the owner who told us he knew it would happen but apparently never thought to tell us, their tour to lake Paron is a sham, the owner charged 100pen per person for a “tour” then hired a taxi, took half the money and left. The room was not finished, with holes instead of windows in the bathroom and above the door so that the sounds from the common area came right through. It’s a 650m walk from the centre. The owner tried to charge us more than booking price, then haggled over currency conversion. The toilet tank never filled up correctly. The room was clean and we were too exhausted to move, which is the only reason we stayed. I’m sharing this because booking.com ratings are rarely this wrong about a place.

The perfect base for exploring the northern Cordilera Blanca.

Yoly’s house was fantastic, the room and facilities were exceptionally clean and comfortable. Yoly is an amazing host and made us feel very welcome and at home. I highly recommend staying here :)

Exceptional

Really nice and clean accommodation, Yoly and her family are still cleaning something and try you to feel as much comfortable as it's possible. Also Yolly went with me to the dentist when I had problem with my tooth and it recommended me my mother when I was small child. Thank you very much!

Location is ok, as it's a very small town. Rooms are good, very clean and spacious. Yoly is very kind and helped us with all information we needed. Breakfast is ok,

The shower wasn't good. I had to choose, little hot water or just warm/could water. The internet went down and we had no WIFI for 2 days.

I highly recommend Yoly’s, and a visit to Caraz - an excellent place to base oneself for trekking.

I had a quiet, clean and comfortable room. The staff was very pleasant, and the location was just a short walk uphill from the plaza.

One of my worst hotel experiences. Just awful.

Not much

-It's a building site. There is loud noise 8am to 6pm. -They double booked my room. That's ok, everyone makes mistakes. What I take exception to is that they removed all my possessions while I was out and put them in another room. I found this very intrusive. They basically decided to kick me out of my room without asking. To make things worse, they put my in a room shared with a stranger! I demanded my money back and went to find another hotel -The shower is very bad -It wasn't a real ensuite, the bathroom was across the hallway from the bedroom - The wifi was bad

Cute residence. small room. Kind family that lives there. Place can be noisy from construction.

Clean, staff was friendly, cute little Terrace. Solar shower provided warm water. English speaking. Clean.

Staff was a bit overbearing. Felt like staying with a family in a home stay. Could not use kitchen. Plates, utensils, or hot water for tea provided with permission only. Downstairs room has no direct sunlight, poor internet connection, no tv, and you can hear footsteps above you.

Yoly is fantastic and able to provide good information to do anything in the area. her husband helped book taxi (at a premium expense of S.300) to Laguna Paron. she was arranging bikes down Canon de Paton, but we ran out of time

Yoly and her husband were really friendly and helpful during my stay. Yoly also speaks really good English which was a big plus with my broken Spanish ;). The room was spacious, comfy and clean

It was really nice to stay in the cute village of caraz instead of huraz! Staff was really kind and took the time to explain to us everything we needed to know from the activities we could do!

Very good

- Yoly speaks good english (not very common in Caraz) and is very friendly - Yoly’s husband organizes many tours which is very convenient and we did a Laguna Paraz with them - Room was clean - Nice terrace - Water in the shower was always hot - Excellent wifi - Breakfast (extra charge) was good and filling (eggs, bread, juice, coffee with milk, butter, jam) - Surprisingly quiet at night

- Check-in was a bit unusual (we were not allowed to enter the property until the owner came + we had to message a specific number (Yoly’s) which was provided to us at the door and let owner know that we are there) - Our room was not ready when we arrived and they seemed to have no idea that we were supposed to come at all (we did book the same day when staying over) - Owners knocked on our door 2 nights in a row (around 9 pm) asking for payment because we extended our stay but we’ve never experienced this kind of approach so far during our travels (normally this is done either right after the extension of the stay or after the check-out) - TV in the room only had Spanish channels and the signal was not great - Ongoing constructions so it can be noisy during the day

Nice place, great service.

Yoly is a very nice and pleasant guestlady. She is very informative on all activities and highlights in the surroundings of Caraz and has good connections to make arrangements. She speaks very good English, which was great as our Spanish is rudimentary. Realy great was that she took much effort to send the eReader to our new place, after having that left under a pillow. We had our own terras in front of our room door with a view on the mountains and sheltered against the rains. Yoly's house is designed very stylish and therefore a pleasant place to relax.

The terras was also used to dry the laundry which gave a somewhat less private feeling.

Had the best time staying here, the owners are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the town and tours/trekking/things to do nearby. Made my stay in Caraz unforgettable, would love to visit again soon! Stayed in a private room with a personal bathroom, both in great conditions for a great price.

Very clean house in a good location

Yoly's House is a nice and very clean hostel 600 m from the Plaze de Armas in Caraz. The staff is super-friendly, the view from the upper level terrace just great. -Tours can be organized easily. Private bathrooms are well equipped and clean, hot water is available all the time. Highly recommended !

No wifi in bedroom - only worked in common area We booked 2 separate rooms on booking.com (a single and a twin) but on arrival we were onpy given 1 room which slept 3 people. No toilet our side of hostel - had to cross courtyard to get to the toilet.

The owners were very nice to is, the room was clean and the bathroom too, they gave us a room with a balcony and it had a nice view and they even borrowed us the refrigerator to put some of our food
