The room was nicely decorated and the bed was comfy.
Regarding the problems below, we tried contacting the hotel following our stay to try to resolve the issues but they proceeded to ignore all our messages.
- The reception and restaurant was being renovated which meant there was constantly dust in the lobby and up the stairs. This caused a possible slip hazard as well as looking unsightly. Even though you notified us of this the day before arrival, this was far too late as we would not have been able to cancel or find other accommodation at such late notice.
- When we arrived, our room had dusty footprints in it (I assume from the dust downstairs).
- There was construction going on close to the pool and the sun loungers were not laid out meaning the pool looked nothing like the pictures advertised. We purposely booked a place with a pool and were unable to use it for this reason. There were also workmen there at most times and so I especially did not feel comfortable enough to use it.
- There were multiple bugs in our room throughout our stay. We must have killed upwards of 15 bugs over the 2 nights. When we looked into what they were, we think they may have been mini cockroaches. This caused us to question the cleanliness of the room and made us feel extremely uncomfortable.
- Even though the hotel was advertised with Wi-Fi, we were not given a password which meant we had to use our own data throughout our stay.
- The bathroom flooded badly every time we used the shower/bath. This meant that we had to deal with water all over the bathroom floor until it dried each time.
- Both nights, a group of men sat outside in the patio area having food and playing loud music. This was a little disturbing.
- The renovation work started at 7am, meaning that we were woken extremely early to the sound of banging and drilling - again not making for a relaxing stay.
- One of the plug sockets was faulty meaning that we had to keep the plug pushed in using the kettle. It kept making noises which made us feel concerned for the safety of it.
We were looking forward to staying in a 5 star hotel and we’re extremely disappointed that we had nowhere near a 5 star experience.
