No Bar, or restaurant.. stained carpet.. old spring mattress.. won't be staying again

Housekeeping walked in to room and woke me up nearly 3 hours before check out, check in was a shambles, reception staff just expected me to know where my room was, noisy machinery outside bedroom window, I only booked late to save driving while tired, I drove home in the morning more tired than I was the night before

We couldn’t get the heat turned down, had windows open all the time. Breakfast was all cold foods, no butter for 3 days, scones were stale, had to ask for bread, tea, and to fix coffee machine, general appearance of the hotel was shabby.
The one saving grace, a young lady receptionist, Leah, who was extremely warm, welcoming and helpful.

The price should have been a good warning to me. A very tired hotel. Neither the restaurant nor bar is open. Not good enough for a hotel which is not centrally located.
Continental breakfast offering only
3.5
Not what it said on the tin, tired hotel no facilities
Breakfast poor
Overpriced hotel
room good though

Needs to be very transparent that there is no restaurant anymore. This is inconvenient. As mentioned by someone else i also got one of the rooms next to the extremely noisy machinery next to the left of the main building. Couldn't sleep because of that.

Overnight stop and picked hotel at random. On arrival found old school BW which was, probably, a family run hotel back in the day. Lots of character, e.g. the breakfast room that was a vaulted ballroom/function room overlooking the garden, with original features and spotlessly clean and tidy. This is not a cut and paste could be anywhere chain hotel and would happily use again, also was remarkably good value for bed and breakfast.

Lovely 4 day break away. Room nice and clean and staff very friendly. Would recommend for short stays. No cooked food available- continental breakfast only

Very nice hotel
In process of refurbishing very quiet great location to walk into town
Exceptional clean
3.5
The only downpoint was the Bar and restaurant were closed at 8.20 pm- had they been open we would have used both.
3.5
Lower rating as shower wasnt warm the hotel staff were made aware
3.5
The hotel itself was good and staff friendly but it is a shame that there was no evening meal or bar available but having said that…..
The continental breakfast for the price is appalling. Very little choice and several people were complaining about it. I certainly wouldn’t be doing that again or recommending it
3.5
Disappointed no food or beer served
3.5
Good value, convenient location, helpful staff, tired room which was dated and smelly.
Biggest issue the mattress was very uncomfortable and needs replacing!
3.5
When we entered our room it was far too hot even when window was open, but reception staff came with remote control to adjust temperature. We knew that there wasn’t a restaurant so we walked into town and decided to buy some picnic food and had a picnic in the hotel grounds. The breakfast was adequate, staff helpful, room, small but ok and bed comfortable, and for the price good value.

Great for a stopover to break a long journey

Clean room, comfortable bed. Shower was really good, but the shower curtain not. It’s tacky these days.
Dead flower baskets outside need to be removed. The exterior really needs a refurbishment.
It worked well overall given the price point we and came out alive!
3.5
Breakfast only continental.
Room facilities were good, although bed slightly uncomfortable, the bathroom was quite small.
3.5
Comfortable and clean rooms with normal room fascilities. The staff are excellent.
There is NO bar and NO restarant for food except for a continental breakfast. The website says there is a bar and restaurant but they have been closed for a couple of years apparently.
3.5
The place was excellent. Friendly, helpful staff full of beautiful people. 15 minutes from Stone Hinge. Andover is a friendly small town with great local pubs. Everyone we met were extremely hospitable. Would definitely return and recommend!
3.5
Very quite friendly hotel

They cancelled our booking.

Facade of hotel a little off putting ..needs some care and attention . But inside pleasantly surprised ..does need a refurb especially bathrooms. But room clean and comfortable and staff welcoming. Enjoyed my stay
3.5
The room itself was large, comfortable and clean, although a little tired and in need of some redecoration. The bathroom initially looked off-putting, with some flaking paint, an older style of shower curtain rather than screen, however the shower itself proved to be excellent. Fiddly to get to temperature, but plenty of consistent water pressure.
The biggest problem with the hotel is the lack of the advertised restaurant. When checking in, we asked if we needed to book for the restaurant that evening, only to be told that the restaurant was closed, in a dismissive tone indicating that we should obviously have known that - despite the fact that their own web site and Expedia both list the restaurant as one of the hotel facilities and even then checking in sheet I'd just signed had the restaurant opening hours. When I queried further, we were treated to the member of staff's personal, political views on the government, the pandemic and along the way told that the restaurant had been closed since the start of the first Covid lockdown. Not what I'd expect as a response in any sense.
I have to say all other staff we encountered during our stay were polite, helpful and professional, but this first individual was none of these.

It was a good location for us, however disappointed that we did not know there was no restaurant in the evening so we had to drive into town, this would have made a difference to us booking this location as it is out of town. Everything else was fine and a good breakfast. We do understand as all hospitality having problems with staff.

Very disappointed. Where do I start ok so entering the worn out hotel which looked like it was stuck in the 70’s.
Checked in to hotel which was probably the best part of my stay, all good.
Got to my room after walking down numerous corridors with different odours which some smelt like bleach.
Entering my room all seemed ok until I saw my bed which had blood on it GREAT, called reception got that replaced. Then got a shower which felt like a water cannon firing at me but can live with that.
Go to brush teeth in basin sinks blocked.
Finally got sorted thought I’d get ready to go get something to eat four items on menu hmm ok will go out on leaving open window and turn radiator off put air con on as it was pretty hot. Got back to room about 2 hrs later still hot sweated all night bearing in mind this is winter so should be fairly mild.
5 o’clock in morning wake up to tinging it’s the water pipes that carried on till 6:30.
7:00 o’clock came got up thought I’d go get breakfast how bad can that be well I like my food but the breakfast was bland I gave up left it and decided to leave and got to my job I was booked on.
Never again will I stay here for £89 they should be paying me.

Happy that we were on the ground floor and the bar was open, not happy with the executive room we had, needed refurb and no extra facilities like tissues, individual shower gels or body lotions. Hot water was dangerously hot when it eventually came through.
3.5
Welcome was warm. I was disappointed to learn that an evening meal wasn't available but the young lady on reception was very well informed regarding local restaurants and supplied me with a printed list. Very heavy rain so I was soaked on the short walk back to the hotel. Free WiFi was good. Breakfast bacon & sausage could have been cooked more but fried eggs, mushrooms & beans were good. Toaster needed setting up correctly as it took 3 passes to get the bread brown.

Been here several times over the years and never disappointed. Friendly, spacious, clean and with excellent service by friendly and very helpful staff. Been to other hotels in this area too but this is one of the best and by far the most convenient.

Functional hotel. Suited us for what we wanted to do in Andover
3.5
Property is run down and very overgrown outside. Slept okay but the walls are very thin and you can hear everything from the rooms next to you and in the corridor. Breakfast was nice, good variety - cereals, pastry, yoghurts, spreads and cooked breakfast
3.5
Good value. Excellent staff. Excellent breakfast
3.5
This is a very basic hotel not one for any kind of luxury experience. Beds are okay pillows are quite flat, toilet is positioned so close to the radiator that you can burn yourself. The room was a bit dustie I had to clean webs from the side of the drawers. The bathroom radiator leaked when they turned them off. Overall it's not the best but it's affordable and okay for 2 nights. Staff are nice and the WiFi is good also.
3.5
Location of hotel is good. Disappointing that there was no draft lager during our 7 night stay.
3.5
Blunt reception on booking in. No food available at hotel and chi’s fact not advertised before we got there. Had to put wet motorcycle gear on again to go and find a restaurant/pub. Exterior bins overflowing, rubbish everywhere. Our room on ground floor. Smokers out at 01.30, loud talking, swearing and smoke entering room. Designated smoking area required away from building.
Second stay here in 2 years, first time just as bad, won’t be back again
3.5
The hotel looks shabby and run down from the outside and makes you regret booking the hotel from the moment you pull in to the carpark.
The reception area poorly decorated and the whole hotel suffers with worn carpets, wires hanging out the ceiling where lights have been removed, paint (or something) spilt and splashed on the carpets and radiators.
The beds old and in need of being replaced. Wifi didn't work. Tried to call reception, picked up the the phone and the receiver came off in my hands which is when i realised that was broken.
cereals for breakfast was the variety packs of rice crispies only.
However, plus points - staff were friendly and helpful and the cooked breakfast was good.
3.5
In a very quiet area with some good walks just next to the property.
Bathroom very outdated with a shower difficult to adjust.
3.5
Great rooms in the main building, spacious, well equipped and quiet. On arrival was told there was no chef! As I was working all day the last thing I wanted to have to do was go out again to eat. However, they did provide plates and cutlery for delivered take-aways. Fast WiFi. Free on site parking. Excellent breakfast on the day of departure
3.5
The hotel itself is tired and in need of upgrading. We stayed in the garden rooms a block off the main hotel. The overwhelming smell of damp hit as soon as we walked in the building. Our room was a good size, although after finding many many hairs in the bathroom, we did not look too closely at the cleanliness of the rest of the room for fear of what we may find. We gave feed back to the receptionist, who apologised but made no offer of how the stay could be put right for us. Breakfast was a buffet breakfast which surprised me in the current Covid climate although all legal restrictions have been lifted, the fact of a dining room full of people touching the same lids and utensils was a surprise. So with the cleanliness of our room and many hands touching the breakfast, we opted for just for toast. We were only booked in for 1 night, if it was anymore we would have left.
