Great location !
7.0 / 10.0
The location was great, just minutes away by car from Volcano National Park.
The kitchen was stocked with enough cutlery, plates, and glasses for us.
At the time that we booked this property in February, it was misrepresented as a 1 BR apartment, it's actually a studio. The listing has since been corrected.
The water from the taps is not potable (it's supplied from a rain water cistern), this isn't mentioned in the property description. The owner supplied a 5-gallon container of drinking water.
The fuse blew for the zone that covered 1 wall (the one with the TV and portable heater) the first night we were there. Nobody came out to reset it until the 3rd day and only after I had texted every day asking when someone would come out to fix it.
Communication from the owner could have been better. She should have provided updates without my prompting. I had also requested more hangers (there were only 2 when we arrived) and they were promised for that evening. There was nothing when we got back from dinner and no word as to when we would get them until I texted again.
There are 2 heating units in the apartment, one propane and the other electric. Because the outlet had no electricity, we weren't sure which one to use. Some instructions would have been nice.
The comforter on the bed is too heavy. As previous reviews noted, having the option to use a blanket or a lighter comforter would be nice. My husband opened the window at night so he could be comfortable. Then we had to turn on the heat in the morning, which was rather wasteful.
The sofa is extremely uncomfortable and should be replaced.

The location in the woods was nice
We had to struggle to get the room key out of a box. Nobody was there to help, only by telephone.

The location was great. The house was built in the rainforest which is special.
The sofa bed looks old and not clean. The TV is too old with poor pixel.
