It sleeps up to 15 guests, has a seasonal pool, and just outside of Strasburg. Family and friends are welcome!
The Space:
***Please note: the hot tub in the pool area is not operational; therefore, it is not listed anywhere as an amenity. Do not reserve our home in hopes of being able to use a hot tub.***

Our home is located in between Tom's Brook and Strasburg Virginia. The main floor of the home opens to the foyer, with the dining room and living room to your right, and another living space with additional bedroom to your left. The dining room has a large table with seating for six. Just off the dining room is the living room with Roku TV, two queen pullout sleeper sofas, two armchairs, and a workspace with desk and chair. The full kitchen is located behind the dining room, and is fully stocked with pots, pans, silverware, dishes, and all kitchen appliances.
To the left of the stairs from the main entrance is a living area with a small pullout futon that sleeps one, and the bedroom on the main floor. The main floor bedroom has two bunk beds, a king bed, large walk-in closet, and foosball/game table. There are also two full bathrooms with showers on the main floor. Note: fireplace is decorative only due to liability reasons.
Upstairs there are two additional bedrooms. The first bedroom has a queen bed, a king bed, and a 58" Roku TV. The second upstairs bedroom has a King bed. There are no bathrooms on the second floor.
Behind the house is the pool and outdoor seating area.
Free wifi, pet friendly with fee.
NOTE: we have weekly maintenance and cleaning performed on our pool. The pool services do not take long and will not disrupt your stay. We will need access to the yard/pool area if you stay with us on service day. Thanks for understanding!
Guest Access:
Guests will have full and private access to the main home. Guests will park on the right side of the driveway.
All cancellations due to weather are subject to our cancellation policy. There can be unpredictable winter weather in the Shenandoah Valley, which can make traversing roads and accessing homes challenging. We recommend purchasing traveler's insurance if you are concerned that your vehicle might not be able to traverse snowy roads during inclement weather and you may have to cancel.
The Neighborhood:
Our home is located 1.8 miles from Tom's Brook, VA, and 3.8 miles from historical Strasburg, VA. We are 17 miles northwest of Skyline Caverns, 22 minutes drive to Elizabeth Furnace Recreation Area, and about an hour north of the Luray Caverns and main entrance to the Shenandoah National Forest.
Getting Around:
This home is located in a rural area of Virginia, so driving is necessary.
Other Things to Note:
We require a signed rental agreement and for guest to be 25 years of age to book.
If you notify us of your intent to cancel prior to the lapse of the free cancellation period, we will return 97% of your payment. The other 3% will already have been collected by the credit card processing company, and we have no way to return that portion of the payment.
Cell service and wifi can be "in and out" due to the rural location of the home. This is a home located in a rural area of the Shenandoah. While great restaurants, shopping, and convenience stores are located only five minutes away, please know that you might encounter all of the great wildlife that lives in the Shenandoah Valley while staying at our home! This could include deer, bears, raccoons, possums, spiders, bugs, snakes, owls and if you're really lucky, even the neighbor's horse! We absolutely love this about our home, but if you're a person who thinks that country-living and the rural experience might not be what you're looking for, we don't recommend booking :)
We require a $50 pet fee for all pets, along with a signed rental agreement.
We are a pet friendly home. Pets must be crated when they are left unattended in the home. We do not allow pets on furniture or beds, and all waste must be cleaned up from the yard. All pets require a non-refundable pet fee. If there is evidence of pet hair on the furniture, excess hair in the home, stains, or waste found in the yard or home, you will be charged the cost to clean this. In the event that a security deposit is collected, we will retain all or part of the security deposit to cover any costs associated with additional cleaning due to pets.
Interaction with Guests:
We like to give our guests privacy, so we offer contact-free check-in via a digital door code. Just know that we are only a quick phone call away should ever the need arise!

We had a really great time, just a check in process I have a little complain about, I wish they would had let me know about the check in process ahead of time and not make me fill out forms when i got to the property.

Nice place. Ceiling fan is a bit low, if you're 6ft watch out! Room with bunk beds was a bit warm, other rooms stayed cool. Pool was great, unfortunately the hot tub was full of slime. There was a gas smell when we used the stove, filled the whole house, I own a gas stove and I can say this is unusual.

Yard seemed neglected, broken gate to pool, unclean garbage cans at back door smelly and lots of flies that got into house
Noisy location, directly on busy road
We left early will not rent again

The property's location exudes an exquisite beauty that creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. However, we encountered a lack of clear communication regarding the check-in process upon our arrival. Our disappointment was further amplified when we discovered that the pool and hot tub were unavailable for use. Our greatest concern, however, was the inability to utilize the kitchen for the food we had purchased to prepare for our large family, a measure we took to reduce costs during our trip. Our efforts were thwarted as the preheating of the oven and the use of the stove burners released a strong smell of propane gas, making it impossible to cook our meals. Our attempts to mitigate this danger by opening doors and windows were ineffective, and we sought assistance from the contracted property manager. Despite his presence, the issue persisted, leading to a hazardous situation that was not handled appropriately. Our familiarity with propane appliances indicates that there is a problem with the stove connection, which needs urgent attention. We requested reimbursement for the food we had to dispose of due to the inability to cook, but our request was denied. We would not have purchased the food if we had known that we could not prepare it. Furthermore, our outdoor relaxation was interrupted by the unexpected arrival of landscapers, without any prior notification. We urge you to address these concerns to ensure the safety and satisfaction of your guests.

Our stay at the property was a positive experience. The beds slept well, the bathrooms are beautifully updated, and the house is unique.

The home is unique and in a great location, but not as expected and was overpriced for the weekend we stayed. We were disappointed and relayed these concerns before posting this. We had several options for vacation rentals in the DC area. We looked at homes similarly priced that had 5-6 BRs and absolutely stunning kitchens. We opted for a smaller home because the hot tub was the single amenity we had to have. When someone called me before checking in and asked if we had any questions, I said the hot tub had to work and wanted assurances. She reported that it had been serviced the day before and was in working condition. This could not be true since the water was 50 degrees, dirty and smelly. There were old clothes near the hot tub and red solo cup in the filter chamber. While we appreciated the attempt to troubleshoot over the phone, that didn’t work and they did not find anyone to service it. There was no apology whatsoever. For cleanliness, the floors in some rooms had not been swept. There were items and garbage from previous guests left under the bed. As mentioned, used clothing was sitting next to the steps of the hot tub that had not been picked up, and sides of the hot tub were falling off/laying round. There were several bugs found on the main floor. We had issues with things working properly. It was nearly impossible to flush the two toilets, even if very little or no toilet paper was inside. It was poor plumbing, and we realize there were signs of that nature, but it was extremely inconvenient. The stovetop malfunctioned - the ignitors would not turn off and the house would smell like gas. I texted the manager for assistance, but this issue made cooking challenging. The listing for the house was accurate, although a bit deceiving. The listing showed photos of the fireplace-even enhanced the amenity! The listing did not mention anything related to quiet hours at 10 pm. I received an email on New Years Eve telling me to not have guests or parties and to be quiet at 10, which I found offensive. Finally, the doorway in the bathroom leading to the outdoors was torn out. Given our dissatisfaction, we asked for a refund. Given that our no.one priority of having a hot tub was noted and not addressed, and the fact that advertising was misleading, we thought it reasonable. They offered a $300 credit for a future stay, but the condition of this house gave us no confidence that we would be satisfied in one of their other properties.
