About this cabin rental

A beautiful cabin in the woods overlooking Arrowhead Provincial Park and the Big East River. Come enjoy the peace and quiet of the River House. Enjoy breathtaking views at the outdoor fire pit, or snuggle up next to the stove for a movie or board game. Minutes from downtown Huntsville and Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area, very close to snowmobile trails with lots of parking for trailers. Arrowhead Provincial Park is famous for its Fire And Ice torchlit skating trails as well as snow-shoeing and cross country skiing. We provide our commercial pass for Ontario Parks which is good for both Arrowhead and Algonquin. Bunkies are not heated or insulated and are not available outside May-October. 1 bunkie has a queen sized bed, 1 bunkie has two twin beds with a tv and video games. ***We do not have laundry services onsite. Guest will need to provide their own sheets, pillow cases and towels.***

We really enjoyed our down time at this cabin. The covered porch is amazing when the weather doesn't cooperate. You can still enjoy the river and the property outside. There are quite a few different seating areas to enjoy the sun or shade any time of day. Also being close to the town while feeling away was really nice. Thanks Josh.

My wife and I rented this cottage as a get away for my wife’s birthday. Perfect spot on the river across from Arrowhead. Relaxed by the fire. The cottage was very clean and stocked with everything thing you would need to cook meals. Restaurants are close as well if you don’t feel like cooking. We will definitely come back whenever we want to get away from the city!!

Great location close to Arrowhead Park. Cabin was well suited to our group with everything we needed. We stayed during the winter so only took advantage of the main cabin but the two bunkies looked great for warmer weather stays and I’m guessing the river and boats would be fun in the summer.

My husband and I rented this cottage as a weekend getaway for our anniversary. The cottage was very clean and pretty much everything you needed for a relaxing time. Cottage is close to restaurants and amenities and neighbours are just far enough away to have privacy

We loved the peacefulness of the river being right there. I loved that downtown was so close. But it felt like being faraway. Only problem with our age was all the stairs. Our one pet had to be carried up. Which was hard to do. Other then that awesome stay. Loved it

The place was perfect for what we were looking for! 6 of us had an excellent getaway including skating at Arrowhead, and enjoyed winding down with the fire and the special touches and activities provided by the host!

Wonderful stay. Very clean. Kitchen was very will stocked- everything we needed for cooking. Cosy and warm. Close to Arrowhead Provincial Park. Skating and hiking. Josh was great at communicating and letting us know what we needed to know regarding rental. Highly recommend this stay!

5 stars all around! We had a fantastic stay at Josh’s cabin. The check-in process was easy, the cottage itself was cozy, well equipped, and located in a perfect area! We used the Ontario Parks Pass and did some x-country skiing and snow shoeing next door at Arrowhead. Downtown Huntsville is close by if you want to grab a bite to eat or do a little bit of local shopping. Lots to do and see. Josh is a great host and made sure everything on our end was going well. We’ll be sure to visit again!

My experience with Vrbo was exceptional. Josh, the host, was incredibly responsive and kind, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The property itself was a true gem - the beautiful site offered breathtaking scenery and views. The cleanliness of the place was impeccable, and the game room kept the kids entertained throughout our stay. One of the highlights for us was the fire pit. My mom, in particular, had an amazing time by the fire pit, gazing at the countless stars in the night sky. It was a memorable experience that added to the overall charm of the property. There were also many sauce options available, which added a delightful touch to our meals. Although we did encounter a minor issue with the water quality, it didn’t overshadow the great time we had during our stay. In summary, our experience was fantastic, and I highly recommend this property for anyone seeking a beautiful, peaceful getaway.

The Big East River House is truly a home away from home when staying in Huntsville, Ontario. The Dennings are exceptional hosts, who are quick to reply to any questions you may have about their property or nearby amenities. They provide all you need and more to make your stay exceptional. Coffe maker, water filter, cozy blankets, cleaning supplies, kayaks, all the utensils, mugs, plates, condiments you'll need, seating to enjoy all the pretty views, and a variety of bedrooms/sleeping arrangements. And I can't forget to mention how amazing it is that River House is pet friendly! What an added bonus it is to be able to bring your dog(s) to enjoy this nature escape. Seriously, no details to make your stay the absolute best have been over looked! And the location! You are right on the Big East River and less than a 5 min drive to Arrowhead PP, a 35ish min drive to Oxtongue, and Algonquin PP and Limberlost Forest as well. I loved being nestled in this spectacular spot! My stay here, at River House, is one that I will never forget. I made amazing new memories thanks to this place. The Dennings have a legitimate slice of heaven here and I'm so thankful I was able to share in it. I would 100%, without a doubt, stay here again. Now, stop reading this review and hurry up to book your stay!!

this is a great property. would rent again. The view of the little bend in the river is BEAUTIFUL and you can see arrowhead park on the other side. the only thing to remember is that if you are a weak swimmer the current just off the dock is VERY fast. you have to swim hard just to avoid being swept downstream.

Peaceful, cozy cabin in the woods looking out at a beautiful river. Comfortable couch and bed, well equiped kitchen and i felt at home right away. Host Josh and was very helpful and felt more like a freind by the end of my stay. Minutes away from everything you could need! First of all this place is stunning, the location and the area the cabin is overlooking. Five stars for everything, cleanliness is top notch. Arrowhead provincial park is just there. I would recommend this place and will be coming back for sure!

I can not say enough good things about this place. It gives you true cabin feels. So clean and well decorated, it is equipped with everything you need. The location is fabulous being right on the river and with the park being right across the way. It was the perfect winter escape. We'll definitely be checking it out in the summer as well. Lastly, the Host was great! Very quick to respond and very helpful with providing info with fun things to do in the area. You will not be disappointed staying here!!
