About this apartment rental
On the seafront of Portoscuso overlooks a charming penthouse with sea view recently renovated and finely furnished.
Thanks to its strategic position, the use of the machine is not necessary. The penthouse is in fact very close to the tourist port and the historic center, easily reachable on foot, as well as to the commercial port of Portovesme from where ferries leave for the Island of San Pietro. Near the house there are numerous restaurants and bars, the bank, supermarkets and the civic market where you can buy excellent typical Sardinian gastronomy products.
The sandy beach of Portopaglietto is about 2 km away, La Caletta beach 10 minutes on foot.
Externally the penthouse has a beautiful 30 sq m terrace, partly covered, where you can relax and have meals with an enchanting view of the sea.
Internally the attic is composed of: living room with kitchenette, two double bedrooms, one with sea view, a bathroom with shower. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning and wi-fi internet connection.
The penthouse is also equipped with a parking space in a private area adjacent to the entrance gate.
The town of Portoscuso, for its strategic position in the center of the Sulcis Iglesiente, between the islands of San Pietro and that of Sant'Antioco, is the ideal base for visiting a corner of Sardinia still little known and far from tourist flows and for live an unforgettable holiday in the heart of South West Sardinia.

Little appartment, located close to the sea.
Portoscuro is a nice town, but neighbour to a major industrial site, which seemed partly shut down. There are a few restaurants in the town. Ferry to Carloforte and enjoy the town on the other side of the sound.

We enjoyed our 5 day stay at Nicolas and Rita’s house. We were visiting our son who was in school at Kite Beach. Their house was a great central location for exploring the west coast, the islands to the south and Cagliari. We ate in twice and kitchen was well-appointed. Village is quiet and beds were comfortable. We would definitely recommend!

We found Nicola and Rita’s house while searching for a nice, quiet corner of Sardinia to spend our 25th wedding anniversary. We arrived to a lovely warm welcome and a cake that said as much (for our special occasion) which really made us feel immediately welcome.
The top floor of the house is easily accessed from a locked gate into the garden and by a set of outside steps to the little lounge-diner/kitchen area and then you follow the hallway where the three other, well furnished rooms come off. The kitchen was new and had everything you’d need for a short stay. Could quite easily host a family of 3-4 comfortably or 2 couples. We we’re on our own and had loads of space. Also felt very private and secure.
The main bedroom had a lovely aspect looking out over the sea, beyond the road (which didn’t really spoil the peace) and was fabulous to wake up to. The second room didn’t have the view but was still large and comfortable. Shower room and loo had all the necessary, once we’d worked out the how to get the water temperature right! There’s air con and tiled floors throughout too, plus a ‘sun trap’ veranda with dining area, sun loungers and BBQ set where we chilled out with a book on those lazier mornings. The only minor negative thing we didn’t realise was the industrial area nearby but this was obscured by trees and was fairly dormant and easily ignored.
Portoscuso itself is a lovely little place with an active church, a square, marina, live fishing port and several pizza bars, restaurants and little places we stumbled across by accident - all within a pleasant 15-20min seaside walk from the house. Also 2 or 3 really nice beaches and one with a cool beach bar/restaurant CocoLoco. There’s private car parking at the house, in easy reach of 2 supermarkets and the area surrounding. We found everything we needed, even out of season, in the last week of Sept.
Worth checking out are the 1800bc archeological town Monte Sirai with its crypts, ruins and temple about 15mins drive and Nebida a bit further on with its little pizza bar overlooking a wonderful view at sunset (booking advised if eating). There’s some great little beaches to be found too all within about 30mins drive from the house and you’re never too far way from something that takes your interest or the urge to stop and admire the views.
The island has so much to offer and we will return and explore some more. It’s a real jewel in Med!
Thanks Rita and Nicola for welcoming us to your home.
