Perfectly situated for our needs, lovely house for our family. House has a few minor maintenance updates needed, but nothing major and the host was very quick to respond to questions. We would totally stay again if we need a house in the area while attending another event. Very close to restaurants and things to do. Lovely, quiet historic downtown street.

My friends and I booked this place due to its location near the Portsmouth Renaissance where we were working a conference. Communication and booking with the hosts was quick and easy. The Old Town neighborhood was cute and inviting. We could easily walk back and forth to High Street for dinners at some fabulous places. The pizza at High Street Pizza and Pour House was the best I have ever had! The townhouse itself was fine. However, although the listing says the place has air conditioning, they do not mention that it is only on the first floor with a floor standing portable unit. The second and third floors, where the bedrooms are located, are not air conditioned. We were there during a mini heat wave and the temps on the second floor thermostat would read 80 degrees at 10pm. They did have some floor fans to help move air around. There were minor issues with cleanliness and a lack of general supplies (spare towels, paper towels, napkins, etc.). Nothing that would prevent me from staying again during cooler months.

A group of us traveled in from Pittsburgh to catch a show at the pavilion. The town is quaint and quiet but has a lot of food/drink options and is very walkable. The pavilion was very nice as well. The home was clean and had plenty of space for us to be there for the short times that we were not out enjoying the town. The hosts were easy to communicate with and were proactive in making our experience a good one. Thank you!

We stayed 3 nights and although we weren't there very much, we found it to be quiet and on a peaceful neighborhood street. The parking is on the street, but there is a parking lot that is steps from the house and made it easy if the space in front wasn't available. The neighborhood felt safe. All the flowers on the neighboring porches are lovely.
There were some cleanliness issues I informed the owners about after we checked out, which I believe stem from the cleaning company not being very diligent. But overall, we were happy with the space and it served our needs.
A few things for my fellow travelers to consider..... The first being that the beds are pretty low to the floor. My husband is 6'6" so it's a step up for someone very tall. He wasn't with me this time, but I'm always watching for issues for a really tall person when I'm renting. But I did find the beds on the 2nd floor to be comfortable.
Second is that the 2nd floor bedroom facing the street doesn't get very dark at night because of the street lights. Didn't really bother me and I appreciated the street being so well lit, but I know some people have trouble sleeping with any kind of lights coming in the room so it's worth mentioning
Lastly, the stairs are steep up to the 3rd floor so if you have someone with mobility issues, that would be a challenge. But we just called it "leg day" as we went up and down.
Overall, I enjoyed our time there and would stay again. Thank you!

This three story property was perfect for my family’s needs! The house was exactly as listed and there were no issues. The kids enjoyed the bedrooms and the television, the adults enjoyed the spacious kitchen. We loved walking to the water, and taking a trip on the ferry. Lots of things to do Va beach and the Va. zoo was 1/2 hour drive.

I never leave reviews but please don't waste your time. First impression- this neighborhood is not "luxurious" and in a rundown area in Portsmouth. The photos also look much better and angled perfectly in the booking.
The bigger issue that ruined plans was that upon entering the property, it was freezing, and the power was out. I was with my pregnant wife, infant child, and 10-year-old daughter. I reached out to the host, and she called Virginia Power and an electrician and asked us to wait- we waited for about 45 min, but it was too cold, and we had plans. I asked for a refund, and she said we should be more patient and go back until it's fixed. She wasn't understanding that it was past to point of fixing, we needed to find a place for my family to stay.
I asked again 2 days later for a refund; she offered a partial refund because the fees are from Vrbo. I don't care where the fees are from, I'm not paying them for a house with no power that I didn't stay in.
I understand things happen and I am not blaming her for any of this but do not like how this was handled. It's the principle.

There was a huge misunderstanding by the owner about the absence of a box spring/mattress support for the queen bed on the 3rd floor. When I reported it to the owner, they accused us of breaking it and removing it from the premises. There is not room for an exact day by day explanation of how the owner escalated into it being our fault and telling us to vacate the property IMMEDIATELY and me calling VRBO to report it. I called Portsmouth PD to request officers to meet us at the property to get our belongings. We made reservations at a Residence Inn in Norfolk for the remaining 3 nights of our vacation. The owner arrived while we were waiting for the police and they changed their attitude and begged us to stay. After all the accusations and threats, staying wasn’t an option and the owner had regrets, but it was too little too late. There were other small issues that could have been overlooked if not for the rude and malicious way the owner responded to an extreme problem of a mattress laying on only a bed frame with 3 bars across and sagging between them. By the third night we wanted a box spring or platform to support the mattress. I have all of it in writing through the VRBO app and I have pictures.
The owner processed a partial refund through VRBO and we are waiting for it to appear on our credit card. We accepted the owner’s apology. I did not agree to withhold my review. I hope the owner learned a lesson from the experience. Yes, it was necessary to involve police!

The condo was clearly newly renovated and freshly painted. It was very nice inside. The street it is on is beautiful and clean. There were a few issues that is causing me to give only 4 stars. I was not given the access to the code prior to arriving and was told they would meet me at the house. They didn’t show and they didn’t answer the number listed. A neighbor saw us after about 20 minutes and gave me another phone number, which they answered and gave us the code to a lockbox which was attached to a handrail on the porch. We were only given one set of towels each for a 3 night stay (could not find any others in the condo) and the washer and dryer were inaccessible to us because there was a large mattress covering the floor and up the wall of the small room the appliances were in. None of the 3 TV's worked - one only showed a light when turned on, and the other 2 did not appear to be hooked up to any service that we could access. We found glasses in the kitchen cabinet that had dried wine in them so we felt we needed to wash everything prior to using it.

Here is an honest review of this house so buckle up and get ready because it’s a doozy! I stayed 1 night at this house (not even 24 hours at this house). Arrive in Norfolk around 2:30pm on Saturday. Check in is at 4pm…no problem. Drove around to kill time. Got a message from the host at 3pm saying the house was ready. Headed over to get in and check it out. The house is old (Historic) and cute. Looks like they did a light refresh on it. On the first floor was the living room with a sofa and tv, then a 1/2 bath, and at the back was the kitchen. There was a door at the back of the kitchen that lead to the laundry room. Which had a mattress on the floor blocking the washer/dryer. There was also several bags with used linens on it. The listing says that there is a laundry but there was no accessing it because of the mattress on the floor. First thing noticed after turning the central air on was that there was also standing unit in the living room and the bedrooms. The standing unit has a vent that instead of venting outside, it vents back into the room. So you are blowing hot exhaust air back into the room. On the second floor is two bedrooms and a full bath. The beds are on platforms so no box spring. Then on the third floor was the last bedroom and full bathroom. Went looking for towels and found one towel on the 2nd floor bathroom and one towel on the 3rd floor bathroom. Asked the host about more towels on the way out to dinner. They contacted me quickly with pictures from the

The property was modern, clean, and lovely. Very comfortable. Quaint historic neighborhood has a lot of charm. 2 bedrooms are on the second floor with the master on the 3rd. Great value for visiting nearby Norfolk. Parking was always available in the lot across the street, never full even when getting back to the house late at night. I would stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay in this well furnished and clean property, which is in the middle of Portsmouth Old Towne, walking distance from the waterfront, the ferry to Norfolk and the main street with restaurants and bars. The neighborhood is quaint, quiet and friendly. The house is comfortable for a family of 4-6, with three separate bedrooms on 2 upstairs levels (stairs). There are lots of things to do nearby and within less than an hour driving distance. We are taking one star off for some minor maintenance issues that did not interfere with our vacation. The owner is aware and was very responsive and eager to make our stay comfortable.

Great 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home in a quiet residential neighborhood near downtown Portsmouth. Each bedroom was spacious, as was the rest of the home. The home is renovated, well decorated and overall comfortable. The check-in process was super easy, and so was check-out. The living room has a large screen smart TV that you can watch Netflix, Prime, or Disney+ on. The bedrooms are all upstairs. So, this may not be suitable for some but it worked out fine for my family. The neighborhood was very quiet and very safe. The hosts provide great recommendations for places to visit and restaurants to checkout. We lived our stay!

The rental process was easy and the owners made themselves available, if needed. We were more than satisfied with our accommodations. We hope that this property is available the next time that we visit Virginia.
