Great place to stay. The room was very comfortable and location with plentiful parking was very good. Doing some renovations on it but was not a factor. Highly recommended. Great rate.

The owner and her sons were personable, friendly and helpful. Food was very good. Beds were comfortable and warm.

All round bad experience, I was doing a road trip around Scotland and at 8pm when I was at John O'Groats I had a call from The Manor house to tell me my room had flooded and they would put me in another room in a building down the street. The room they put me in was terrible, it was tiny had no on suite, no tea/coffee etc a hole in the wall that looked like a punch hole and defective lock on door, the shared toilet bathroom was filthy. They offered breakfast and a burger?chips as compensation. I sat in the room for 10 mins and decided it was not fit to stay the night. I phoned the Manager and was told they had suddenly got a room available so I went back and was given a room on the 2nd floor that at least had comfortable beds and on suite bathroom toilet. I agreed to stay in that room and after 90mins of stress got a reasonable nights sleep. In the morning when I woke up I noticed even this room was sub standard with stains on the ceiling and flaking plaster on walls and around windows. I went down for breakfast and asked to see the manager, I was very interested to see the supposed flooded room and I want some explanation for all the problems the night before. Reception told me the manager was making breakfast and would speak to me after I had my breakfast. After I finished breakfast I went back to reception and was told the manager had suddenly had to go to Inverness and had taken the key to the flodded room with him. I truly believe they owe me a full refund.

This hotel has a lot of beautiful history wrapped through it. It is charming, as are the people who manage it. It is in the middle of renovations, and once those are completed, I'm sure it will be lovely! I feasted on lamb curry one night there, and it was very delicious! I even recommended it to the bus driver who dropped me off there the following night. I would eat that lamb curry any night!

Really good food

Room was very small with a weird and unhygienic toilet sink combination that took several flushes to work. Room was dirty as there’s building work going on and all the dust and dirt had been walked in. Communal areas were dirty as well. WiFi didn’t work, smart TV didn’t work. All in all a terrible experience.

Very friendly, good food.

House was surrounded by scaffolding due to roof repairs. Very old tired House, bed was very old and very uncomfortable. Room was not very clean with no tv service as it was waiting on a service call. Had a meal in restaurant and food was good.
Never came in to tidy room, change towels etc during our 3 night stay.
Owners were friendly and kind but House needs a major overhaul

Nice place, just had issue with the food. Diner was inedible, breakfast was not much better. Room was great, food major let down.

Wonderful place and wonderful people running it! They set up a taxi for us so we had no worries! Highly recommend!

Lovely family. Really good food. Beautiful views across the river. Would benefit from some investment but the priority should be to get some hotel grade bedding.

Didn't look great from the outside due to all the scaffolding. But we had a very large, clean room. Would go back for sure.

The Manor House is continuing its rerufb. Our room was very big, (family room, 1 double, 1 single) beds were comfortable, room was cosy and clean. Location was great for restaurants or takeaway food, supermarket.
😊👍

Very nice overnight business stay and would definitely return in the future.

Room was big and light but barely able to get in the shower/toilet.The room needed a lot of paintwork and was a bit shabby. The mattress was thin and uncomfortable and the second bed had not been remade and had clearly been occupied by someone else.
For somewhere to stay overnight waiting for the ferry it was not horrible but would not stay more than a night. The people were polite and to judge by the scaffolding all over the house they are probably doing up the property bit by bit. Overall however I would not be rushing back.

The staff were lovely, city parking good and lictaion to town, however everything else was below standard. Water makes on the ceiling, cables out on view, not great worth a 4 year old, toilet leaking, smell of sewage, bed were lumpy, bedding stale smelling, and sooo noisy with doors banging shut. The dining areas were so filthy that we were put off of breakfast, its really sad as it could be wonderful

We only stayed in Thurso one evening, as we were taking the ferry from Scrabster the next day. The Manor House was a good place to spend the night. It was close to Prince George's Street bus stop and the train station (easy walk to both), and is close to the town centre.
We had a room for three people, and it was very spacious. The bathroom was cramped but this is an historic building and like many such hotels the ensuite bathroom was retrofitted into the room.
The staff was kind enough to allow us to keep our luggage in their main hall for the day so that we could explore the town more conveniently.

The whole vibe from the place was superb from the start.on entry my situation reviewed and i was put into a ground floor room

Lovely, friendly proprietor, huge immaculate room, well situated… this was a gem! One note: there is scaffolding outside as there is construction, but we didn’t hear anything at all.

Great food and breakfast. Room was small and clean.

Check in was an interesting process and staff were not exactly nice about it (they were not prepared for a same day booking). I felt like an inconvenience.
The property is nicely located!

In need of major renovations. Nice Inn keepers though.

The building is beautiful with spacious stairway and rooms. However it is under renovation and the whole place was surrounded by scaffolding. I felt I overpaid for this property.

We only stayed one night but all was very satisfactory. Great food, in particular, and a very helpful and hospitable staff team.

Lovely hotel, free parking, friendly staff at checkin. Room very clean but absolutely no look out.. looks straight onto a wall. Maybe worth reading the small print and book a sea view, I wish we did.

Superb hotel for exploring the NC500! The staff are charming, the rooms are superb and the breakfast is one of the best Scottish breakfasts I have had in a long time. The haggis and sausage was superb!
Excellent value. Well recommended!

A truly lovely stay. The owner rang up to check on our journey, and offered to keep the kitchen open longer for us. The place is warm, cosy, and lovely to be in. The food was brilliant, proper restaurant quality stuff (perhaps better).
Would highly recommend to travellers heading north or south through Thurso.

The hotel didn't have an outside sign but plenty of parking. The pub / restaurant downstairs was good quality food very well cooked and good drinks.
Outside pub hours you need to phone the owner to check in. Very nice area wanderful walk on the river.the room was large and comfy.

We enjoyed our stay here, a very warm welcome at this family run guest house. We enjoyed our evening meal and they couldn't do enough to ensure that we enjoyed our stay, this was the first time I tried haggis and it was delicious - fell in love with their dog Sally :)
