About this cottage rental
Buccaneer Hill Cottage
Buccaneer Hill Cottage sits high on a hilltop overlooking Governors Harbour and the Caribbean Sea beyond. With stunning views, a private pool, and beautiful lawns and gardens, the property exudes the grace and elegance of an in-town estate. This estate was completely restored in 2009 with modern comforts and conveniences.
This cottage sits on nearly two acres with mature fruit and poinciana trees. The grounds include a large furnished pool cabana, barbecue grill, hammock, and more.
The cottage has a large sitting area, a full kitchen, and an en-suite bath.
The town of Governors Harbour, a three-minute walk down the hill, has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster most afternoons from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, for the weekly coffee hour for foreign residents and tourists. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, and a medical clinic. Friday Night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed.
A 10 minute walk in the other direction takes you to French Leave Beach, a mile-long crescent of pink sand that has been ranked in the top 20 beaches of the world. Most visitors to Eleuthera rent a car, because the island is rural and spread out, and a car is the only practical way to get around. By car, Buccaneer Hill is just a minute from French Leave Beach.
Eleuthera is famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is famously safe. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. You can rent power boats, sailboats, sea kayaks, jet skis, scooters, and bikes. You can have a charter captain take you out for excursions of various types. There is excellent sightseeing as well. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, a bottomless ocean hole, many unique beaches, historic churches and 19th century homes, and small villages to explore. We hope you will enjoy Buccaneer Hill, and experience all our island has to offer..
