About this villa rental
Distinctly more imposing than the typical holiday home, Ses Cases Noves sits perched amidst the picturesque, terraced slopes of the rugged western coastline. This grand Finca bears witness to the Serra de Tramuntana spilling down to converge with the sparkling Mediterranean, creating far reaching aquatic vistas bordered by a succession of villages clinging to an unspoilt shoreline of craggy coves, secreted watery inlets and lush undulating topography, surpassed only by the daily ritual of spectacular glowing sunsets.
Positioned on the fringes of the modest village of Banyalbufar this antiquated, rustic farmhouse has recently undergone a complete renovation, transforming it into comfortable yet very stylish accommodation. Ornate Juliet Balconies with green painted shutters, stone clad wall features and natural stone arches blend seamlessly with contemporary furnishings and a modern, fully equipped kitchen. In keeping with the interior design, open tread stairs lead to an upper level with capacious bedrooms and an ample, sea view terrace.
A sizeable pool is the protagonist of the exterior, sufficiently large enough not to disappoint even the more energetic members of the group. Surrounded by a natural setting of orange trees, grape vines, almonds and herbs swathing the terraced terrain and of course those marvellous sea views, rustling up a barbecue to savour on the terrace is an absolute pleasure.
A short stroll into the small village of Banyalbufar offers a surprising selection of amenities including a handful of eateries, a local store and bank ATM. Also known as the "terrace town", this enchanting hamlet was renowned for its cultivation of the Malvasier grape grown across some 2,000 terraces, during the months of July and August this sleepy village springs to life with a series of open air Jazz Concerts organised by the townhall to promote local musicians as well as reputed foreign artists. Coupled with a gastronomic route through the bars and restaurants in July, the laid back vibe becomes somewhat less sluggish as various tapas with a main ingredient of Ramallet tomato, accompanied by generous 'drams' of the local Malvasia Wine are offered to those participating in the festive affair.
The surrounding areas of Banyalbufar are ideal for keeping the ‘active’ just that - from Ses Cases Noves' position on the MA-10 road entering the village, hiking and cycling trails are literally on the doorstep, plus neighbouring villages such as Estellencs, Deia and Soller can also be reached on foot following marked rural trails, (an alternative scenic drive is just as invigorating for the not so adventurous). The pebble beaches of Es Corral Fals, Son Bunyola and Es Port des Canonge are also closeby, nestled at the foot of terraced slopes, accessed on foot or by car down a substantial descent. The picturesque towns of Esporles, Puigpunyent, Valldemossa and Andratx provide the chance to scrutinise local handcrafts and agricultural products at leisure whilst soaking up the local ambience.
A 30-minute drive transports you to the upbeat city of Palma de Mallorca with its striking monuments such as Le Seu, Almudaina Palace and the gardens of S’Hort del Rei, wide sandy beaches, some serious retail therapy plus a cache of art, craft and history museums. The local bus stop in the village offers yet another mode to explore and enjoy this beautiful part of the island.
Planning day trips out around this diverse island is all part of the fun - however make sure you're back in time to grab a glass of something nicely chilled from the fridge and claim your front row seats to enjoy the spectacular sunset each evening.
