A wonderful setting, terrific location and ideal large house for our 3 generation group of extended family members. The 8 children under 11ys had a fantastic time playing with their cousins enjoying the grounds, pool area, tennis court and football goalposts. Sonja was a great host - relaxed but responsive and a thoughtful cook for the two prepared meals she made for us

The villa exceeded expectations. Spectacular view and more than enough space for our group of 20. Made use of the kitchen, pool, laundry, and 8 bathrooms. Breakfast and dinner hit the spot. Pasta as good as any ristorante. Villa was a short drive to town and everyone loved Bar L’Angolo for gelato, caffeine, and travel tips. Outdoor market with vendors on Tuesdays was a fun local experience. Car needed. Central Tuscan location. Early morning greetings from horses in the front. Sonja was a wonderful host and available for any need.

We were group of 16 adults and three children under the age of three. Sonja and Diego could not have been better hosts! They are truly lovely people! Everything was absolutely perfect! The villa is stunning and very child friendly! We opted to have Sonja cook breakfast and dinner for us each day, and her food was absolutely delicious! You must try their pizza and bbq! We enjoyed the tennis court, feeding the horses, and day trips to Siena, Florence, and Montepulciano. The villa location is fantastic! We hope to come back one day soon! Thanks again!

A week ago I celebrated my 30th birthday with 21 of my friends at Sonja and Mike's beautiful villa. We arrived to a welcoming prosecco and snacks to help us settle right in and got to know our hosts straight away. I can't think of 2 people better suited to making guests feel welcome than these two. from Mike showing us the local butchery and offering to collect guests who were arriving at the nearby train station to Sonja's amazing cooking and organization around the villa. They really took care of everything and all that was left for the guests to do was have fun and enjoy their Tuscan getaway. I would highly recommend Sonja's cooked meals and the guests loved her cooking class. The food was fantastic and varied and every single person in the rest of my party commented on how good it was. The villa has everything you could possibly need for a fun and active getaway, we spent hours on the tennis court, playing table tennis, lawn cricket and around the pool table. The weather wasn't quite warm enough for much swimming time but it just means we'll have to come back one summer for that! Thank you so much Sonja and Mike. You two and the rest of my party gave me a 30th I will never forget!

We were a large group of extended family with several young children ranging in age from 10 months to 9 years and the property suited us perfectly. It had everything we needed including a great swimming pool and tennis court and the house itself was really spacious with great grounds. What really made the difference, though, were the hosts Sonja and Michael. They were so friendly and accommodating and made us feel like old friends from the outset! Sonja cooked us many wonderful meals and whereas we had intended to cook ourselves or to go out, chose to stay in and be catered for on most of the nights we were there. It would have been easy to not leave the villa at all for the week, but it is really well located to visit both Sienna and Florence on a day trip and close to many excellent vineyards where we sampled some of the best wine Italy has to offer (I am a convert to Montepiulciano Vino Nobile - some of the best red I have ever tasted!).
A few of the rooms in the Villa could do with a spruce up, but aside from that, this is the perfect holiday accommodation for any large group in the beautiful Tuscan countryside.
Thanks Sonja and Michael and I expect you'll see us all again soon!

Celebrating some special occasions with our extended family and was eagerly antcipated by everyone but the holiday exceeded all their expectations. Due in no small part to Sonia's, the owner, attention to detail and her wonderful cooking. The property was gorgeous and a perfect setting.

Thank you Sonja for our amazing stay. Sonja created an environment that was perfect for our small wedding ceremony. The food was delectable as well.

We had a large group of 4 families with 15 kids and this property was absolutely perfect! Plenty of space inside the house, the outside was incredible! Kids loved exploring and playing soccer/tennis/basketball.
Sonja was super helpful and responsive to any needs and was great to work with! Would definitely stay her again and refer this place to anyone traveling to this area!
Sonja lined up a wine tour for us with transportation that was perfect. She prepared dinner two nights and that was great too.
Awesome experience! Thank you, Sonja!

The property was in a beautiful setting. The service was perfect. The food (yes... you should plan to purchase meals at the house) were amazing. Relaxing stay with enough entertainment for our group that included adults, teens, children, and an infant. I would not hesitate to visit again when we decide to visit Tuscany again.

this was an amazing property and location. The facilities and services went beyond my expectations. Sonja and the team provided a great range of options and freshy food/wine for our stay! We loved it!

The property was beautiful, the food delicious, the wine flowed freely, but Sonja and Diego, the hostesses, made the whole trip, the most memorable trip for me and my family and we are very grateful we selected Villa Scopetello for our once and a lifetime trip to Tuscany! Would recommend 100% with no hesitation! All actives and day trips were planned perfectly! Thank you, Sonja & Diego & Viola - We had the best time - the Troy, Ludemann, Magnone, Taveras & Kalenderian Famlies!! xoxoxoxo

We had our wedding week at Villa Sinalunga and can not thank Sonja enough for her hospitality and helping make our celebration so perfect. The villa is beautiful and peaceful, but still large enough for our guests to stay on site. Sonja was wonderful to work with on planning and connecting with vendors, and served some of the best meals we had in all of Tuscany. Grazie Mille Sonja and Diego!

This was an amazing stay and experience. We had our wedding at the property and had all the guests stay at the property. Sonja did an amazing job helping us plan the event, activities for all the guests and make the stay an amazing, magical experience that we will never forget.

We were absolutely delighted with our stay at Villa Scopetello! Sonja was wonderful to work with and helped us plan our wedding from overseas. The wedding took place on the back patio, with the reception taking place in the upstairs dining room. Sonja made everything run smoothly and the food she prepared for the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception was incredible. Our guests are still talking about how good the food was, especially the panna cotta! The villa itself was so lovely and we had everything we needed. We would love to return someday! Huge thanks to Sonja and Diego for all they did to make our stay and celebration all we could've hoped for.

The host and hostess were fantastic. They worked with us to design specific meal events and the logistics of having a wedding on site went very smoothly.

I couldn’t recommend this villa enough, we were a large group of friends and it was perfect for our needs but would equally be perfect for a large family or people with children. The pool is lovely and new, the villa and grounds are amazing. Sonja was incredibly easy to communicate with before arriving and looked after us very well for the whole stay, would definitely recommend any of her various dinner options. There is a very well stocked fridge with pay on demand supplies.

Villa Scopitello surpassed our expectations! What a magnificent stay! From the well manicured grounds, accommodations and Sonja and team members truly an unforgettable stay.
The villa is divided into apartment style areas which are perfect for privacy. The villa staff lead by Sonja live on the premises but in a separate building where the delicious meals are prepared. I highly recommend that you enjoy meals prepared by them. We had breakfast daily before heading out to explore. We enjoyed two delicious meals prepared at the Villa. So much so that as I type, I am cooking the roasted chicken and potatoes which Sonja so graciously shared the recipe. Pizza night was a hit!
Sonja also facilitated the Wine Tasting which was out of this world. We visited two vineyards and had a wonderful lunch.
My only regret is that we did not spend more time just lounging around at the villa. We will be back!
FYI: We were a group of 16 adults and 4 children. Plenty for the kids to do!!

Villa Scopetello lives up to all of the 5-star reviews. The location is spectacular with unbelievable views everywhere, but the 5-star review credit all goes to the flawless care and concierge-level service from Sonja. Sonja and her team were the perfect hosts.
She’s extremely responsive and an excellent communicator. Very patient, flexible and accommodating.
She was attentive to all of our needs, and made each guest feel welcome as soon as they arrived.
She was there when we needed her, and invisible when we didn’t and a great company when she was around.
She’s an event planner, a chef, a host, a concierge, and now a friend.
She organized daily breakfasts (complete with made-to-order omelettes) on the outdoor (covered) patio, daily cleaning, pre-stocked fridge, pony rides for the kids, pizza party, horseback riding, wine tours, outlet shopping, airport transfers, home cooked meals at the villa, cooking classes, pizza night, truffle tasting, restaurant reservations, bicycles rentals, fireworks and even graciously woke up extra early on Easter morning to arrange an Easter egg hunt for the kids with a prosecco brunch for the adults.
I loved starting the day with a cup of coffee outside on the back patio, enjoying the incredible panoramic view of the rolling hills and having friends and family casually joining for breakfast throughout the morning.
The villa is the perfect blend of indoor and outdoor spaces. The inside is spacious, clean, comfortable, charming and full of so many interesting rooms and spaces that it allowed our large group to each have privacy, yet also have communal spaces to gather. The grounds are lush and beautiful. covered patios, vineyards, horses, swimming pool, tennis court, hiking trails.
The location is spectacular but we had to drag ourselves away to visit our pre-planned excursions (i.e. Montepulciano, Siena, Pienza, Cortona, Florence, Grieve).
The property and it's amenities I think are hard to beat for a large party size and Sonja's ability to cater to large groups is incredibly impressive.
It was the first time for most of in our group staying at a villa. I don’t know how we’ll be able to stay anywhere else.

We recently completed our second stay at Villa Scopetello. We stayed with Michael and Sonja in 2013 and had a great time, so we returned to Villa Scopetello again in 2016. We had eight people, four adult couples, and had more than enough room for everyone - private bathrooms for each couple, large kitchen, large gathering room, relaxing porches, comfortable bedding, good internet, etc. The villa is very large and has a beautiful setting on acreage in the countryside. The weather was great for us in mid-April, but it was still too early to use the pool. If you are there in warm weather, the pool is very large with a great area around it for relaxing, and there is also a newly resurfaced tennis court. Sonja and Michael are the greatest hosts you could imagine and so much fun. They will help you plan as much or as little as you need. They cooked a fantastic Italian dinner for us one night, we had great pizzas cooked in their brick oven one night, and a light pasta dinner one night - all delicious and very reasonably priced. Sonja is a great cook and Michael has the brick oven pizzas down to perfection. After sight seeing around Tuscany during the day, coming back to Scopetello and enjoying the beautiful setting, then having dinner prepared for you makes a great vacation day in Italy. We traveled on the train with Sonja and Michael to Siena one day. They lived in Siena at one time, so we thoroughly enjoyed their insider's perspective and insight, and just being with them. You do need a car while staying here so you can drive around and enjoy the many great towns within the region: Montepulciano, Montalcino, Orvieto, Arezzo, Cortona, Pienza, etc. You can also take the train from nearby Sinalunga to visit Siena and Florence. For spending time enjoying the Tuscan countryside, you could not ask for a better location - in the beautiful Tuscan countryside but only 10 minutes from the A-1 autostrada. Staying at Villa Scopetello, and having Sonja and Michael as your hosts, will make your stay in Tuscany truly special and unforgettable. Don't pass up the opportunity.

Sonja and Michael were the perfect hosts, they went above and beyond to make my daughter's wedding day perfect. Sonja is a world class chef, her 4 course meal she prepared for the wedding was by far the best meal I've ever had. They made us feel like we were staying with friends from day one and by the time we left we felt like family and were inviting them to visit us in Canada. I can't say enough about the villa and the grounds which were impeccably kept by this wonderful couple. So many things to do without leaving the immense estate and excellent advice on what the surrounding countryside had to offer. I highly recommend Villa Scopetello to anyone who wants the true Tuscany experience.

We spent a week in Villa Scopetello celebrating a friend’s 50th birthday. The pictures you can find of the villa look great, but the 'real‘ villa is even more beautiful. As a group of 23 people we had plenty of space to spend time together, but the bedrooms also offer enough privacy for everybody. In the house you can find everything you need, everything in and around the house is clean and the property is very well maintained. You can really see that the managers Sonja and Michael love what they do – they have a great sense of humour, are warmhearted and wonderful people to talk to. Whenever you need help or advice they are there – they also seem to know exactly what you need: in our case Michael took my husband to a mysterious tour to the surroundings and to a shooting range, while I could spend the whole day sitting in hot springs in the middle of a beautiful landscape… Sonja and Michael know the area extremely well and can certainly give the best advice on which sights to visit, where to go shopping, which restaurants to go to. During your stay in Villa Scopetello you don’t have to go to a restaurant though - Sonja and Michael prepare wonderful meals – and don’t miss the pizza baked in a brick oven outside! We also enjoyed cooking a four course dinner under Sonja’s supervision very much.
Many beautiful Tuscany villages can be reached easily by car or train, but you can easily spend many days on the wonderful property as well.

Today is Thanksgiving in the States, a perfect day for our extended family to express our tremendous gratitude for the opportunity to vacation at the magical Villa Scopetello in Tuscany for two weeks in late Sept/early October 2015. We were a group of 15 and all were delighted and amazed at the wonderful accommodations, the breathtaking vistas and graciousness of our hosts Sonja and Michael. The property layout was ideal, with separate living areas upstairs and downstairs including a kitchen on each level. The bedrooms and bathrooms were laid out to provide privacy and the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms modernized. The group gathered each evening in the great rooms above, usually around one of the most impressive fireplaces we had ever seen. Sonja and Michael were incredibly hospitable and exceeded all expectations with over the top service, such as lighting our fireplace most nights, helping us with transportation and just being wonderful and interesting people to talk to. Never intrusive was always there to help and answer our questions or accepting our frequent invitations to join us for conversation over a glass of wine. Michael even turned the beautiful grounds into a 9 hole pitch and putt knowing we had a lot of golfers in our group. The villa was located in Sinalunga and within easy reach of the beautiful Tuscan towns of Cortona, Montepulciano and Pienza by car and with Florence, Sienna and Arezzo all accessible via easy train rides from the station conveniently located within 3 miles of the villa. We will never forget our time there and highly recommend a stay there for any large group thinking about vacationing in Tuscany!

Villa Scopetello is an amazing venue that was fantastic for our family reunion. From the moment we contacted Sonja she was helpful and ensured all aspects of the holiday were memorable. The villa had fanatic activities on site and Michael arranged some truly unique Siena day trips. We had an amazing week celebrating with family from all over the world and everyone left with fantastic memories of their time at Villa Scopetello.

Despite the description and photos, we had not anticipated just how fabulous the villa would be! Each bedroom was lovely, clean and comfortable with easy access to one of the many bathrooms. Several rooms were absolutely gorgeous, including our own master suite, and all our guests were very happy.
The shared facilities were excellent, with balconies, hammocks and comfy chairs where you could tuck yourself away, and the pool or tennis court where you could enjoy exercise or relax sunshine. Plenty of storage for chilled drinks and preparing food, if you were so inclined.
The villa is in a stunning location and fulfilled my dream of having a celebration meal on a sunlit terrace with wonderful views. Added to that was the beautiful meal cooked by Sonja and the warm welcome provided by Sonja and Michael-perfect hosts!
We all loved everything about Villa Scopetello and had a truly memorable stay.

Perfect spot for large gathering of family. Villa is very close to Sinalunga where you can take a train or bus for day trips to the surrounding are, such as Florence and Siena . I would advise you to work with Sonja to plan transportation for your group. Be sure to have Sonja plan a winery tour for you, especially to Brunello di Montalcino. Also, be sure to plan "make your own pizza" night at the Villa - great fun!

“Beautiful Place, Wonderful Hosts”
The pictures depicting the Villa really don't do it justice. It is all they indicate and much more. I brought 16 Children and grandchildren, including a nephew and family to the Villa. I selected it based on the photos and reviews.
We arrived, in two 9 passenger vans, driving down a hill and back up to the Villa you see in the photos. Michael and Sonja were there to greet us with warm smiles, handshakes and hugs. When we stepped into the Villa, the interior was beautiful, cozy and warm. It felt like we were away somewhere and had just gotten back home.
We flew into Florence and drove to Sinalunga. By agreement Sonja had prepared a light lunch and an anti pasta and lemon chicken for dinner. It was delicious. We did a lot of travelling so we really did not have a chance to have Sonja cook for us. On the Friday evening before we left, I asked her for a Pizza Party. It was wonderful and delicious. She is a very talented young woman with a pixie smile. And not to leave him out, Michael is a hardworking, very congenial, person who loves people and is happy when you're happy. Sonja prepared the Pizzas, Michael ran the Brick oven and baked them.
Here in South Carolina, I proclaim myself the thin crust Pizza King. Sonja's Pizza leaves my title in serious doubt.
Michael and Sonja live in a separate house a few yards away. They never intruded but if ever you needed something, they miraculously appeared. One of my sons drove a van into a ditch. 17 of us struggled to get it out. We were getting frustrated when Michael and Sonja suddenly showed up in a 4 wheel drive and she towed us out.
All my children agree that they are the nicest, caring people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Not everyone makes me bubble over with such enthusiasm. These two people do. Below is a question "Would you recommend..........to a friend" ABSOLUTELY !!! And....not just to a friend but to everyone.

My husband and I happened to stumble across this amazing place during our search for a wedding venue. To say it's amazing is an understatement - the pictures just can't depict its true beauty. We stayed on the property for 4 nights with 11 family members and had more than enough room to enjoy each other's company, go off by ourselves or just wander around the beautiful property. Stellar accommodations! Sonja and Michael were selfless and amazing and coordinated wine tours, delicious meals and a fairytale wedding. The entire experience was beyond any expectations we had!

We had a fantastic time at Villa Scopetello. The house was very suitable for our group of 26 people. Managers Sonja and Michael took very good care of us. They are excellent hosts. Meals and home made limoncello were delicious. The villa is situated in a lovely environment. The surrounding garden is very nice and the view is amazing. We visited Siena, Pienza and Montepulciano. Lovely places at a short distance from the villa. We really enjoyed our stay and we would definitely recommend it.

We are a family of three traveling the world for one year. We have stayed in some really great places, and some really awful ones. Villa Scopetello has been, hands down, one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed. The beautiful, historical villa provides everything one would need for a beautiful holiday. From the relaxing swimming pool, complete with pool house and a stereo to play your favorite music to the well-equipped tennis court, which allows for a fun game from the novice to the competitive player. Our son thoroughly enjoyed the chickens, horses, cats, and Mulder, the villa's dog. The playground allowed him to burn off any additional energy he may not have used while swimming, playing tennis, feeding the animals, or wandering the property.
The two bedrooms we occupied were clean and comfortable. The downstairs kitchen is functional and perfect for small families or as a secondary cooking area. The gem of the interior of this place is definitely found upstairs, however. The great room with large dining table, pool table, couches, office, and beautiful balconies is ideal for large groups, and the majority of the bedrooms are well-secluded, so as still to offer privacy. It made me wish we had a larger group so we could have a big get together around the table. The kitchen upstairs is absolutely amazing and could fit several "cooks" without feeling crowded.
Ultimately, though, what makes this place is the hospitality of Sonja and Michael, who make you feel at home from the moment you step onto the property. Make certain to invite them up for dinner or a glass of wine to find out about all the day trips and places to explore.
Do not hesitate one minute in booking this amazing villa. You will not regret it!

We had a wonderfull week at the villa. Sonja and Michael are very welcoming and generous hosts. Nothing is too much for them, they even found a teapot for us, and the pizza evening was great fun too! The large pool is well kept and has a great view. The location of the villa is amazing, with large grounds, and there are plenty of places to relax and admire the incredible surroundings. It's also ideally located for sightseeing in Tuscany. All in all, a lovely place for holiday.

Sonja and Michael created the perfect mix of elegance and casual play for our group of 17. Beginning with a warm welcome to the Villa, we enjoyed a first night of homemade pizzas in the garden under a full moon. Whether we were swimming in the luxe pool, or playing tennis on the grass court, or napping in shaded hammocks, or enjoying wine under spectacular sunsets across the Tuscan sky, or enjoying the spacious yet cozy Villa, our hosts offered a delightful week for celebrating. Sonja is a superb chef and we ate sumptuous and professionally prepared dinners highlighting fresh vegetables from the garden, homemade pastas, and an assortment of local delices that made our mouths water. Sonja and Michael are premier hosts, their Villa sublime, and their Tuscan environs dreamy.

WE JUST RETURNED FROM A 2 WEEK STAY WITH OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN, 15 IN ALL. IT WAS OUR SECOND VISIT. CENTRAL LOCATION IN TUSCANY IS PERFECT. THE HOUSE IS HUGE (11 BEDROOMS) AND ABSOLUTELY LOVELY; 700 YEARS OLD BUT ALL THE COMFORTS OF HOME. SPOTLESSLY CLEAN. BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS. INCREDIBLE VIEWS. LARGE SWIMMING POOL OVERLOOKING THE SURROUNDING LANDSCAPE. TENNIS COURT. HOME MADE WINE TO DIE FOR. THE YOUNG CHILDREN GOT A KICK OUT OF THE CHICKS AND HORSES. THE OLDER ONES USED THE GYM. IMAGINE LONG WALKS THROUGH FARM FIELDS THAT ARE A SEA OF SUNFLOWERS. OUR HOSTS, SONJA AND MICHAEL COULD NOT HAVE BEEN NICER. THEY MADE THE VISIT SO SPECIAL. THEY ARE A WEALTH OF INFORMATION ABOUT THE AREA. THEY WILL PREPARE FABULOUS MEALS IF YOU ARE SO INCLINED (THEY PREPARED 5 DINNERS FOR US). THEY ARRANGED A WINERY TOUR COMPLETE WITH TWO MEALS AND TRANSPORTATION. WHATEVER YOU NEED, THEY WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN.
IF YOU NEVER GO ON VACATION AGAIN, YOU NEED TO DO THIS. IT'S THE VACATION OF A LIFETIME. ALREADY PLANNING OUR NEXT VISIT.

We recently returned from a stay at Villa Scopetello in beautiful Tuscany. My in-laws had stayed there a few years earlier (while under different management) and had told us to expect an experience of a lifetime....Frankly, they undersold it.
Despite the fact that there had been a month long drought in the region, the grounds were beautifully kept and every area and element of this working farm was in order and available. Our hosts Sonja and Michael allowed our children to get a first hand experience witnessing and in some cases helping in the care for the animals. Our kids were particularly taken with the baby chicks and of course the K-9 mayor of Scopetello, "Mulder".
The Villa itself was a home away from home and our hosts made sure we found it that way for our entire stay. Everything was clean and neat and at our full disposal. We also found the pool immensely inviting in the heat, as every afternoon was capped with a fun filled family session in the water and on the tennis court/soccer field.
In addition to caring for the grounds and the home, Sonja and Michael also were adept at handling any of our requests. Upon our arrival we were pleased to find that Sonja had a new stroller ready and waiting for our two year old as well as crib complete with a teddy bear, to make up for the one we had forgotten to bring for him. From handling arrangements for excursions to answering things like where to find the best pastries in town, nothing was out of their reach.
We found the abilities of our hosts to be particularly on the mark with our dining experiences, as every meal we they prepared was fantastic. Michael has the pizza oven down to a science and I honestly think that the two of them could compete with any pizzeria. The experience of making our own pizzas and watching them cook was a definite favorite of the kids and the adults alike, to say nothing of the quality of the product itself!
We loved our stay in Tuscany and truly couldn't imagine our time there being any better. Also, I think everyone in our family feels as if we've definitely met two lovely people in Sonja and Michael and consider them friends for life.
Two things crossed my mind as we ended our stay at Villa Scopetello; "I can't believe its over and I can't wait to come back!"

What a wonderful experience. The Villa, the hillsides, the wine, the food! Everything was beyond expectional. And of course, none of that would have been possible without Michael and Sonja. Their local insights to the area cannot be matched. A true Tuscan experience, that I don't think you can find anywhere else. I would love to say it was a trip of a lifetime, but after this journey, I cannot imagine never going back.

My family and I just returned from two weeks at Villa Scopetello and it we had an experience of a lifetime. There were 15 of us in total (11 adults and 4 children) and the Villa was plenty big to accommodate that size of a group with room to find quiet time as well. The Villa was spotlessly clean and had all the comforts of home despite being 700 years old. The views are breathtaking! Michael and Sonja are lovely people who make it a point to ensure you have a wonderful holiday. They definitely became part of our family by the end of our 2 week stay. They were always there to assist with giving us ideas of day trips to take or restaurants to eat in. They even took a few of us into to Siena to see the Palio. Definitely something we could not have done on our own and had the same experience.
I would definitely recommend Villa Scopetella. You won't be disappointed staying here. Michael and Sonja will ensure you have a wonderful experience. Since being back, all my husband and I talk about is how we will get back there.
Just to add some logistical things that might be helpful, the Villa is only a few minutes drive into Sinalunga which is a small town, but offers a lot. There are several large grocery stores where you can find ANYTHING you may have forgotten from home and then some. I was shocked at all the things they sold in the Coop. Everything from steak to big screen TVs. Also in town there are a number of bars where you can get morning caffe and gelato. There was a great outdoor market on Tuesday mornings which was fun to walk through and sold fruits, vegetables, meats and also clothing. Ask Michael and Sonja about having dinner at Luigi's. You won't be disappointed. Sinalunga is the perfect location for taking day trips. We usually did a day trip every other day, so we had time to also enjoy the Villa. We visited Siena, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Florence, Porto Santo Stefano, Pienza, Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto and other cities. Very easy to take day trips to all of these places and be back in time for a dip in the pool before dinner.
I can't say enough wonderful things about Villa Scopetello! You'll just have to experience it yourself! I know I'll be back someday!

We stayed at this beautiful 200 year-old villa with several other couples at the end of May and found our holiday to be most pleasant. The villa is located on a very large property with its own little vineyard, olive grove, swimming pool, tennis court and is surrounded by beautiful roses. It is very peaceful as there are no neighbouring houses. The view is magnificent! The nearest village of Sinalunga can be seen on a hilltop in the distance. It is a short drive, about 10 min. The weather was perfect; warm but not humid during the day and cool at night, so we slept comfortably. Of note is that there were no mosquitoes! (The bane of our Canadian summer evenings!)
All the amenities at the villa are modern, including 2 kitchens, all bathrooms and a washer and dryer, as well as an elevator. The villa is very spacious, has a huge original fireplace in the 2nd floor living room, very large dining room table and lots of comfortable sofas and chairs. The WiFi worked well for those who wanted to keep in touch with family or work (!?!)
Outside there are several sitting areas; in the olive grove, back patio, rocking chairs on the front porch and loungers under a trellis on the side of the villa where one can view the two resident horses (one of them a retired race horse) and chickens (try the real free range eggs!). Our favourite spot was in the hammock with a glass of wine in hand...
Sonja and Michael, who are the hosts, are a delightful couple. They are staying in a small dwelling next to the villa and are available and most helpful when need be, but also very discreet. As we found out, they can also cook up a storm! We had wild boar with juniper berries one night, a local specialty. They are also a lot of fun when they joined us in the evening on several occasions and know all the interesting places to visit.
On their advice, we attended a Flower Festival in a nearby village where a parade took place with floats made of flowers, people dressed up in medieval costumes, dancing and playing instruments. It was amazing. We made day trips to Florence, Siena and Perugia. Sonja and Michael also organized for us a day tour of 2 wineries where a home-cooked lunch was provided in addition to ample wine tasting and a “mini sommelier” course.
We will be back to Villa Scopetello in the future and we wholeheartedly recommend it to others.

Just got back from Villa Scopatello last night. What an amazing vacation! Our extended family of 15, including 4 young children ages 2 to 6, all had a great time. The Villa is very spacious and can accomodate many people, allowing different families / couples / groups their own space for privacy from time to time. The Villa has so many fun places for large or small groups to enjoy time together. Our family had dinner together in a different spot every night--up by the pool, under the olive trees, on the front patio, on the back patio, in the back yard, as well as in the large upstairs dining room in front of the gorgeous stone/ brick fireplace. The seperate kitchens allow for groups eating seperately to prepare meals simultaneously while not being on top of one another.
The pool / tennis / football (soccer) has everything you will need to relax at the Villa for a day. Plenty of toys for the kids, and a refridgerator for the adults ;) The shed is equiped with a bathroom and shower so running back and forth to the house is unecessary. Oh yeah, the view is breathtaking!
The view is actually breathtaking from everyroom in the house. There is a photograph ready to be painted outside of every window.
Michael and Sonja are ready to help you out with any need you may have, and ready to personally guide you if necessary. Never once were we steered wrong by their suggestions, whether it be a local shop in a hill town, or a great dinner in a quaint restaurant off the beaten path. Michael knows everyone, and when you mention him, prices drop. He gave us a guided tour of the Palio in Siena and we couldn't have had the same experience without him. It was truly one of a kind. Don't forget to have Sonja cook for you, its as good as the restaurants in the area. Pizza parties are great too, and fun for all ages.
The villa is located within a short drive to many great hill towns. Our party visited Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, Orvietto, Perugia, Catiglione de Lago, the Chianti region, Porto Santo Stefano, Siena, Florence, and Rome. There are a ton of great hill towns within an hour of the villa, which is only a few kilometers from the Autostrada. Don't forget to get lost on some backroads from time to time however.
Take a walk through the endless vineyards and sunflower fields just steps from the property. Or better yet, go for a sunrise run through them to the bell tower in Sinalunga.
