Well presented and with little extra touches like breakfast in the fridge.
Many aspects reflected meticulous attention to detail, to give it a really homely feel.
Beds lovely and warm.
No heating in 2nd bedroom, but convection heat transfer from other rooms kept it liveable.

Penola is a beautiful historic town, Ulva cottage is a perfect representation of this history. Dee was terrific to deal with from our first contact. The cottage was cozy, clean and close to all that Penola and The Coonawarra has to offer. There was a lot of information at the cottage for wineries, cafes, restaurants and dog friendly places highlighted. Dee provided, bacon, eggs, bread and milk for us and also treats for our two dogs. All of which was very appreciated. The garden was secure and very dog friendly, our 2 Cavoodles got to meet the neighbours and I think enjoyed their stay as much as us. Thank you Dee for a lovely stay in a beautiful cozy cottage.
Nothing. Our total experience dealing with Dee and our stay at Ulva cottage was a delight.

We loved staying in this gorgeous historic cottage. It was renovated and furnished appropriately for the era and very comfortable. It was quite cold at night but we closed the doors in the lounge and the heater did a great job, just proves the worth of modern insulation.
A small stove would have better than an electric hot plate that was not working very well.

Great location, near Main Street and attractions. Quaint comfortable cottage. Stayed during winter and heating was adequate, just needed to close off a few sections when not in use. All beds were beautifully comfortable. We traveled with 2 elderly ladies who enjoyed staying in the cottage and managed the small steps inside without problems. The host was great, couldn’t have done enough for us.
Cooking facilities not great. Portable electric hot plates took a while to get going. Didn’t use the portable oven. Guess a good reason to go out for dinner!

Fantastic cottage with all the amenities we could ask for and more. Lovely and cozy space that not only accepted but welcoming for dogs - had a great sized yard out front for our little one to stretch her legs in. Dee was an incredible host and we'd recommend anyone to stay when in the area.

It was very novel staying in an old historical cottage but brought up to a reasonable modern standard. Location was excellent in the centre of town and walking distance to everything. The property was made comfortable by a good bed and furniture. The little extra touches with kitchen supplies and dog treats were a nice surprise.
The two burner cooktop was very slow to heat up and therefore cooking a meal took ages.
Keeping the property warm throughout was difficult even though we had 3 heaters which were adequate except in the kitchen and dining area. Though we could have brought an old heater in from the bedroom.

excellent location, easy to access, plenty of parking, comfortable in every way.
Only criticism is the crockery for eating. It looks bad and spoils the overall effect as it is also on display.

Quaint trust cottage, a step back in time. Wonderful food supplies & toiletries. Sheridan towels. Heating & cooling. Close to everything in town. Beyond expectations 😊🤩

A beautiful old heritage building in an old town. The house was set up with all you need from Sheridan towels to a well equipped kitchen. The beds were big and comfortable. The photos showed the second bedroom came off the main bedroom - good if you had kids, bad if a touring group of adults. However that door can be closed and the second bedroom has an alternate entrance through the kitchen. Close to all the things the area has to offer and the town is walkable - plenty to do in town and a well stocked supermarket - locals very friendly.
Easy drive to wineries and the caves (if you only see one cave see Victoria Caves - great history.
Word of warning, if you like modern white and glass accom, this is not for you .. but if you want to immerse yourself in yesterday then this is your place today.
Would stay again in a heartbeat.
A very first world problem. The BBQ, though new and works perfectly, is only a two burner. Makes it a little squeezy if preparing food for more than two.

We felt very at home. Lots of little extras.
Even breakfast supplies . A very nice touch.
