Unfortunately, this time the hotel did not accept us because we made a booking with booking.com… they would have accepted us if we had come independently… so there was a big discussion with the manager and owner…
In the end we had to ask booking.com for help…
Regardless of this, boundaries were clearly crossed:
- talking negatively about us to other guests in Hausa. They did not know that we understand Hausa... Statements like: "we are tired of this guest" were still harmless
- Particularly malicious expressions were used by the manager Ms. Mercy
- Since we are regular guests and always pay everything properly, we have been promised for 5 months that payment by credit card would be made easier for us as foreign guests... but to date no solution
- Important information was not passed on to the next shift (e.g. storing valuables in unlocked rooms)
- Agreements with the manager Ms. Mercy were broken, which reduced the relationship of trust more than once
- The owner said that he did not accept payment via booking.com because booking.com allegedly would not pay them the money
- When we asked if they could please consult a booking.com employee, they aggressively refused
- In the end we had to leave the hotel, which meant extra costs for us in terms of time, taxi, new accommodation and stress...
- There are numerous other "no goes" ... so as a foreigner it is strongly advised not to stay here stay… Nigerian guests are given much preferential treatment “we actually just want local guest” (staff)

One of the best places to stay in Abuja, very well equipped rooms, everything is in good condition and works, good food for a reasonable price, very clean, staff is great, especially the kitchen and also Elisabeth at the front desk
I would actually give 10/10 points... however, the manager was unable to find solutions in many situations ...
If it hadn't been for Elisabeth, the professional receptionist, the arrival would have been an absolute disaster and my rating would have been very poor. The hotel, the owner and the managers owe it to Elisabeth that we stayed and had a good experience.
There was an overbooking upon arrival. No room was available because the manager was unable to find out about the functions and regulations of booking.com. Not only were we simply sent away, but we also had to find an alternative and pay for it ourselves. Unfortunately, it was difficult for us from Nigeria to inform booking.com employees... and we didn't want to cause any problems for Elisabeth, who was seriously looking for solutions... and even paid for the taxi for us with her private money...
Although the manager also has a friendly and likeable side, she is hopelessly overwhelmed with her position as manager, which made our stay very uncomfortable:
- we had to pay for the second breakfast, not included as stated on booking.com
- there was a long discussion about the price, as initially they did not take the price given on booking.com, but their own prices
- We were promised that we would find a solution for foreign credit card payments, which was not the case even after three weeks and caused us stress and serious problems
- We were promised that we could use the initially booked price for further bookings, but after we booked for three days, not only were the nights for the next few weeks blocked, but the price per night was also increased to $10 per night
All in all, that would actually be reason enough not to book there anymore and also to provide poor service... but to remain objective... the accommodation really tries to offer an appropriate standard
