Such a beautiful old building. So many thoughtful touches. Heidi was so welcoming and knowledgeable about the history and the area. We had a magical experience and can’t wait to come back in the winter to experience it with the fireplace and the snow!

What a perfectly charming and comfortable historical gem! Very clean and comfortable with all the necessary comforts while keeping the nostalgia of it's younger years. Loved the common kitchen area and the homemade breakfast was a great surprise. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend!

The Expedia listing is not correct. No pool onsite!! There is a community pool over a mile away and the hours are limited. Also, there is ONE shared bathroom between multiple rooms. Not ideal for a romatic getaway. No TV's available. Limited WiFi, no streaming. No refrigerators or microwaves in room. Bed was very comfortables but the pillows were not. Breakfast is very limited for those with sensitivities to gluten. Guests are expected to wash their dishes and put away on the weekdays. Property in the back needs to be maintained. Bottles and cups left on site, in the back yard area. The exterior restrooms were not clean. This hotel is overpriced for what is offered. I recommend staying in Colfax and visit Dutch Flat as a side trip.

We stayed in the blue room and we loved it! The grounds were nice and enjoyed having breakfast on the patio, The host was great and plan to go back.

There was no water pressure in the shower but that might be California restrictions. Also, the tub/shower is not safe to get in and out of. They need to put a grab bar on the bathroom wall. I was in the Mountain Top room.

Upside , Hotel was a beautiful historic inn and bed was comfy and claw foot tub bath enjoyable. Charming little town. Downside, no staff at all. You had to do everything for yourself which would be fine except they were out of Coffee and you had to find out all that from another guest that was there who had to call to find that out. Some written instructions and organizing would be helpful.

Fantastic place, rich in history. Very well decorated and maintained. Comfortable bed and lots of places to sit on the porch and enjoy the quiet. Perfect for a weekend getaway. Great museum a 20-second walk away. recommended.

What an amazing relic of our California state's history! So beautifully kept & decorated. This is a magical place where you will feel you time traveled to the Gold Rush Era. I couldn't reccomend this place more! Especially to families who want to teach their childeren 1st hand about history or even those who want to host a unique setting for a wedding, etc. The staff couldn't be nicer & the town couldn't be more relaxing! I confident give this place 5 Stars in every area!!!!!

This is a wonderful hotel. We stayed here one night to get an early start on our ski trip. It has a charming 1850s ambience with furniture and decor representing the period way back when it first opened. Even my teenage son said "This place is so cool". Very clean with unbelievably comfortable beds. The included breakfast was extensive and delicious, and they even accommodated our extensive food restrictions. The staff was so friendly. Easy check in with detailed instructions texted in advance. Easy check out as well. Nice and quiet at night so we got a great night sleep. We will definitely stay here again.

Really cool hotel, amazing breakfast. Very cozy, great for families with kids.
The furniture is a bit old and squeaky but it matches the style and overall great!

Excellent stuff !

This hotel is run more like a bed and breakfast. It was cozy, clean and very welcoming. The caretaker was so amazing. Thank you for the great stay. We will definitely stay here again.

This is a beautifully restored classic hotel. Big kudos for the restoration. The rooms are big enough and comfortable. The room was not clean to my standard, but part of that is due to the place being old. The bathroom is shared for some of the rooms, which was a bit inconvenient. The door locks are rather loud and are activated frequently. I could not enjoy the breakfast because it starts at 8am on Sunday and I needed to leave before 7:30am. Also it's only served on weekends.

A very nice historic hotel. Loved the ambiance. And breakfast was great!

Old hotel just like we like it. Haunted for sure. No one at the front desk was a little weird but it was a lot of fun and truly a bed and breakfast. The whole town was ADORABLE!!!

We loved it all. Have wanted to stay there for years and was so glad when it was finally bought and restored.

One night stay to watch the end of the perseid meteor showers. Such a cute, cozy, quiet place to unplug. Heather was awesome and her breakfast was delicious!

The property had no staff on site when we arrived, we let ourselves in with a code that had been texted to us. We were unsure of where we could park. The room was tidy, clean and air conditioned but no drawers or cabinets to leave our belongs in other than a space designated as a closet. Shared bathroom was not stocked with disposable towels for hand washing. Enjoyed our stay because of location and quietness.

Loved our stay at the Dutch flat hotel. It’s a beautiful old hotel and the lovely CA foothills. It’s charming and comfortable and we will definitely be back as soon as we are able to.

How often you get to stay in a 170 years old hotel? We had a surprisingly wonderful experience.

Great experience! Great place!

Beautiful historical hotel with no tv but beautiful living area you can play checkers reading the books play piano just totally different things!!!!

What a fun and comfortable place to stay. We were on our way through town and chose this hotel as a stop over. However, it is definitely a destination type of hotel. It is a quaint town with 1 restaurant and this fun hotel. The rooms were decorated perfectly and incredibly clean and comfortable beds. Leif was welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. The view from the decks of the sunset were stunning and Heathers breakfast on Saturday morning was scrumptious. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful room. Friendly and helpful staff.

the Dutch Flat Hotel is a rare chance to experience some 19th C California history at a reasonable cost. The new owners are enhancing the experience with additional buildings. It feels it is in transition still, but nonetheless I had a very pleasant stay, with friendly hosts and a delicious breakfast.

The staff was very friendly and the hotel was very interesting and historical.

This is an old building, built in the late 1800’s, in a little town in the middle of nowhere. That gives it, it’s charm. (But not necessarily air conditioning for the warmer months).
We were given a code to enter the front door and our room.
We arrived at 8:00 on a Saturday night to find it’s a self service operation. This became a problem when someone else occupied our assigned room. There were no staff members in the building.
We tried calling and texting the number used to text us instructions, we called the number on the front door, we looked high and low until we found a post-it that had an emergency number. We tried them all. No one answered, no one returned our calls. We contacted Expedia, they couldn’t find the property managers.
Then one couple walked in and talked to them to find out they had some check-in issues with their code. They gave us the number of the person that called them back. Someone answered that number and they remotely sent us to another room.
Needless to say, being in the middle of nowhere without a place to stay or any options nearby on a Saturday night before Mother’s Day leaves one with an uneasy feeling.
My advice: beware of places with multiple one line reviews with excellent rating.

If you like antique and like skiing at Boreal, this is the place to be. It is close to highway, close enough to Boreal, and you'd feel like living in a museum. Everything functions well, breakfast was great. This was our second visit:-) We still haven't met any ghost though.

Nice & cozy! Check in was a little tricky, but after that it was a great stay.
