About this house rental
Winner 2024 Accommodation Award, SBBG Business Awards, as voted by guests! Historic Lyndoch, is less than 1 hour drive from Adelaide CBD. Great place to base yourself for a relaxing food, wine, romantic or family getaway. Extremely comfortable private house with all amenities, in this unique 1850’s colonial building. Price is for 2 guests (no extra cleaning fee). Additional guests (including children) are $25/person/night. Baby amenities for hire if required (portacot/high chair etc). Experience all the Barossa has to offer with Tanunda, Nuriootpa & Angaston nearby. The space is a 5 minute walk to town centre with shops, restaurants, hotel, supermarket etc. The B&B is an entire 3 bedroom house (Romantic queen four poster room, double room and twin room with a small double and single), with lounge, kitchen, separate dining, laundry, bathroom and private rear patio/pergola/garden. We provide free wifi. Netflix, Stan and Prime apps are available for guest sign in on a 65” Sony smart TV. There is also a good collection of DVDs for guests to enjoy. If you have a big group, the other larger side (totally separate with 3 bedrooms [main with king sized 4 poster], family room, meals area, lounge [original front bar of the Inn], kitchen, bathroom, laundry etc) may be available. So you could have 6 bedrooms and 12 guests using both. If you’d like to do this, and you’d stay at least 2 nights, and can see the dates are available, contact us to arrange a discount (excluding peak times of school holidays and long weekends). The building was originally the Barossa Inn. In 1912, a bakery was opened by two brothers and it became the Lyndoch Bakery. The original wood-fired oven remains at the back of the property, which we’d be happy to show you if you are interested. We will leave you alone, but if you need assistance/advice, or want to see more of the historic site, we are nearby to help. Long term stays are encouraged with great reductions in nightly price. We do not charge additional cleaning fees and the place is thoroughly cleaning per Covid19 advice. If guests do not follow house rules or leave dishes out or additional mess or stains requiring extra cleaning, an additional cleaning fee may be applied. Enjoy a happy, healthy Barossa stay! Guest access: You have the entire house at the right end of the building, which was originally lived in by one of the two ‘baker brothers’ of Lyndoch Bakery, after they redeveloped it from the Barossa Inn. (The original 300-loaf wood-fired bakers oven is over your back fence to the left in a building we’ve restored). You have a lounge, 3 bedrooms, separate dining room, kitchen, laundry, bathroom, separate toilet and patio area at back with a full barbecue. Other things to note: Be aware this is a gorgeous historic building, built to the lay of the land, so there are a maximum of 2 steps within the house and 2 low-rise steps to the entry. The original scotch oven (bakery) is detached from the house (accessible to guests if convenient, upon request to hosts).Parking is on the street as the driveway is shared. You can walk up the driveway though, to enter the personal access gate to your pergola area, or to leave that way. Air conditioning is evaporative and heating in the lounge is a gas easy-to-use unit, with electric heaters in the other bedrooms. All instructions are in the welcome book in the dining room, along with a range of local and regional information. A ‘starter pack’ of continental breakfast provisions is provided for the first day (juice, bread/toast, condiments, tea, coffee plus fresh eggs from our free range chooks). This may last you 2 days depending on how much you use. A bin is provided in the kitchen with a red rubbish bin and yellow recycle bin outside the side gate. We appreciate guests helping us protect the local environment. If the house bins get full, please put the bags into the appropriate outside bins and use a new bin bag liner (provided). Any of the equipment for a baby (cot & bedding, high chair, baby bath, potty, child cups/plates/cutlery, plus extra towel), bed barrier etc, can be provided on request at an additional fee. Please also note the ‘House rules - Additional rules’ around children and infants in the booking section. Whilst there is a sofa-lounge in the lounge room it is not counted as a bed and is absolutely NOT to be used unless negotiated with us. We can supply extra bedding at a minimal cost. If guests use the bed without negotiation, we will add an extra charge for mattress cleaning. We do not charge additonal cleaning fees (unless the guests make excessive cleaning necessary) and the place is thoroughly cleaned per Covid-19 advice between guests. The house is not available for isolation for guest(s) with Covid or other similar transmissible diseases. Parking is on the street. Thank you.

Beautiful old house with so much character and charm, extremely clean and well kept. More than you could ask for in a Holliday house. Great location that is central to lots of great places to visit. We just loved it so much we didn't want to leave

Nice catch up with friends in this gem. The house was so comfortable with everything you need to have a good stay. Lyndoch is a nice quiet town but not far from wineries and other busier Barossa towns.

Communication from Gordon and Heather before we arrived was clear. We were greeted personally with a friendly welcome and outline of interesting features about the history of the house and the area. The property was beautifully furnished and clean, with thoughtful touches and everything we needed. Food provisions were generous with more than we could use in the time we were there. Highly recommend this property.

I was with a group of five ladies who stayed in this beautiful property for two nights. The house was immaculately presented, cleanliness was of a very high standard and there was so many beautiful and unique things displayed around the property. The history of the Inn and Bakery was very interesting and it was a combination of old and modern. All of my group said that the beds were super comfortable and we all had good night sleeps. The breakfast and condiments were plentiful and fresh. It was very difficult to leave the house especially with the choice of a few hundred DVD's, books and magazines and not to mention the huge smart TV with Stan, Netflix, Prime etc. It's a short walk to the local restaurants, pub and cafes and a short drive to all the beautiful Barossa Valley has to offer. The owners are super friendly, helpful and passionate about their property and I would definitely recommend that this is a great place to stay.

Our host Heather was fantastic in her communication; timely and comprehensive.
Accomodation has a rich history which we loved hearing about. Every need was catered for comprehensively. Comfy beds, hot shower, coffee making facility, lovely outdoor setting with BBQ to name just a few. Even a Band-Aid for that small misadventure.
Location was great to get to AFL games and wineries with easy road systems connecting back to Lyndoch.
A gem at a very reasonable price. Would recommend highly.

Hosts, Heather and Gordon, have done a remarkable job in presenting this lovingly restored historic building as a B&B. Beautifully furnished throughout in period style., yet has all the modern conveniences that make for a pleasant and relaxing stay. We were pleasantly surprised to find the fridge stocked with milk, juice, bread and fresh farm eggs, not to mention the various teas, coffee and spreads etc. that were supplied.
Situated in a quiet village but close to the major Barossa towns and wineries, it’s more than just a place to stay, it’s a real home away from home. We have no hesitation in recommending this top class establishment and hope to visit again someday.
