Friendly staff and lovely views across the wooded valley. Restaurant food in the evening and at breakfast was exceptional
The room smelt slightly doggy- the carpet looked a bit tired

Wonderfully furnished & designed. Stunning location.
The smell of drainage in the outside sitting & eating area. The evening meal & lunch food choices were very extensive but the halibut dish that we chose was exceptionally salty as were the fries!

Smashing old coaching inn, very traditional and in a picturesque location, easy parking and super quite. Excellent food offer comfortable Bar and Great Breakfast, whats not to like.
Nothing, just be prepared to be a bit off the beaten track, I like that but if you need the Motorway links it's a little out of the way.

Idyllic and charming Inn , in a beautiful countryside location on the edge of Halifax. Full of character.
Can’t fault anything about this superbly run and staffed Inn.

Lovely old inn with good food in a quiet location on the rural edge of Halifax. Delicious muesli, fruits and yogurts plus very nice Eggs Benedict for breakfast, but see below for difficulty meeting a request for boiled eggs.
Booking.com described the room we booked as having courtyard/garden view but it was in fact a room with skylights so no view which felt claustrophobic. As it rained we could not open the skylights for fresh air.
At breakfast, despite the extensive freshly-cooked options we were told that two hard-boiled eggs could not be provided. On challenging this they were in fact able to provide them. We received an apology on checking out.

I've known the Shibden Mill Inn for over 40 years, but not stayed there as my wife's mother lived quite near by, and we stayed with her. Now she's gone, this will definitely be our first port of call when we re-visit the area. The restaurant is superb and choice of ales and whiskies in the bar first-rate.
The perennial complaint in most hotels/B&B's -- poor overhead lighting in bedrooms and social areas. It makes reading very difficult and in the Shibden Mill Inn, we couldn't see inside the wardrobe properly to sort our clothes.

Our stay was delightful. Shibden Mill Inn is a gorgeous period building in a wonderful quiet setting. Breakfast and dinner were top notch and our room was spacious and comfortable. The waitresses and waiters are attentive and lovely. The walks surrounding the Inn are in beautiful, tranquil scenery.

location, food and the history
the room was very small and very warm but we did pay a substantial reduced rate compared to larger rooms, so it is what it is

food was very good along with accommodation, would return for another visit soon
Reception on the first night Woman who showed us to our room was cold and calculated. no welcoming at all
other staff very friendly, waiting staff excellent, Just more banter would of gone a long way, breakfast waiter very good and informative on locations we planned to visit.
Just a little more friendly would of been most apricated as we were there for a honeymoon.
all in all food is great and the location was very nice,
The first night in the restaurant was put off by loud guests, but the second night in the garden wonderful.
Along with pizza and nibbles to die for :)

Wonderful old property, full of character in a beautiful setting. Fabulous, helpful and friendly staff. Our main evening meal was delicious as was our breakfast, which was served on a lovely hot plate - just how we like it. Thank you!
Smelly drains outside. Public toilets needed a little clean. Bedroom small as was the bed and very creaky.

exceptionally delightful
No salads either as a main or side dish on the restaurant menu. Food is outstanding but loaded! 3 days on the trot without salad not easy.
