Room was very nice and modern with a great view of the sea.
Bed was comfortable but was 2 singles stuck together and not a king size.
Was a bit upset that the hotel nether got back to my email saying it was our wedding night and could they do something to mark the occasion in our room, but no answer or any surprises.
Was also shocked that parking was £15 a night, even though it was November and there is plenty about if you look around.
Last little moan was the quality of breakfast, stay away from the mushrooms that are horrible.
Better save your cash and go out to the local cafe or Wetherspoons for breakfast.

Staff are very friendly and accommodating especially with kids! (Very thankful to the receptionist and waiters that serve dinner). The hotel also felt very clean & modern. I can’t find a fault would definitely return. Also lots to do in the area for younger ones ☺️

When you're gone for 9 hours, 2 days in a row and return after 5 in the evening both days, you expect your room to have been cleaned. If you're expecting the level of service you've grown to expect from the Mercure brand, you will be left lacking. This is our 2nd stay, and both times left disappointed. We will not be returning again to this hotel for our biannual visit to family in the area.

The hotel was very clean and well located a short walk to the beach. The room was modern and well presented. The food was excellent.

The food was good as was the room. Situation close to town and beach also good. Parking was limited and on a first come first serve basis. Management issues dogged our stay. One day the room wasn't serviced and at other times only late afternoon. We had to go to reception to collect supplies on 2 days.
One day we had to go to the Ibis next door for a meal. We were told 55 mins before we were due to eat..so no time to book elsewhere. So,we had to make do with fast food whilst a party ( who we were told had booked 2 months previously, some 5 months after us) took over the fine food dining. Plenty of time then to have sorted things out. The Ibis also took 1 hour to deliver food and then starter and main at the same time - we were told after they had delivered it that they didn't have the facility to do otherwise? So not a good evening.
One night at the Mercure my partner found a small piece of plastic on his plate. The waiter apologised...but the Manager didn't bother. It was only when we insisted on talking to him on the evening that we were being moved to the Ibis, that it emerged he had contacted the suppliers.
If, they could get the staffing levels right, plan for large parties in advance, and have Management directing rather than firefighting this would be a really good choice.

A truly wonderful hotel that is right on the seafront. Great attentive staff, especially at breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble, order eggs just how you like them. The one and only fault is the toaster...you can either have hot bread or burnt toast!
The carpark is very tight and small for the size of the hotel, but we did manage to find a space for all 3 nights of our stay.

Nice clean hotel, good location, lovely sea view.
Buffett (hot & cold) breakfast was good plenty of options.
Room nice but no windows that open in the room so concerned about what you’d do if a fire.
You also have to pay extra to park in the underground car park £15 per night, which I feel is not clear when booking.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel. The room was exceptionally clean, which made for a very comfortable and pleasant experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with a smile.
The highlight was definitely the outstanding view from the room—waking up to the stunning sea view was truly unforgettable. The bed was super comfy, ensuring restful nights, and the bathroom was modern and well-maintained. Overall, a fantastic stay, and I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a peaceful, scenic getaway!

Room and hotel in general were excellent very big and comfortable bed. Don't attempt to order room service nobody seems to know what is on the menu or what the price is. The gentleman who brought our order didn't know the price and the receptionist at check out asked us how much it was. We would stay here again but we wouldn't attempt to use room service.

We had an adapted room for four nights. The room was very spacious. Housekeeping did not make up room one day, no explanation, as it was late when returned to room, we did not bother. Breakfast was very good. Drinks from bar reasonable. Parking was very limited and we were never able to park there . Overall a good hotel for wheelchair users with ramp access.

Whilst the hotel reception and rooms were decorated well I found the service quite stark and aloof...queue at reception was ridiculous. Ok for a business trip.

A really nice hotel with a classy bar. A great start and finish point for the night here. Very comfortable and top class room accessories. The breakfast was lovely too.

Hotel was lovely first impression, location could not be better, car park woefully inadequate for size of hotel, air conditioning very poor and check in was painfully slow.

Lovely modern hotel, right on the seafront, really convenient but…
Be aware use the hotel car park it will be £20 on top.
This should really be quite clear on the hotel details as it could come across sneaky.
It is a lovely / modern hotel, WI-FI was good also for work.
Also breakfast is extra but there are options over the road for breakfast.

Nice and modern, very poor on parking, also when booking we told child and age but when arrived they said yr child was booked to sleep in same bed ??? We given child age 6 yrs old . We had to ask for bed was given a folding cot bed . This shouldn’t happen when a family book a room with child .

It is my 3rd time at the Mercure this time booking via expedia, on this occasion I found the room to be cleaned very late in the day which I declined as I had already returned back to relax before getting ready for the evening. On one occasion I returned to find my room door slightly ajar and a card in the door slot. Obviously as they tended to the room they left the card in the slot and my door ajar! I took the card to the lobby but I dont think the staff understood the gravity of what I was saying and just told me she could replace MY card if I wanted. I gave up trying to explain and was just thankful nothing in my room was disturbed. I was also disappointed by the parking headspace, from my previous visits I know a space is not to be expected but it is not advertised on the headspace, arriving this visit with a roof box I found I was unable to fit under the 2M height restriction and had to find other local parking.
Despite the above I will visit again, this and the sister hotel Ibis really bring another level of accommodation to Paignton.

We liked the location of the hotel overlooking the sea and the building is new, shiny and clean and the rooms are spacious and well designed.
We stayed the weekend and on the Saturday we were out all day till 10pm but when we returned our room hadnt been serviced - the bed was unmade, dirty cups and tea/coffee not replenished etc.. We called reception and got an apology and replacement tea/ coffee but housekeeping had gone home.
We found breakfast both mornings quite a stressful experience. Fried/poached eggs and hash browns have to be ordered and it's hit and miss whether you get your eggs as they dont have table numbers. We asked 3 times for our eggs only getting them after we had finished the rest of our hot breakfast. There was only frozen fruit on the Saturday, Sunday there was melon and frozen. I wasnt happy with the attitude of the restaurant manager on the Saturday morning when i pointed out the issues with our egg order and I didnt feel listened too. They just dont have enough staff during breakfast, they were struggling with the dishwasher - dishes piling up at the bar was unsightly.
We visit Paignton 4 to 5 times a year, and thought we'd give this hotel a try but I am afraid we will not be returning unless the breakfast situation improves as wd came out of breakfast feeling quite stressed. On checking out I asked for a discount because of room not being done and they didnt know how to issue a refund!

were told by reception on arrival no restaurant/bar capacity for guests other than the coach parties.
we booked a ‘privilege room’ which was a nice typical executive style room with sea view. Coffee was below average biscuits were nice though (although you’d need more as so hungry as no dinner available) we ended up ordering a papas to share as too tired to explore after journey! very underwhelmed by the whole experience such a let down for paignton as it should have been good!

Lovely building , right on sea front, near shops bars and childrens play ground .had a lovely time only proplem we had was the bathroom kept flooding when we had a shower , it was a good job it was a wet room, the maintenance people tried a few times to sort it, it got better but wasnt right but did not spoil our experience

Not that impressed, paid for a superior privilege room, expecting floor to ceiling glass views of the bay. Was put on the top floor which felt like an attic room with a much smaller window. Was still a great view but not what I expected or what I felt I'd paid for. The dressing gowns were just screwed up in a bundle in the wardrobe. The room was really just a Travelodge with bling... Very disappointed

When we booked it online . We have booked sea view room or arrival we was told that that was not the case ..so we asked was there one available but there wasn’t ..and then took the room that they said that was booked but to find our bathroom was a disabled bathroom which wasn’t a problem but would preferred a normal bathroom. All in all not a bad stay but a bit pricey I wouldn’t of mind paying that for what was booked and that was sea view room not building view room

The hotel was lovely and modern we had a 3 night break, we upgraded to a sea view which was lovely, food was great but only found out off hearing other people talking you could order fried or poached eggs or hash brown so the last day we did order egss would have been nice to be told tis on first day. We stayed for 3 nights and our room wasn't cleaned or fresh towels, we had to ask for toilet rolls so this could be improved on.
